To make a children’s cartoon livestream loop seamlessly, make the animation’s ending lead naturally into its opening, then repeat the finished video in OBS. OBS’s Loop setting repeats a file; it cannot remove a visual or audio jump already present at the file boundary. Before broadcasting, check the transition in the stream output, confirm you have rights to every element, and set the audience accurately in YouTube Live Control Room.
Make the cartoon’s beginning and ending connect
A seamless loop depends on the relationship between the last moment and the first—not on the playback setting. Plan the animation so its final image, motion, music, and ambience lead naturally back to the opening. A static ending followed by a sudden change in movement or a music track that cuts to silence can make the repeat obvious even when playback is configured correctly.
Render the finished animation as a local video file. OBS Media Source supports common formats such as MP4 and WebM; see the OBS Media Sources documentation. The documented playback setting repeats a rendered file, but OBS’s documentation does not prescribe a particular animation-editor method for creating a frame-perfect boundary. Check the result in your own editing workflow.
Loop one video in OBS
- Add a source: In OBS, choose the scene where the cartoon should appear, select Sources → + → Media Source, then create or select a source.
- Choose the rendered file: In the Media Source properties, select the local video file you want to play.
- Enable looping: Turn on Loop in the source properties. OBS describes this setting as replaying the file after playback completes. Its Media Sources documentation states: “Loop | Specifies whether the file play again once playback has completed.”
- Check playback: Confirm the source is visible in the scene and that playback reaches the end and starts again. Listen for an audio gap, click, or abrupt change at the transition.
Loop a playlist of cartoon clips
If your broadcast should cycle through several files, use an OBS VLC Video source and configure its playlist. The OBS Media Sources documentation says VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear. With 64-bit OBS, the VLC installation must also match OBS’s 64-bit architecture.

- Add the source: In the scene, select Sources → + → VLC Video.
- Build the playlist: Add the files in the order you want them to play.
- Repeat the sequence: Enable Loop Playlist.
- Review every join: Check transitions between clips as well as the transition from the final clip back to the first. Playlist looping repeats the sequence; it does not smooth mismatched picture or sound.
Check the stream before making it public
Review the actual output that viewers will receive, rather than relying only on the editor preview. Watch and listen through at least one complete pass, including the last-to-first transition. Confirm that the cartoon remains visible and playing as expected. If the boundary feels abrupt, revise the animation or audio in the editing project and render the file again; changing the OBS loop option alone will not fix it.
Handle copyright and the audience setting
Check rights before broadcasting
YouTube says it scans livestreams for matches to third-party content. If a match is identified, a placeholder may replace the stream, and YouTube may interrupt or terminate it if the content remains. This can include copyrighted material appearing in another live broadcast. A licence does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

Confirm that your permissions cover the cartoon, music, sound effects, and any other third-party material you use. The platform guidance cannot determine whether a particular licence is sufficient for your work or for every territory; ask the rights holder about your specific rights and allowlisting where needed. YouTube also lists copyright strikes and matches to copyrighted live broadcasts among reasons a livestream can be restricted: live-stream copyright guidance.
Set whether the stream is made for kids
Choose the audience setting in YouTube Live Control Room based on the content and intended audience. A cartoon format by itself does not settle the question. YouTube says creators must set content as made for kids or not and advises against relying on automated systems to make that decision. Its guidance identifies factors such as subject matter, animated characters, themes, toys, and games; review YouTube’s audience guidance and its instructions for setting your audience.
