To loop a webinar recording as a YouTube Live stream, play the local video file in OBS Studio, enable Loop in its Media Source settings, and send OBS’s output to a stream you create in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Preview the feed, then start the event in YouTube. This rebroadcasts a recording; it does not make the webinar interactive or newly live.
Before you schedule the stream
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until the event is due to start. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
Confirm rights and policy compliance
YouTube says, “All content in live streams must adhere to our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.” Its livestream terms also require the provider to have the necessary rights to use the content on Google services. For a customer webinar, check permissions for speakers, slides, music, product demonstrations, and any third-party footage or clips before broadcasting. Relevant guidance: YouTube Terms of Service and YouTube Community Guidelines.
Decide what customers will understand
Tell viewers that the program is a recording being rebroadcast. You can use an OBS text source for a clear label, schedule information, or customer-support details, but avoid wording or graphics that imply a live presenter or live interaction if neither is present. Plan how customers can ask questions separately if the event needs a response channel.

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Choose an encoder stream, or schedule one for the future if you want an event page and time to promote it. YouTube’s walkthrough is at Create a live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. You will enter these in OBS. Treat the stream key as a password: do not share it in public messages, screenshots, or customer-facing materials. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Keep the event’s Live Control Room available. You will use its preview to verify the incoming picture and sound and, for a scheduled event, start the event after the preview is ready.
Set up the webinar loop in OBS
- Open OBS Studio and select the scene you want viewers to see. If needed, create a scene for the webinar and any restrained title or support text.
- Add the recording: in the Sources area, select +, choose Media Source, create or select a source, and browse to the webinar file on the computer running OBS.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. OBS’s Media Source loop option makes the file play again when playback reaches the end; it is off by default. The loop happens in OBS, not through a YouTube setting. OBS documents common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM; if a file fails or behaves unexpectedly, try a supported file or check OBS’s current Media Sources documentation.
- Check the scene and audio. Make sure the video fits the canvas, the audio meters respond during playback, and any text or logo does not obscure important content. Play through the start and end so you can confirm the transition back to the beginning is acceptable.
Connect OBS and go live
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube if it is available, then enter or connect the account as prompted; otherwise select the option to use a stream key and provide the stream URL and key from Live Control Room.
- Apply the settings, then select Start Streaming in OBS. Check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview for the correct image and sound before starting the event.
- For a scheduled stream, start the event in Live Control Room once the preview is ready. For an unscheduled stream, use the applicable go-live control there after previewing. YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams ahead of time and checking the event on watch pages and mobile devices.
- Monitor the OBS output and YouTube preview as the recording plays. YouTube recommends having upload capacity at least 20% above the total stream bitrate. For example, if the outgoing stream uses 6 Mbps, plan for at least 7.2 Mbps of available upload capacity; this is a headroom recommendation, not a guarantee that a connection will be stable.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers the stream URL, key, preview, and event controls: YouTube Help: Create a live stream with an encoder. Keep the key private throughout setup and operation.
Plan the loop length and archive separately
A looping file and a saved YouTube archive are separate concerns. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy, and do not promise customers that a long-running stream will produce a complete YouTube replay. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

The cited YouTube guidance does not establish that one live event can run indefinitely. If you are planning an all-day or continuous broadcast, check the current controls in Live Control Room and have a monitoring and restart plan rather than assuming an event can remain live without interruption.
Troubleshooting common problems
- The channel cannot start a stream: check verification and live-stream restrictions in YouTube Studio. If this is the channel’s first live stream, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The stream appears on YouTube but the webinar does not play: confirm the Media Source points to the correct local file and that playback has started. Check the file in OBS and try a format listed in its Media Sources documentation if needed.
- The video plays once and stops: reopen the Media Source properties and make sure Loop is enabled.
- The preview has picture but no sound: check the source’s audio output and OBS audio meters, then listen to the YouTube preview before starting the scheduled event.
- The stream is unstable or drops: compare available upload capacity with the total stream bitrate and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Check the local connection and encoder output before restarting.
- The event is live but the saved replay is missing or incomplete: streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube. Use a local recording when an archive is required.
- The stream key may have been exposed: reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS with the replacement key before sending the feed again.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want the computer running OBS and the home connection to remain on, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud. The setup is: upload the webinar recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded video, not a camera feed.
