The video plays on your computer, so the computer, power and internet connection must remain available while you stream.
Before you set up the stream
Check the promotion file and its rights
Use a video file that OBS can access locally. Confirm that you have permission to stream every element in it, including music, voiceover, product images and footage. Check that prices, offer terms, validity dates and stock conditions are still accurate before publishing. These are campaign checks, not a statement of India-specific legal requirements.
Confirm YouTube channel eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; its current guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. Check the channel in YouTube Studio before building the event. If live streaming has not been enabled, allow time to complete the platform’s setup; the available guidance does not establish a specific activation timetable. Create the YouTube Live event

Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Choose the encoder workflow, then create or schedule the event for the promotion.

Open the event’s stream settings and retrieve the server/ingest details and stream key. In OBS, use the matching YouTube service or enter the server and key as the event setup requires. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to the channel’s ingest endpoint.

Use RTMPS where available. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, CBR, H.264/H.265/AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Follow the current settings shown for your event and encoder. YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrate and resolution guidance.
Set up the looping source in OBS
Add the local video or playlist
Add a media source in OBS that points to the local promotion file. For a multi-video playlist, a practical option described in a secondary guide is OBS’s VLC Video source: add the files there and enable loop, or shuffle if you intentionally want a non-fixed order. The exact control names and availability can vary by OBS version and installation, so verify the controls in your installed build rather than relying on a menu label from another version. OBS sends media available to the computer; this workflow is not a way to loop a YouTube-hosted video URL inside OBS. Before the event, confirm the source starts when expected, continues after the last item, and does not reveal a blank scene or desktop between plays.

Match resolution and frame rate to the source and to what the connection can sustain. For offer text, choose a resolution that keeps prices and terms legible on a phone-sized preview. YouTube’s published H.264 examples are a starting point, not a promise that a particular ISP or connection in India will sustain the rate:

Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, and select an audio format supported by YouTube and OBS. Run a speed test and leave headroom rather than setting the encoder at the full measured upload rate. YouTube transcodes a live input into viewer output formats, so viewers’ playback quality need not be identical to the incoming OBS signal. Its encoder guide recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream and monitoring stream health and messages.

Test the complete loop before going public

Start streaming from OBS while the YouTube event is still in preview. Check that the preview shows the intended video and not a blank scene or unintended source.

Read the offer text at the size a viewer is likely to see. Listen for clipped, missing or unexpectedly quiet audio.

Let the video reach its end and watch the transition back to the beginning. A good preview at the start does not establish that the loop boundary is clean.

Check YouTube’s stream health and messages, and watch for dropped or unstable delivery. If anything is wrong, fix the source or output settings and test again before launch.

When the picture, sound, loop and stream health are satisfactory, start the public event in YouTube Studio/Live Control Room. Keep an operator available to monitor the feed and respond to chat or customer questions if appropriate.
What to verify for an India-based grocery campaign
YouTube’s community guidelines and terms apply to live content. The platform settings do not determine whether a particular offer, product claim, food label, price or use of music meets all requirements that may apply to your campaign in India. Validate the actual claims, prices, validity dates, availability and media rights through your normal campaign review process. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance covers the platform’s content conditions, not a complete India-specific advertising or consumer-law checklist.

Common problems and fixes

YouTube will not accept the stream: Check that the channel meets live-stream eligibility conditions, that the event is using its current server/ingest details, and that the stream key has been copied correctly. Do not expose the key publicly.

The stream is unstable or YouTube reports poor health: Check the measured upload capacity, reduce resolution, frame rate or bitrate to a sustainable setting, and test again. YouTube’s listed bitrates are guidance, not a guarantee for your connection.

The video stops instead of repeating: Verify the selected OBS source has loop enabled and that all playlist files are available. Test through the end-to-start boundary in preview.

The stream starts on a blank screen or wrong scene: Check the active OBS scene, source visibility and media playback state, then restart the preview test from the beginning.

The offer is hard to read or the audio is wrong: Recheck the source file and OBS output, then inspect the YouTube preview at a realistic viewing size. Do not launch until the price, terms and sound are clear.
