For one file, loop that source; for several, use a playlist-capable source and loop the playlist. A local setup keeps your computer, files, power, encoder, and internet connection in the loop. Before you build the stream
Make sure the channel can go live
Check YouTube Live access before preparing the broadcast. YouTube requires the channel to be verified and to have had no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it early and confirm access in YouTube Studio before your planned start.
Confirm the rights cover a public livestream
Being able to download, own, or privately play a Gurbani recording does not automatically give you the right to broadcast it. Confirm permission for the actual video and audio, including the intended public livestream, territories, and any archive or replay you plan to make. Rights may involve the performers, recording owner, label, publisher, and other participants.
YouTube’s livestream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A detected match can replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even if you have a license, a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel in Content ID for the stream not to be interrupted. Resolve that with the relevant rights holder before going live.

Prepare the files and a fallback plan
Put the files you intend to play in a stable location the encoder can access. Test each file, its audio, and the transition back to the start of the loop. If using a local computer, prevent sleep or shutdown and ensure the encoder can continue running; a power, computer, file-access, encoder, or internet failure can stop the feed. Decide who will notice and respond if the stream drops.
Set up a local loop with an encoder
The steps below describe the workflow for OBS or another encoder. OBS control names and behavior can vary by version, so check the controls in the version you use and test the loop before scheduling a public broadcast.

- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream and confirm that the channel is eligible to broadcast.
- Add the video source in the encoder. For one Gurbani video, add the local media file and enable looping for that source. For multiple videos, add them to a playlist-capable source, arrange their order, and enable playlist looping. Confirm the encoder can access all files, including after a restart if you expect it to run unattended.
- Set the picture and sound. Use output settings that match the material you are sending and the capacity of your connection. Check that the video is correctly framed and that the audio is audible without clipping. Use the resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval recommended or accepted by the current YouTube Live setup for your chosen output; the exact appropriate values depend on the format and settings you select. Avoid changing these values midstream unless you understand how the encoder and YouTube will handle the change.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. In Live Control Room, copy the server URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start a private test or inspect the preview. Start the encoder and wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room. Check the image, sound, stream health, and the playlist’s transition back to its first item. Start the public event from Live Control Room when the preview is satisfactory and the event is ready.
- Monitor the broadcast. Watch stream health and playback rather than assuming a successful start guarantees an uninterrupted 24-hour run. YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom above the stream’s total bitrate. A network interruption can break the feed, so have a person or recovery plan ready to restore it.
Plan the internet connection and recovery
Estimate the total bitrate the encoder will send, then check that your sustained upload capacity leaves at least 20% headroom above it, as YouTube recommends. Upload speed that briefly reaches the target is not enough if the connection fluctuates or is shared with other traffic. For a local stream, the computer, encoder, media files, power, and internet connection all need to remain available. If YouTube or the network drops the connection, check the encoder and Live Control Room, restore the feed, and verify that the picture and audio return.
Preserve a recording separately
Do not rely on YouTube to create a complete archive of a continuous 24/7 broadcast. YouTube can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a full recording, make and check a separate local archive or another recording arrangement, and confirm that your rights cover that use. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup.

Troubleshoot common problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: Check channel verification, live-streaming access, and any restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours and check access again.
- The preview does not appear: Confirm the encoder is sending, the server URL and stream key match the selected YouTube stream, and the network has upload capacity. Keep the stream key private; reset it if it may have been exposed.
- The feed stutters or loses connection: Check sustained upload capacity against the stream’s total bitrate, allowing YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Reduce competing network traffic, inspect the connection, and restore the feed if it has dropped.
- Playback stops at the end of a file: Check that looping is enabled for a single source or for the playlist itself, and that all files remain accessible to the encoder. Test a complete pass and the return to the beginning before relying on it unattended.
- There is no sound or the picture looks wrong: Check the source file, encoder audio and video settings, and the Live Control Room preview. Confirm the correct source is active and that the output matches the format you intend to send.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the broadcast: Check for a copyright or Content ID match in Live Control Room. Contact the rights holder to resolve the match and, where applicable, request that the channel be allowlisted; possession of a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
- The broadcast ends but there is no full replay: Streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube. Use the separate archive plan you prepared rather than assuming the platform saved the whole 24/7 run.
