If you run the livestream, make sure the media source feeding your encoder repeats or restarts when it reaches the end. YouTube’s playlist Loop button is for a viewer’s playlist in the YouTube player; it does not document a way to restart a creator’s live source. If you only mean a playlist you are watching, turn on that playlist’s Loop control instead.
First, identify which playlist is ending
- You are watching: A playlist in the regular YouTube player has reached its last video. Use the player’s playlist Loop control.
- You are broadcasting: The media source in your encoder has reached the end of its files, leaving the encoder without the content it was sending. Configure that source or its playback workflow to repeat or restart.
These are separate controls. YouTube documents playlist Loop as a viewer playback feature, while its encoder guidance says the live stream ends when the encoder stops sending content. A viewer-side loop should not be treated as a fix for an exhausted live source. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists · YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
If you mean a playlist you are watching
Start a video from the playlist, then enable Loop for the playlist. The control varies by device:
- Computer: Expand the playlist and click Loop.
- Android: Open the playlist’s playback controls and turn on playlist Loop.
- TV or console: Use the playback controls to enable playlist Loop.
Make sure you have enabled the playlist loop, not merely repeated one video. YouTube’s player API says looping is off by default; with it off, playback ends after the last item. YouTube IFrame Player API reference.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you run the livestream: keep the encoder supplied with content
A YouTube live broadcast is fed by an encoder. YouTube’s setup guidance has you give the encoder the stream URL and stream key, then start it. If content stops coming from the encoder, the live stream ends. The fix for an empty source is therefore upstream: configure the source player or playback workflow to repeat the relaxation video or restart the playlist.
- Check the source, not the YouTube viewer playlist. Identify the exact file, playlist, or media input feeding the encoder.
- Enable repeat or restart in that playback workflow. The available setting depends on the software or device you use; YouTube’s encoder guidance does not specify a universal source-loop setting.
- Test the full transition. In a private or unlisted test stream, let the source reach its end. Confirm that picture and audio continue into the next playback rather than freezing, going silent, or stopping the encoder feed.
- Confirm the encoder remains live. Check the outgoing feed through the transition and verify the broadcast does not end when the source restarts.
YouTube states, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” This is why a playlist that simply finishes can interrupt a live broadcast unless the source workflow continues sending content. Streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, according to YouTube’s encoder guidance; that archive rule does not restart a source or keep an encoder feed alive.

Prevent other interruptions: network and encoder failures
Repeating the source addresses only one failure mode. A live stream can also be interrupted by lost upload connectivity or an encoder failure. YouTube advises leaving headroom in outbound bandwidth and testing backup-encoder failover rather than assuming a backup will work.
- Upload drops or becomes unstable: Check that the available upload capacity is adequate for the outgoing stream and leaves headroom. Avoid relying on a connection that only barely meets the stream’s needs.
- Primary encoder stops: If you have a backup encoder, test the failover by stopping or disconnecting the primary and confirming the backup can take over.
- Source ends but encoder stays open: Inspect whether the encoder is receiving a continuing audio-and-video signal. An open encoder window alone does not establish that content is still being sent.

HLS: a different kind of playlist
If your encoder sends the stream using HLS ingestion, YouTube’s rolling media-segment playlist requirement is a transport rule, not a rule for your list of relaxation videos. YouTube says an HLS rolling playlist must have no more than five outstanding segments. Do not change or interpret your content playlist as though this were the same setting. The guidance names OBS among compatible encoder software, but it does not establish that a particular source-loop workflow is supported; check the relevant software’s documentation.
