If you mean a podcast that keeps gaining episodes, connect its RSS feed to a YouTube podcast in Studio: eligible new episodes can then upload automatically. That creates a growing episode catalog, not a continuous live broadcast. If you mean a literal stream that stays live around the clock, use YouTube Live with an encoder instead; it is a separate setup.
Choose the right meaning of “stream running”
YouTube podcasts are playlists of full-length video episodes. For an audio-first show, RSS delivery can turn selected feed episodes into videos with the show’s artwork as a static image. Once the feed is connected and published, eligible new episodes added to it can upload automatically, subject to regional availability and the setup being correct. This is episode publishing, not an always-on live broadcast. YouTube describes podcasts as playlists, and its RSS delivery guidance explains the feed workflow.
| What you want | Use | What happens when you add content |
|---|---|---|
| A podcast catalog that grows as episodes are released | A YouTube podcast playlist, optionally connected to an RSS feed | New eligible RSS episodes can upload automatically. Previously published episode audio does not update in place when the feed file changes. |
| A continuous live broadcast | YouTube Live with an encoder | The encoder sends a live signal using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. RSS publishing does not maintain this broadcast. |
Set up a podcast that adds episodes from RSS
1. Create or identify the podcast playlist
In YouTube Studio, create a podcast or assign podcast features to an existing playlist. Keep the podcast playlist for full-length episodes in listening order; use a separate playlist for Shorts, clips, trailers, or other excerpts. An MP3 alone cannot be added as a podcast episode in Studio: the episode needs to be a video. For an audio-first show, RSS delivery can make a video using the feed’s artwork and episode audio. See YouTube’s podcast creation instructions.
2. Connect and verify the feed
- Check whether RSS delivery is available in your country or region. YouTube offers it only in selected locations.
- In Studio, open Content > Podcasts, select the podcast, open Details, then its RSS settings.
- Connect the show’s RSS feed and verify ownership using the code YouTube emails to the feed owner.
The exact options shown can depend on whether you are connecting a feed to an existing podcast or setting one up. Follow the current Studio prompts and YouTube’s instructions for publishing or disconnecting RSS episodes.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Select episodes and review before publishing
Choose which feed episodes to publish from the podcast’s Details page. YouTube recommends waiting for selected episodes to finish uploading and reviewing them for copyright or monetization issues before publishing the newly connected feed. Set the podcast’s default visibility to private, unlisted, or public as appropriate; new RSS episodes use that default. If the podcast already has episodes on YouTube, select feed episodes after the latest one already published there to reduce the chance of duplicates.
4. Let new feed entries publish, then check the result
After the feed is connected and episodes are published, new episodes added to the RSS feed can be uploaded automatically to YouTube. Check Studio after the first new release to confirm that the episode uploaded with the intended visibility and details. RSS delivery is for YouTube and YouTube Music; it does not distribute the show to other podcast services.

Manage changes, back catalog, and episode order
- Back-catalog additions: Subscribers are not notified when older episodes are added through RSS, so do not assume an archive migration will announce itself to the audience.
- Correcting an audio file: Editing the RSS audio file does not replace audio in an already published YouTube video. Use Re-upload from RSS feed to make a replacement; the previous video is set to private, and its views and comments remain available to you.
- Editing details in Studio: If you edit episode details directly in Studio, later feed changes to those details are blocked. Decide which location should be authoritative before routinely editing episode metadata.
- Disconnecting the feed: Disconnecting stops future episodes from being uploaded through that feed.
- Ordering an archive: RSS-uploaded episodes appear in the podcast playlist according to the feed release date when present, otherwise YouTube’s publish date. YouTube does not verify the feed release date; the channel’s Videos tab uses YouTube upload date. For a large migration, expect playlist order and upload-date order to differ.
- Sponsored episodes: Disclose branded content and follow YouTube’s policies when a podcast includes sponsorships, endorsements, or other branded content.
These behaviors are covered in YouTube’s RSS delivery guidance and its episode publishing and disconnect instructions.
If you need a literal always-on live broadcast
Use YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and an encoder configured with the stream URL and stream key. Reusing stream settings and enabling auto-start or auto-stop are available live-stream settings; these controls do not make RSS episode publishing into a live stream. YouTube’s guidance recommends testing, previewing, confirming access, and monitoring audio and video quality. It recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but does not establish that every creator needs dedicated encoder hardware or promise uninterrupted 24/7 operation. Basic live-stream checks
- Confirm you are configuring a live event in Live Control Room, not just connecting an RSS feed to a podcast.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s corresponding fields, and keep the key private.
- Preview and test the encoder signal before relying on it for a scheduled broadcast; monitor audio and picture while it is running.
- Choose auto-start and auto-stop behavior deliberately if you reuse stream settings, and check the event configuration before going live.
Troubleshoot common podcast and live-stream problems
A new podcast episode did not appear
- Confirm RSS delivery is available in your region and that the feed is still connected and verified.
- Check that the episode is present in the feed and that the selected feed episodes have completed uploading.
- Review the podcast’s default visibility; new feed episodes inherit it and may not be public.
- If you disconnected the feed, reconnect it before expecting subsequent entries to upload.
An episode appeared twice or in an unexpected order
- When adding a feed to a podcast that already has YouTube episodes, select feed entries after the latest episode already on YouTube.
- Review feed release dates: YouTube uses them for podcast-playlist ordering when provided, but does not verify them. The Videos tab follows YouTube upload date instead.
A corrected audio file did not change the published video
That is expected: changing the RSS file does not update audio already published on YouTube. Use Re-upload from RSS feed to create a replacement, and check the resulting video because the earlier one becomes private.
The live encoder is not producing a broadcast
Check that the encoder is using the current stream URL and key, then preview the signal in Live Control Room and verify that the event is configured as intended. YouTube’s live setup guidance recommends testing and monitoring audio and video rather than assuming the encoder is connected correctly.
