Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To interact with a web page embedded in OBS Studio, select its Browser Source and click Interact in the source toolbar. You can also right-click the source and choose Interact. A separate window opens where you can click, scroll and type on the page without leaving OBS.
Open the Browser Source interaction window
- In the scene that contains the page, select its Browser Source in the Sources dock. If you have not added it yet, use Sources to add a Browser Source, then configure the page in its properties. OBS describes Browser Source as a web page embedded in a scene, commonly used for alert overlays and chat boxes. See the OBS Sources Guide.
- With the source selected, click Interact in the source toolbar. Alternatively, right-click the source in the Sources dock and select Interact.
- Use the interaction window to click links and controls, move the pointer, scroll, or enter text. Close the window when you are finished; the page remains a source in the scene.
The interaction feature is for controlling the page inside OBS. It does not make the page interactive for viewers watching your stream; viewers see the rendered scene.
Check the Browser Source properties
If the wrong page appears, or the embedded page does not fit the scene, select the source and open Properties. OBS documents settings for loading either a URL or a local file, viewport width and height, custom CSS, frame rate, permissions and page refresh behavior. The documented default viewport is 800 by 600 pixels; set dimensions that suit the layout you want in your scene. See the OBS Browser Source guide.
- URL or local file: Check that the source points to the intended web address or file.
- Width and height: Adjust the embedded page’s viewport to match the overlay or scene layout. Changing the viewport is different from resizing the source in the scene.
- Refresh: If a page looks stale, choose Refresh cache of current page in the source properties.
- Visibility behavior: The properties include options to unload the page while the source is hidden and to refresh it when its scene becomes active. These can affect how quickly the page is ready when you return to the scene.
What you can control—and what you cannot
OBS’s source interaction API documents mouse clicks, pointer movement, wheel input, focus and key presses. That is the input available through the Interact window; whether a particular button or keyboard shortcut works still depends on the page itself. The API reference is for OBS Studio 33.0.0: OBS Source API Reference.

Browser Source is based on Chrome Embedded Framework (CEF). OBS lists support through its official packages for Windows, macOS and Linux; the obs-browser project README says the plugin is included by default in official packages on Windows, macOS, the Ubuntu PPA and the official Flatpak. See the obs-browser README. Availability can differ if you use a third-party build or a customized installation.
When to use a normal browser and capture its window
If you need to work in your everyday browser rather than in OBS’s embedded page, open the site in that browser and capture its window in OBS. This is a different workflow: the page is operated in the ordinary browser, while OBS captures that window. A community answer in the OBS forum thread “Show Web site” describes this option and notes that audio may require Browser Source’s audio-control property or a separate Audio Output Capture when using Window Capture. The right choice depends on whether you want the page embedded as a scene source or need to use your usual browser window.

Troubleshoot common interaction problems
- You do not see Interact: Select the Browser Source itself in the Sources dock, then look for Interact in the source toolbar or right-click that source. Make sure you have selected the page source rather than a different item in the scene.
- The page displays but does not respond: Open its Interact window and click within the page. Confirm the page has finished loading and that the control you are trying to use is interactive on the site.
- The page is outdated or blank after being hidden: Use Refresh cache of current page in Properties. Also check whether unload-when-hidden or refresh-when-active behavior is enabled.
- The content is clipped or scaled unexpectedly: Review the source’s viewport width and height in Properties, then adjust the source’s size and position in the scene as needed.
- Page audio is missing in a captured browser window: Check the audio setup for that workflow. The forum guidance notes Browser Source audio controls or a separate Audio Output Capture as possible approaches; the correct choice depends on your OBS audio configuration.
