Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To create a fresh YouTube live event each day, automate two separate jobs: restart the encoder that sends the cartoon and prepare or start the next YouTube broadcast. Restarting OBS or another encoder alone does not create tomorrow’s event. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings react to incoming or stopped encoder data; they do not schedule a new broadcast for the next day.
First decide what “restart every day” should do
There are two different goals, and they need different broadcast handling:
- Make a fresh daily event and archive: prepare a separate YouTube broadcast for each day, while reusing the configured stream that receives the encoder’s video.
- Recover the same event after a brief encoder interruption: keep the existing broadcast lifecycle in mind rather than deliberately ending it each day. A daily encoder shutdown can cause YouTube to end the event if auto-stop is enabled.
YouTube distinguishes a liveStream, which holds the ingest configuration, from a liveBroadcast, which represents the event. Its API documents binding a configured stream to broadcast resources for recurring events; only one event is live at a time in the described workflow. See YouTube LiveStreams and YouTube LiveBroadcasts.
Set up a daily event and encoder cycle
- Confirm livestream access. Check that the channel is eligible to livestream and has no account restriction blocking it. A restriction can prevent a correctly configured schedule from working. See YouTube’s livestreaming restrictions.
- Choose the daily result. Decide whether each day needs its own event and archive, or whether the aim is to keep one event connected through short encoder outages. Do not treat these as the same restart behavior.
- Configure the encoder to send to the YouTube stream. Set up the ingest configuration in YouTube and enter its stream details in your encoder. Google describes a stream as the configuration for transmitting audio and video to YouTube. The same configured stream can be bound to the relevant broadcast resources in the recurring-event workflow.
- Prepare and bind the day’s broadcast. Use YouTube Studio/Live Control Room or the YouTube Live Streaming API to prepare the broadcast and bind it to the configured stream. Before attempting a transition, confirm the broadcast is in a state that allows it; API transitions depend on the resource’s current state. See the broadcast resource documentation and YouTube’s broadcast lifecycle guide.
- Choose auto-start and auto-stop intentionally. With auto-start enabled, incoming encoder data can start the broadcast. With auto-stop enabled, stopping the encoder can end it; YouTube’s lifecycle guide says this automatic ending happens about a minute after transmission stops. Those controls can handle the current event’s start or end, but they do not prepare the next day’s broadcast.
- Schedule the encoder separately. Use a scheduler or process supervisor in the environment running your encoder to stop and start it at the desired daily times. Make sure each new encoder start targets the intended YouTube stream, and that the next broadcast is already prepared and eligible to go live. The exact scheduling steps depend on your operating system, encoder and hosting environment.
- Verify both sides of the connection. Check YouTube’s ingest status and the broadcast state. The API’s
streamStatusvalueactivemeans YouTube is receiving data from the encoder; it does not, by itself, prove that the intended broadcast is live to viewers. A locally running encoder is not enough to confirm the event is live. - Set the audience accurately. If the cartoon is intended for children, mark it Made for Kids as appropriate. YouTube disables or restricts features for Made for Kids content, including live chat, chat replay, comments on livestream archives, reminder notifications and personalized ads. This affects the viewer experience, not the restart mechanism.
What the automation must coordinate
A dependable daily arrangement needs its scheduler to coordinate the encoder with YouTube’s broadcast lifecycle. Before the encoder starts, the intended broadcast must be ready for the relevant transition. When the encoder stops, auto-stop may end that broadcast; another broadcast must be prepared for the following day if viewers need a new daily event. The official lifecycle documentation explains the platform’s states and transitions, but does not promise that a particular local scheduler, hosting service or retry policy will recover from every failure.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Decide whether a planned daily stop should end the current event.
- Ensure the next broadcast resource is prepared and bound to the configured stream.
- Have the scheduler detect a failed start and provide a way to alert an operator or retry.
- Monitor YouTube’s ingest status and broadcast state, not just the encoder process.
- Keep a manual recovery path for a missed schedule, invalid transition or account restriction.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded cartoon feed, StreamNeo is a cloud service that keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so no computer or home internet connection has to stay on. It is an alternative to maintaining your own always-on encoder, not a camera-based live setup.
- Any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps streams as made, at one flat price per slot with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card, once per account.
- Monthly: $9.99 per month.
See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.

Troubleshooting a missed restart
- The encoder is running, but viewers do not see a live event: check whether YouTube is receiving ingest data and whether the intended broadcast is in a state that can go live. Active ingest and a live broadcast are separate checks.
- The old event ended, but no new one started: auto-start does not create tomorrow’s broadcast. Prepare and bind the next broadcast, then confirm its state permits the required transition.
- A short encoder interruption ends the event: review auto-stop. YouTube documents that it can end a broadcast after transmission stops, about a minute later. If brief outages should not end the event, reconsider whether auto-stop and a daily shutdown match that goal.
- The schedule ran but YouTube did not receive video: verify the encoder is targeting the intended configured stream and inspect ingest status. A scheduled process start is not proof that data reached YouTube.
- The broadcast transition fails: check the resource’s current state and whether the requested transition is allowed; also check for channel livestream restrictions.
- The event works but child-viewing features are missing: confirm the audience setting. Made for Kids restrictions on chat, comments, reminders and personalized ads are separate from the livestream restart setup.
Costs and operating trade-offs
Running your own encoder means maintaining the computer or hosted environment and its scheduler, network connection and monitoring. A mini PC may be one option for someone choosing to host an encoder, but YouTube’s documentation does not establish hardware requirements or endorse a particular model. For a prerecorded cartoon sent directly by an encoder, a capture card is not inherently required by the workflow described here.
A cloud service shifts the always-on playback and recovery work away from a home computer, but it does not remove the need to comply with YouTube’s rules or to label children’s content correctly. Compare options by whether you need a fresh daily archive, how you want brief outages handled, where lifecycle scheduling will run, and how you will detect and recover from failures.
