OBS has no documented automatic intro-card detector or remover.
First identify where the intro card comes from
The card is part of each lesson video
A playlist repeats the media files you give it; it does not remove scenes from inside them. If every lesson begins with the card, edit the source videos or export intro-free copies before adding them to the playlist. This is a practical consequence of OBS’s documented media-source behavior, not an automatic OBS editing feature. See the OBS media sources documentation.
If you want one opening card at the start of the broadcast, use a separate asset and arrange for it to appear at that point only. The lesson files themselves should not each contain an opening you do not want repeated.
The card is a separate OBS source
Inspect the scene and its source visibility. If the card is a separate image, video, or scene element, configure it to appear only when needed rather than leaving it visible over every lesson. This is a workflow recommendation based on OBS source controls; OBS does not prescribe a particular education-stream scene setup.

Set up a looping lesson playlist in OBS
Prepare the files and playback order
- Edit or export the lessons so each file begins where you want its repeated playback to begin.
- Choose and check the order of the lesson files before going live. Preview the transition from the end of the list back to its beginning.
- Keep a separate opening card as its own source if you want it once at the start rather than at the beginning of every lesson.
For several lessons: use VLC Video
- Install VLC, then add a VLC Video source in OBS.
- Add the prepared lesson files to the VLC Video playlist in the intended order.
- Enable Loop Playlist so playback returns to the beginning after the final item.
- Preview the playlist and check that no lesson still contains an unwanted intro card.
The VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. OBS specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. OBS documents VLC Video as a playlist source; see its media sources documentation.
For one lesson: use Media Source
If only one file should repeat, add it as a Media Source and enable its Loop setting. This is distinct from the Loop Playlist control for a VLC Video source.

Preview and monitor the live output
Before relying on the stream, preview the lesson sequence and verify what viewers receive in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends previewing there and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. A scene that looks right in OBS is not a substitute for checking the platform’s live output.
Check YouTube eligibility, content rights, and monetization
Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The same guidance lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. These platform requirements can change, so check the current YouTube live-streaming eligibility and restrictions guidance before configuring a broadcast.

Make sure you have the rights to everything in the stream
YouTube’s live-stream terms require streamed content to comply with Community Guidelines and require the provider to have the necessary rights for use of the content on Google services. Confirm permission for each lesson and for any included music or third-party material; owning a lesson file does not by itself establish rights to every element in it. See YouTube’s terms.
Understand the monetization distinction
YouTube’s monetization policy, updated July 15, 2025, says that the same intro and outro can be allowed when the bulk of each video is different. It also warns that highly repetitive or interchangeable content with little educational value can be ineligible. The stated examples apply to live streaming as well as other video formats, but the policy is assessed at the channel and content level; this wording does not guarantee a decision about any particular 24/7 stream. Plan for the archive limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a complete replay, do not assume one uninterrupted all-day broadcast will produce a full YouTube archive: consider local recording or planned segments. The limit is described in YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.
Troubleshoot repeated cards and playlist behavior
