You can stream relaxing music with a still image or looping visual by sending an encoder feed to YouTube Live. To attempt a 24/7 broadcast, first confirm your channel can go live, secure rights that expressly cover livestream use and any replay, leave upload-bandwidth headroom, and plan how you will monitor and recover the stream. YouTube does not guarantee that a broadcast will stay live indefinitely.
What you need for a relaxing-music livestream
The practical setup is a computer running streaming or encoder software, an internet connection with enough upload capacity, music you are authorized to use in a YouTube livestream, and a still image or looping visual. YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for productions with graphics and other production equipment; it does not specify a minimum computer model or specification. A computer is therefore part of this approach, but the exact hardware depends on the encoder and visual you choose.
YouTube also offers mobile, webcam, and console streaming methods. For a prepared music mix with a still or looped visual, an encoder gives you a way to send that composed feed. None of YouTube’s listed methods guarantees continuous operation. See YouTube’s overview of live-streaming methods.
Check that your channel can go live
Before preparing the broadcast, open YouTube Studio and check the Live Control Room for your channel’s access. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Eligibility to use Live does not approve the music or guarantee a 24/7 broadcast. Requirements can change, so use the current YouTube live-streaming help and the controls shown in your account.

Get permission for the music before you stream
Make sure your permission covers the actual use: performing the music in a YouTube livestream, the territories where viewers may watch, monetization if you plan to enable it, and the archived replay if the stream will remain available afterward. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions put responsibility for the necessary rights on the person providing the live content, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.
A “royalty-free” label, purchase, or music-library subscription is not by itself proof that a license includes livestreaming, the territories you need, monetization, or an archive. Read the applicable license and ask the rights holder or provider about any unclear use. Keep the permission and its terms on record.

Understand Content ID interruptions
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the content in the stream with a placeholder; continued use can result in interruption or termination. If you have permission to use third-party music, YouTube says to ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
Do not treat Creator Music revenue-sharing tracks as live music
YouTube says videos using Creator Music revenue-sharing tracks cannot be livestreams. A permission intended for an ordinary upload does not establish that the music can be used in a live broadcast. Check the terms for the specific track and use; see YouTube’s Creator Music guidance.

Set up the encoder and preview the feed
- Create or open the live stream: In YouTube Studio, go to the Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to use. Follow the current on-screen setup to obtain the stream key and server URL.
- Enter the destination in your encoder: Use YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming settings. The key directs the encoder feed to your stream, so treat it as a credential: do not publish it, share it, or expose it in a screenshot.
- Prepare the audio and visual: Add the authorized music and your still image or looping visual to the encoder scene or playlist. Listen and watch the full output, not just the local source files, so you can catch silence, clipping, an unexpected gap, or a visual that fails to loop as intended.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview: Confirm that YouTube receives the feed and that the preview shows the correct image and audible music before you make the stream public or promote it. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance and checking the preview.
- Check the viewer experience: Open the watch page and confirm playback, audio level, and the intended visibility. If you plan to keep an archive, confirm that the replay settings and permissions fit that use.
YouTube’s setup guidance is at Set up your encoder for live streaming; its live-streaming tips recommend advance preparation, a preview check, and ongoing monitoring.
Plan upload bandwidth and monitoring
Compare the encoder’s total outgoing stream bitrate with the upload bandwidth actually available while the stream is running. YouTube recommends keeping the total stream bitrate below available upload bandwidth and leaving 20% room. Include other network traffic; if you send primary and backup streams, include both in the total. Network disruption can break a stream. See YouTube’s network, encoder, and bitrate guidance.

Use a reliable connection and monitor the stream’s audio, video, and connection status. Ethernet is an optional practical way to connect a computer to a wired network, not a YouTube requirement or a guarantee against drops. Decide in advance who will notice a failure and how they will respond; YouTube’s guidance recommends monitoring but does not promise automatic restart or continuous uptime.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test the operating plan before calling it 24/7
Run a test before sharing the stream as an always-on channel. Check that the music plays at a consistent level, the visual remains in motion or displays as intended, the encoder is sending the feed, and playback works from the public watch page. Also test who will monitor it and what they can do if the encoder, connection, or YouTube stream fails.

Check your Live Control Room and current platform guidance for your channel’s situation.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a pre-recorded music program to keep streaming to YouTube without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. The basic setup is:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video or playlist from the cloud.
Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Every slot streams the uploaded quality, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera, and streams to YouTube only. Review StreamNeo plans or start your free first day.
