YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. A 24-hour broadcast also needs a plan for outages and recording: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, which does not establish that a full-day stream will be saved.
1. Check that your channel can go live

Verify your YouTube channel and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. YouTube says the channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do this before planning your launch. YouTube: Get started with live streaming

Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room. You can create or schedule a stream there. Choose a scheduled event if you want a watch page and time to promote it; otherwise create a stream for an immediate test.

In Live Control Room, select the streaming software or encoder option and locate the stream URL and stream key. You will enter these in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, show it in screenshots, or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast on your channel.

YouTube recommends setting up a scheduled stream at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before its scheduled start. These are preparation recommendations, not minimum technical requirements. YouTube: Live streaming tips
2. Build a revision loop worth leaving on
Arrange the material so students can understand what is playing without having to wait through unrelated content. A loop might group subjects into clearly named blocks, use legible lesson cards, and include visible topic labels or timestamps. Keep any background audio quiet enough not to compete with revision. These are audience-focused choices, not YouTube rules.

Use original slides, diagrams, recordings, and narration, or material you have permission to use.

Check the complete sequence before looping it: remove accidental gaps, incorrect labels, private information, and transitions that could confuse viewers.

Make a separate recording or plan segments if retaining a complete replay matters. YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a 24-hour broadcast.
3. Choose how the video will play continuously
Run a local encoder
A software encoder such as OBS can send a preassembled revision loop from a computer to YouTube. The computer, playback source, encoder, power, and internet connection must remain available; you are responsible for responding if playback or the connection stops. YouTube’s guidance documents computer-based encoder streaming but does not set a minimum computer specification for a static revision stream. Check the current requirements of the encoder you choose and avoid buying more hardware than the workload needs.
Use a cloud service for the loop
A cloud-based service can play uploaded prerecorded videos without relying on a computer at home staying on. YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based 24/7 streaming tool, but that listing alone does not establish its current pricing, reliability, capabilities, or suitability. Check the provider’s current terms and recording or recovery details before choosing any service. YouTube: Live streaming tips
4. Set encoder quality and connect it to YouTube
Use a resolution and frame rate that suit the material and that your encoder and upload connection can sustain reliably. For static slides, a higher frame rate may not add value; for video lessons, preserve a frame rate appropriate to the source. Avoid choosing a bitrate merely because it is the highest available: an unstable upload can interrupt delivery.

In your encoder, add the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Keep the key private.

Set the output resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate control, bitrate, and keyframe interval. Confirm that the output matches the format you intend to test.

Start the encoder while the event is in preview or test mode. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before making the broadcast public.

When the preview looks and sounds right, start the live event in Live Control Room. Open the watch page on both desktop and mobile to check that viewers can reach it.

Run a private or unlisted test with representative material before announcing a continuous stream. Check picture, audio, topic labels, and the connection over a meaningful period; a brief preview cannot establish that a setup will run without interruption for days. Decide who will notice a failure and how the stream will be restarted or recovered. YouTube’s guidance does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 delivery.
Also decide what happens if YouTube or your encoder disconnects, the playback loop reaches its end, or power or internet service fails. A local setup depends on the local computer and connection being available; a cloud service shifts playback hosting to that service, but its recovery behavior and reliability must be verified with the provider.

6. Protect rights and understand monetization limits
YouTube requires the provider to have the rights needed to broadcast the live content, including music rights. Educational purpose by itself does not grant permission to use a song, video, recording, or other creator’s work. Use original or properly licensed material, with permissions that cover the platform, territory, duration, and intended use, and keep records of those permissions. YouTube Terms of Service
Monetization is conditional on channel and feature eligibility and YouTube policy. YouTube says Partner Program creators can monetize live streams, but ads and fan-funding features depend on eligibility and available controls; a continuous stream does not guarantee monetization or a particular amount of revenue. 7. Troubleshoot common problems
