Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFirst find out where the sound disappears: at the loop point in OBS, between OBS and YouTube, or only during one viewer’s playback. Those are different problems. Check the source’s loop and audio-track settings, then compare OBS’s meter and local monitoring with the actual YouTube stream. A moving meter—or sound in your headphones—does not prove viewers are receiving audio.
Pinpoint where the audio stops
When the ambience video loops, check whether the silence affects everyone or only the operator. If possible, inspect the YouTube live playback and its archive as well as the sound you hear locally. Note whether the failure occurs exactly at the loop boundary, after a scene transition, or only on one device.
- OBS meter stops moving: investigate the media source, its loop setting, and its audio track.
- Meter moves, but YouTube playback is silent: check whether the audio reaches the stream output; local monitoring alone is not conclusive.
- YouTube playback works for others but not one viewer: troubleshoot that viewer’s device, app, or connection.
A 2025 OBS forum report describes audio audible in OBS but absent from the YouTube stream. Treat it as a reason to verify the transmitted output, not as proof of a particular routing fault: the OBS community discussion.
Check the OBS source and loop controls
For one ambience file: Media Source
- In OBS, open the ambience source’s Properties.
- Check Loop, which replays the file when playback completes.
- Confirm that the audio you expect is part of that file or is supplied by a separate source. If the picture loops but the sound does not, do not assume the video and audio are coming from the same source.
OBS documents its source controls and supported media types on its Media Sources page. It does not promise gapless or glitch-free audio at loop boundaries for every file and setup.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a playlist: VLC Video Source
- Open the VLC Video Source’s Properties and inspect Loop Playlist.
- Check Audio Track to confirm the intended track is selected.
- Verify that VLC is installed. OBS says: “It requires that VLC be installed on your system to show up as an available source in OBS Studio.”
OBS lists playlist looping as on by default, but source settings can be changed, so inspect the actual source rather than relying on the default.
Separate stream output from local monitoring
Monitoring controls affect what the operator hears; they do not by themselves establish what YouTube receives. If audio is audible locally but missing from the live output, check the source’s routing to the stream and run a short controlled test. Change one setting at a time and check the YouTube playback, not just OBS’s meter or headphones.

If you hear repeated or echoing audio rather than silence, close your own stream playback on the streaming computer while diagnosing. Also check whether OBS monitoring and a captured desktop-audio device are creating a feedback path. OBS forum guidance identifies watching your own stream on the streaming machine and sharing the monitoring and desktop device as possible causes of repeated audio; it is community advice, not a confirmed explanation for silence after looping: the forum discussion.
Rule out a viewer-side playback problem
If the transmitted stream has audio but a particular viewer hears silence, test another device or connection. YouTube Help recommends changing connections, clearing the app cache, updating or restarting the app or device, and manually adjusting playback quality. It also notes that network congestion can affect live programming. These checks help isolate a viewer-specific problem; they do not explain a source that consistently goes silent at the loop boundary for everyone.

Test media format or OBS-version leads carefully
Historical OBS reports describe particular monitoring and AAC-loop scenarios. One concerns audio-only Media Source monitoring; another reports an AAC file failing to loop in the reporter’s setup while remuxed M4A or MP4 files worked. These reports do not establish a defect in current OBS versions or a universal conversion fix: historical monitoring report and historical AAC-loop report.

If the basic checks do not resolve the fault, preserve the original file and compare it with a controlled alternate source or remuxed copy. Record the OBS version, operating system, source type, file format, and whether silence affects the stream/archive or only local monitoring. Use a short local recording and, if needed, a private or unlisted stream; change one variable per test so the result identifies a cause rather than merely coinciding with a change.
