To live stream from an iPhone, open the YouTube app, tap Create > Live, set your stream details, then tap Go live. Your channel must meet YouTube’s mobile-live eligibility rules, and first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
Check whether your channel can go live from an iPhone
YouTube Help lists these requirements for mobile live streaming:
- Your channel has at least 50 subscribers.
- Your channel is verified.
- Live streaming is turned on for the channel.
- Your channel has had no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- Your iPhone runs iOS 8 or later, YouTube’s stated iOS baseline for mobile streaming.
YouTube also sets a platform-wide minimum age of 16 to live stream. This is separate from the device requirement. After you first turn on live streaming, activation may take up to 24 hours; that delay applies to initial enablement, not necessarily to later broadcasts.
How do I live stream on YouTube from my iPhone?
- Open the YouTube app and sign in to the channel you want to use.
- Tap Create > Live. If the Live option is missing, check the eligibility and troubleshooting sections below.
- Tap Edit to set up your broadcast. Enter its title and other stream details, then choose the visibility and audience settings.
- Choose optional setup features if they suit your broadcast. You can schedule the stream for later or select Screencast to share your screen.
- Tap Go live when you are ready to begin broadcasting.
- Tap Finish to end the stream. YouTube shows a recap with stream statistics and creates an archive on your channel. You can change the archive’s privacy or delete it.
Choose visibility and audience deliberately
You can set a mobile stream to public, private, or unlisted. YouTube’s mobile workflow uses an unlisted privacy default for creators aged 13–17 and a public default for creators 18 or older, so check the setting before you start. A public stream is discoverable; an unlisted one is accessible to people with its link; a private stream is restricted. Select the audience setting that accurately describes the content, too.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
What small channels should expect
Meeting the 50-subscriber threshold makes mobile live streaming available subject to the other requirements; it does not guarantee an unrestricted audience. YouTube may limit the audience for mobile streams from channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, and may set the stream archive to private by default. Once a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, removing the audience limitation can take several weeks. YouTube says a channel does not lose mobile-live access unless it falls below 50 subscribers.
Why can’t I go live from my phone?
- The Live option is absent: Confirm that the channel has at least 50 subscribers, is verified, and has live streaming enabled. Make sure you are signed in to the correct channel and that the app is up to date.
- You just enabled live streaming: Initial activation may take up to 24 hours. If it has not become available yet, wait for activation rather than repeatedly changing settings.
- Your channel has a restriction: YouTube’s mobile eligibility requires no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Check YouTube Studio or account notifications for channel status and policy notices.
- Your audience is limited or the archive is private: This may be expected for a channel below 1,000 subscribers. Reaching 1,000 does not necessarily remove the limitation immediately.
- The stream starts with the wrong privacy: Review visibility during setup; the default differs by age group and may not match your intention.
If the channel and device meet the listed requirements but the option remains unavailable, consult YouTube Help and check the account’s current restrictions and live-stream status.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
When the iPhone app is the right method
Direct mobile streaming suits a vlog, field report, interview update, or other broadcast where portability matters more than a production desk. YouTube describes mobile live as useful for vlogging and quick updates, and says, “You do not need expensive equipment, what you have at hand will do” in its YouTube live streaming tips.
The official mobile workflow requires an eligible phone and channel, not a separately purchased accessory. A tripod or mount may help keep framing steady, but it is optional. If the programme needs gameplay, overlays, preamps, or multiple cameras, YouTube’s encoder workflow is intended for more involved setups.

Vertical or horizontal?
Choose the orientation that fits the material and how viewers will watch. YouTube says vertical live streams can be discovered in the Shorts feed. Its Live Control Room workflow can support simultaneous horizontal and vertical output with layout controls, but do not assume those dual-format controls are available when you stream directly from the iPhone app.

For a 24/7 YouTube channel built around uploaded documentaries or other prerecorded videos, StreamNeo is a different option from going live with the iPhone camera: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price regardless of quality; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
