A 24/7 story stream can be suitable for YouTube Kids only if its stories fit the selected age group and meet YouTube’s content policies and quality expectations. First, classify the stream accurately as “Made for Kids” when it is directed to children. That audience setting does not automatically put the stream in the YouTube Kids app, and no app placement is guaranteed.
“Made for Kids” and YouTube Kids are separate decisions
“Made for Kids” is the audience setting you choose for YouTube content. YouTube Kids is a separate app with its own content policies and curation. YouTube says videos set as Made for Kids are not automatically included in the app; automated systems and human reviewers look for suitable content, and not every video is manually reviewed. YouTube’s current guidance does not describe a defined application route creators can use to request inclusion.
A story stream intentionally aimed at children is likely Made for Kids. YouTube identifies stories, characters, activities, games, and songs as possible signs of an intent to target children. Consider the whole presentation—not just a disclaimer or audience statistic—including the story themes, language, narration, characters, title, thumbnail, intended age group, and promotion. Mixed-audience content can also count as Made for Kids when children are one of the intended audiences and the relevant factors indicate child direction. YouTube says creators are responsible for classifying accurately, may override an erroneous or abusive setting, and that Analytics is not designed to decide whether content is child-directed. Choose the age group and shape stories for it
YouTube Kids has three age settings: Preschool (4 and under), Younger (5–8), and Older (9–12). Choose the intended band deliberately, then check that every story and transition makes sense for those viewers. The app’s Preschool categories include read-alongs, cartoons, nursery rhymes, arts and crafts, toys and play, and yoga; a category alone does not make a particular story appropriate. - Review the complete sequence, including interstitials, titles, visuals, and transitions—not only the individual story recordings.
- Use language, themes, characters, and pacing suited to the age band you intend to serve.
- Keep the content original and meaningfully varied. A continuous schedule is not a substitute for age fit or quality.
- Do not treat any particular segment length, loop duration, or uptime target as an official YouTube Kids eligibility rule. YouTube’s published guidance does not specify one.
Set the live stream audience in YouTube Studio
- Create the stream in YouTube Studio and open Live Control Room. Provide the stream’s basic details and privacy setting.
- In the Audience section, choose “Made for Kids” if the stream is directed to children. Do not choose “Not Made for Kids” merely to retain features.
- For an archived livestream, review or update its audience setting in YouTube Studio under Content, then the Live tab.
YouTube says Classic live streaming tools cannot set this audience. For the computer workflow and channel or video audience settings, see YouTube’s audience-setting instructions.
Plan for the features a Made for Kids live stream loses
YouTube disables several features for Made for Kids live content, including live chat and live chat donations, comments, notifications, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and personalized advertising. YouTube says these restrictions limit data collection on kids content; it also notes that the absence of personalized ads may reduce revenue for some creators. Build the format without relying on live interaction, fan funding, or personalized-ad revenue.

Make a continuous format original and valuable
YouTube’s monetization policy applies to livestreams as well as long- and short-form videos. It expects monetized content to be the creator’s original work, not mass-produced or repetitive, and to provide creative, educational, or other value. Generic, interchangeable stories or a repeated template with little meaningful variation may be ineligible for monetization. Reviewers may consider a channel’s main theme, newest and most-viewed videos, videos contributing most watch time, metadata, and About section. YouTube updated its policy on July 15, 2025, clarifying that repetitive or mass-produced content falls under “inauthentic content.” This is monetization guidance; it does not itself determine whether the Kids app includes a stream. Keep the Kids-app stream free of commercial promotion
YouTube Kids excludes branded content and endorsements, as well as overly commercial or promotional material. Do not build an affiliate read, sponsor segment, endorsement, or product placement into material intended for the Kids app. Keep any creator-facing promotion separate from the children’s story experience.

Can YouTube Kids show a 24/7 livestream?
YouTube’s published guidance explains audience classification, Kids app content policies, and curation, but it does not specify a special 24/7 stream checklist, a safe loop duration, or an uptime threshold. Nor does it guarantee that setting a stream as Made for Kids will place it in the app. Treat suitability as a matter of the content, age fit, and policies—not the number of hours it runs.
