To loop several Indian music videos from your computer in an OBS broadcast, add them to an OBS VLC Video source playlist, enable Loop Playlist, and leave Shuffle Playlist off for a fixed sequence. VLC must be installed, and its architecture must match OBS. Then connect OBS to an eligible YouTube Live event, preview the stream, and confirm you have the rights to broadcast every video.

Choose the OBS source for your videos

What you want to play OBS source Repeat and order Requirement
One local video Media Source Enable its Loop option to repeat the file. Media Source is built into OBS.
Several local videos VLC Video Enable Loop Playlist. Keep Shuffle Playlist off for the listed sequence, or turn it on for randomized order. Install VLC. For 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.

This method plays files stored on your computer; it is not a way to import a YouTube playlist URL. OBS documents adding media to a VLC Video playlist, but does not document automatic discovery or ongoing synchronization of every file in a folder. Add the files you intend to play to the playlist yourself. OBS’s Media Source documentation lists formats including MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, TS, GIF, WebM, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV; a listed container or format does not guarantee that every codec will decode on every computer. OBS: Media Sources

Prepare OBS and VLC

  1. Install OBS and VLC. Match their architectures: the OBS knowledge base says 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC for the VLC Video source to be available. If the source is missing, check this before troubleshooting the playlist. OBS: Media Sources
  2. Collect and check your files. Keep the video files accessible to the computer running OBS. Play each file locally first to catch missing files or decoding problems before the broadcast.
  3. Open the scene you will use. In OBS, add a VLC Video source to that scene and add the individual video files to its playlist. The exact surrounding layout may vary by OBS version, so use the source’s properties to confirm the playlist and its options.
  4. Set playback behavior. Turn on Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off if you want the files in their listed order; enable it only if randomized playback is intended. OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default and Shuffle Playlist as off by default, but verify the actual settings rather than relying on defaults. OBS: Media Sources
  5. Fit the video to the scene. Check that the source fills or fits the canvas as intended. Watch the OBS audio meter while a file plays to confirm that the scene is receiving audio; this check does not guarantee what viewers will hear, so verify the stream preview as well.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s getting-started guidance requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Confirm access in YouTube Studio before planning the broadcast. YouTube: Get started with live streaming
  2. Create or select the event. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a live event or select the event you plan to use. YouTube’s encoder workflow provides the stream URL and stream key associated with the stream. YouTube: Stream with an encoder
  3. Enter the connection details in OBS. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter or connect the stream settings as prompted. Use the event’s stream key and URL where OBS requests them. YouTube’s labels and connection flow can change; follow the current Live Control Room and OBS prompts. YouTube: Stream with an encoder
  4. Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: do not show it in a screen capture or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the new key.
  5. Preview before going public. Check the Live Control Room preview for picture and sound, verify the event’s accessibility and visibility settings, and monitor the broadcast after it starts. YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, if the total stream bitrate is 6 Mbps, the recommended upload capacity is at least 7.2 Mbps; this is headroom guidance, not a guarantee against network instability. Resolve music-video rights before broadcasting

Looping a file in OBS does not grant permission to stream it. YouTube’s live-stream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This applies to the rights needed for the live content; it is not a determination of whether your particular license is sufficient. YouTube Terms of Service

YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it temporarily, or terminate the broadcast. Even licensed content may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Resolve any required permissions and allowlisting with the relevant rights holders before going live. YouTube: Copyright issues with live streams

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check
VLC Video is not available in OBS VLC is not installed or its architecture does not match OBS. Install VLC; if OBS is 64-bit, use 64-bit VLC, then restart OBS and check the source list again. OBS: Media Sources
The videos play once and stop Loop Playlist is off, or the selected source is not the intended playlist. Open the VLC Video source properties and confirm Loop Playlist is enabled and the files are in that playlist.
The order changes unexpectedly Shuffle Playlist is enabled. Turn off Shuffle Playlist for the listed order.
A file is missing, silent, or fails to decode The file path may be unavailable, or its particular codec/container combination may not decode on this computer. Confirm the file is still accessible, test it locally, and check playback and audio in OBS before starting the event. A listed format alone is not a universal compatibility guarantee.
OBS plays locally but YouTube has no picture or sound The issue may be in the event connection, scene output, audio routing, or stream preview rather than playlist looping. Confirm the correct event credentials and active scene, inspect OBS meters, then check the Live Control Room preview before proceeding. YouTube: Stream with an encoder
The YouTube stream buffers or drops The connection may not sustain the stream’s total bitrate. Check upload capacity and aim for YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom above the total bitrate; monitor the preview and broadcast status. YouTube: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
YouTube interrupts or replaces the live stream Detected third-party content or unresolved rights/Content ID allowlisting may be involved.
