Spotify’s U.S. Premium page showed a one-month Premium Individual trial for $0, followed by $12.99 per month, when checked on August 18, 2026. It is not guaranteed to appear for every account: your eligibility and the offer shown at checkout control. To avoid the recurring charge, cancel before the trial ends—or cancel immediately and accept that Spotify says a zero-priced trial ends at once.
Start only at Spotify’s official Premium page. Before confirming, note the trial length, renewal timing, and recurring price. Spotify may place a temporary authorization hold on your payment method; that is different from the subscription charge.

Offers vary by country, account history, plan, student verification, and expiration date. Treat the offer displayed for your account on Spotify’s U.S. Premium page and checkout as authoritative—not an old search result or coupon page.
On August 18, 2026, Spotify’s U.S. page showed these prices and offers. They are observations for the U.S. market on that date, not guaranteed prices or offers for every user or future checkout.

Check whether your account qualifies
Spotify says free-trial eligibility is based on account information. For the offer described on its U.S. support page, people are typically ineligible if they have already had a trial, previously purchased Premium, or belonged to a Premium Family or Duo plan. Spotify’s terms generally require a user to be new to paid subscriptions and not to have previously accepted a paid-subscription trial, unless a particular offer says otherwise. Eligibility is offer-specific, so rely on the decision Spotify shows for your account.

- Sign in to the Spotify account you intend to use. If you have used another email address or sign-in method, check whether an older account might hold your subscription history.
- Consider whether you previously paid for Premium, used a trial, or joined a Family or Duo plan.
- If applying for a student offer, confirm that you can complete Spotify’s verification for an eligible higher-education institution and that the promotion is still active.
- Check that your country and payment details match the market where you are signing up.
Spotify’s list of typical trial exclusions is in its free-trial charge support article. Do not create repeated accounts to get around an eligibility decision, or buy accounts, leaked codes, or modified applications; those are not legitimate trial methods.
Sign up through Spotify and record the renewal terms
- Go to Spotify’s official U.S. Premium page.
- Log in to the account you want to use, or create one if needed.
- Review the offer Spotify displays. Confirm the plan, trial length, amount due now, renewal date or billing timing, and recurring price. If a student offer appears, complete the required verification.
- Continue through Spotify’s checkout. Enter a payment method if requested, then review the terms once more before activating the trial.
- Save the confirmation email or receipt. Open your account page and record the billing date and renewal price; take a screenshot of the checkout terms if useful.
Spotify’s terms say a trial may require valid, current payment details approved by Spotify. Prepaid cards and Spotify gift cards are not valid for relevant trials unless an offer explicitly says otherwise. A debit card, virtual card, or PayPal account should not be treated as a way to prevent billing: an approved payment method can still be charged when a trial converts to a paid plan.

Choose how to avoid the recurring charge
Unless you cancel before the trial ends, Spotify’s terms say it will charge the payment method the then-current recurring price on the first day after the trial, or at another interval disclosed at checkout.

Cancel a Spotify-billed trial
- Open your Spotify account page.
- Go to Manage your plan.
- Select Cancel subscription.
- Complete the confirmation prompts, then check the account page or confirmation message to verify the plan status.
Spotify’s cancellation instructions are at Cancel your Premium plan. Do not assume that canceling inside Spotify stops a plan billed by a partner. For a subscription obtained through a carrier, app store, internet provider, or other distributor, open Manage your plan, check the Payment section, and follow the partner contact or cancellation instructions. The partner may control cancellation.

Understand a small pending payment
Spotify says a nominal authorization hold may appear when you start a free trial. It verifies the payment method and is not necessarily the recurring subscription fee. Check whether your bank labels it as an authorization, pending transaction, verification, or temporary hold. Spotify does not specify a fixed release time; the bank’s processing affects when it disappears. If it remains or looks like a completed charge, contact your bank or Spotify support.
If Spotify says you are not eligible
- Make sure you are signed in to the intended account. If you may have used another email address or login method before, check that account too.
- Review whether you previously had Premium, accepted a trial, or belonged to a Family or Duo plan.
- Check the country and payment details for the account and the offer you are viewing.
- If you are a student, confirm that you meet the offer’s verification requirements and that the promotion has not expired.
If the offer is unavailable, use Spotify Free or consider a paid plan only if it fits your needs. Family and Duo are intended for people at the same address, not as trial substitutes for a single user. Spotify lists its free option at Spotify Free; it is ad-supported.

If you were charged unexpectedly
A charge appeared after the trial
- Compare the transaction date with the trial end date and check whether cancellation was completed beforehand.
- Check whether Spotify or a third party billed the subscription.
- Confirm the account that holds the active plan. If Spotify shows Free while you are being charged, the subscription may be attached to another account; try other login details you may have used.
- Review receipts and plan or payment details from your account page. Spotify explains trial charges and receipts in its free-trial support article.
A charge appeared after you canceled
Keep the cancellation confirmation, screenshots of the account status and signup terms, relevant Spotify receipts, and the bank transaction details. Contact Spotify support; if a partner billed the plan, contact that provider as well. A refund is not guaranteed by the information here.
