Spotify does not document a built-in 432 Hz setting. To retune songs you already stream, the clearest documented workaround is Spotify Web Player in a desktop browser with a third-party pitch-shifting extension. For listening on a phone or Spotify Connect speaker, look for recordings already made in 432 Hz tuning instead.
What does 432 Hz mean?
In this context, 432 Hz refers to the tuning reference for the note A4: A4 is set to 432 cycles per second rather than the common A=440 Hz reference. That change lowers the music by about 0.32 semitones. It does not mean every note or sound in a song is a 432 Hz tone.
The difference is subtle. A pitch-shifting tool can lower a track without slowing it, but whether it preserves tempo depends on the tool. The 432 Player says its browser extension shifts pitch while keeping tempo; that is the vendor’s claim, not an independent test. 432 Player product information
Does Spotify have a 432 Hz setting?
Spotify’s documented audio controls do not include a pitch or tuning reference switch. Its equalizer changes the balance of bass and treble; it does not retune a recording. Volume normalization adjusts perceived loudness, not pitch. Spotify’s equalizer menu is under Profile picture → Settings and privacy → Playback → Equalizer on iOS and Android, and Profile picture → Settings → Playback → Equalizer on desktop. Menu labels can vary by app version. These controls adjust tone balance, not the A=440-to-A=432 tuning.
Retune Spotify Web Player with a browser extension
The 432 Player extension is the most clearly documented route for changing the pitch of Spotify streaming without downloading tracks. Its FAQ recommends Chrome and says the extension works with web-based services including Spotify; other Chromium-based browsers may work, but compatibility is not guaranteed. 432 Player FAQ · 432 Player’s Spotify instructions
- Open Chrome on a computer. The vendor recommends Chrome for the extension.
- Install the 432 Player extension using the vendor’s current instructions.
- Open Spotify Web Player in the same browser, sign in, and start a track.
- Open the extension and select 432 Hz as the target tuning.
- Check the extension’s status to confirm conversion is active, then compare the same passage at 440 Hz and 432 Hz.
The extension processes browser playback in real time, according to its maker; it does not change Spotify’s original file. A refresh or browser restart may be needed if the extension was installed while Spotify was already open. The vendor FAQ states a three-day trial, but trial terms and paid features can change.

How to tell whether the change is working
Use the same sustained vocal or instrumental passage and switch between 440 Hz and 432 Hz. The converted version should sound slightly lower. If it also sounds slower, check for a playback-speed setting or another audio tool; the vendor says its pitch shifting preserves tempo, but that behavior should be confirmed in your setup. Comparing unrelated recordings is less useful because their performances and mastering can differ.
What works on mobile?
The Spotify iOS and Android apps do not document a 432 Hz tuning control. The 432 Player markets mobile playback for uses such as local files and radio, but its clearest instructions for retuning Spotify identify the browser extension. Do not assume a standalone mobile app can intercept audio from the native Spotify app. 432 Player FAQ · 432 Player Android listing
If you need Spotify on a phone, the straightforward option is to search for tracks or playlists labeled 432 Hz and play them in Spotify’s normal app. If you have legally obtained audio files, a separate local-file player may offer offline retuning; that is a different workflow from streaming Spotify.

Spotify Connect, Bluetooth, and offline playback

A browser extension works in the browser’s audio path. When you hand playback off to a smart speaker, television, console, car system, or other Spotify Connect device, the browser’s processing may no longer reach the sound. Spotify also says its local audio settings cannot be changed while Connect is playing on another device. Bluetooth
Bluetooth does not automatically prevent a browser-side converter from working: processed audio can be sent from the computer to paired headphones or a speaker. It can add another variable, though, so wired headphones are a useful baseline when troubleshooting. Spotify notes that Bluetooth and some external playback paths can affect lossless audio quality; that is a quality-path issue, not a tuning control. Find existing 432 Hz tracks on Spotify
Search Spotify for phrases such as “432 Hz,” “A=432,” “432 tuning,” or “432 Hz meditation.” Spotify has playlists labeled for 432 Hz, including “432 Hz Meditation.” This is the easiest no-extension option and works through the ordinary Spotify app, including Connect.
A playlist title is not technical verification that every track is tuned to A=432 Hz. Prefer a track whose artist or producer describes its tuning, and treat the label as a claim if that information is absent. Existing playlists also cannot retune arbitrary songs in your library.

Some listeners prefer the slightly lower sound, but preference is not proof of a medical effect. A pilot study has compared music tuned to 432 Hz and 440 Hz, but a limited study cannot establish broad health benefits. It is reasonable to use 432 Hz as a listening preference or personal experiment, not as a substitute for medical care.
Troubleshoot the most common problems
The extension has no effect
- Make sure playback is in Spotify Web Player, not the native desktop app.
- Refresh the Spotify tab after installing the extension, and check that it is enabled for the site.
- Restart the browser and test again; another extension or a browser update may interfere.

The effect vanishes on another device
Return playback to the computer and keep it local. A Connect handoff can bypass browser processing; pair Bluetooth directly with the computer if you want to listen through wireless headphones while keeping that processing in the path.
The audio glitches or seems lower quality
Try wired headphones, close unnecessary tabs and applications, and compare playback with the extension off. Browser processing, Bluetooth, or a busy computer can complicate diagnosis. Spotify offers different audio-quality options depending on device and plan, but higher source quality does not convert a track to 432 Hz. Spotify audio-quality guidance
A 432 Hz playlist sounds unchanged
The track may not actually be retuned, or the subtle pitch difference may be hard to notice. Compare the same passage in both tunings when possible, rather than comparing different songs or versions.
