To keep an Indian restaurant’s Malayalam menu video repeating for everyone watching a YouTube Live broadcast, loop the video in streaming software such as OBS Studio—not with YouTube’s viewer-side Loop button. Add the local video as a looping source, connect OBS to a YouTube Live event with its stream URL and key, check the preview, then start the broadcast.
Choose the right kind of loop
YouTube’s Loop control repeats playback for the person who enables it; it does not turn a video into a live broadcast for everyone. To broadcast a repeating menu, the channel needs an encoder that sends the video to YouTube Live. YouTube documents its viewer-side loop separately from its encoder workflow: YouTube video and playlist looping and creating a live stream with an encoder.

Prepare the Malayalam menu video
Use a video the restaurant owns or has permission to broadcast. Check the Malayalam text, item names, prices, availability notes, and dietary details before streaming; revise the file when the menu changes. YouTube requires live content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, so make sure the video and any included music, images, or other material are cleared for use. Keep important menu text large enough to read on the screens customers are likely to use. Play the video with sound and confirm that Malayalam narration or other audio is clear and at a suitable level. These are practical checks; they do not guarantee how every viewer’s device or connection will render the broadcast.

Set up a repeating source in OBS
- Install OBS Studio on the computer that will run the broadcast. Create a scene for the menu.
- Add a local video: in the scene’s Sources panel, choose + → Media Source, create or select a source, and browse to the menu file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties, then confirm the source. OBS’s Media Source supports local video files and looping. Its instructions are at OBS Media Sources.
- Check the scene: start playback in the OBS preview and verify that the full video fits the canvas, menu text is legible, and Malayalam audio is audible. Watch it reach the end and confirm that it starts again.
To loop a playlist instead
Use OBS’s VLC Video source for multiple files. VLC must be installed for this source to appear. Add the files in the intended order and enable Loop Playlist in the source settings. Preview the sequence so you can catch missing files, unwanted gaps, or a transition that interrupts menu information. Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live. Create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder workflow. YouTube’s labels and screen placement can change; use its current encoder setup instructions if the path differs.
- In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. Keep the key private: it lets an encoder send a feed to your channel. Do not post it in public messages or include it in a video.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the Live Control Room preview, then inspect the picture, menu text, and Malayalam audio.
- When the preview is correct, select Go live in YouTube Studio. Keep the broadcast and its stream health under observation while it runs.
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to go live. It also states that a streamer must be at least 16. Check the current YouTube live-streaming requirements before scheduling, especially if the channel is new or has previously received restrictions.

Use Malayalam for the broadcast audio
If Malayalam is the required language, make the Malayalam version the source video in OBS. A viewer’s preferred-language settings do not change the audio sent by your live encoder. YouTube explains that viewers can choose another audio track only when a video offers one; its language guidance does not establish that every live broadcast supports alternate tracks. Plan for a long-running menu stream
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams longer than 12 hours, DVR pause and rewind may be limited or unavailable. If customers may want to revisit an item they missed, do not promise rewind on a very long broadcast; plan the stream duration around that limitation. Troubleshoot common problems
- The video repeats only for you, not as a live broadcast: You enabled YouTube’s playback Loop control. Send the local file through an encoder such as OBS and configure the source to loop.
- The VLC Video source is missing in OBS: VLC is required for that source. Install VLC, then reopen or check OBS’s source list; use Media Source instead if you only need one local file.
- YouTube receives no feed: check that OBS is streaming, and confirm the stream URL and key match the event in the Live Control Room. Keep the key private; if you suspect it has been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- The preview has not appeared: wait for YouTube to receive the encoder feed and confirm OBS is sending the intended scene. Do not select Go live until the preview is available and checked.
- The menu is hard to read or the audio is unclear: correct the video or audio in the source and review the OBS preview again before going live. Check on the screens customers are likely to use.
- The stream is very long and viewers expect to rewind: broadcasts longer than 12 hours may have limited or unavailable DVR. Set expectations accordingly or choose a duration that fits the archive and DVR behavior YouTube documents.
