To keep one video repeating in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. To repeat a playlist of videos, add a VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. These settings repeat media playback; they do not guarantee that OBS stays connected to YouTube or another streaming platform.
Choose the right OBS source

OBS describes Media Sources as a way to use media files in a scene, while VLC Video provides playlist support. See the OBS Sources Guide and OBS Media Sources documentation.
Make one video repeat
- In OBS, select the scene where the video should appear.
- In the Sources dock, click + and choose Media Source.
- Create or select the source, then choose the local video file in its properties.
- Enable Loop and confirm the properties.
- Check that the source is visible in the scene and that the video plays again after reaching its end.
OBS documents Loop as replaying the file once playback has completed. The setting belongs to that media source, not to the stream connection.
Make a playlist repeat
- Select the intended scene, then click + in the Sources dock.
- Choose VLC Video. If it does not appear, install VLC; OBS specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- Add the video files to the source’s playlist in the order you want them to play.
- In the VLC Video source properties, check that Loop Playlist is enabled. Although OBS documents it as on by default, inspect the setting rather than relying on the default.
- Keep the source visible in the scene and verify that playback returns to the start after the last file.
Loop Playlist is the repeat setting. Shuffle changes the playlist order; it does not make a playlist repeat. OBS documents Loop Playlist as restarting the source when it runs out of media files. The source implementation is also available in the OBS VLC source code.

If the video stops or the stream drops
- The single video ends and stays ended: Open the Media Source properties and check Loop.
- The playlist ends and stays ended: Open VLC Video properties and check Loop Playlist.
- VLC Video is missing from Sources: Install VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
- The source is not visible: Confirm it belongs to the active scene and is not hidden.
- OBS playback continues but the live stream disconnects: A looping setting only controls playback. Check the platform connection and network separately; the OBS media-source documentation does not promise that looping will prevent stream interruptions.
