To enable Super Chat on a looping YouTube live stream, your channel must be eligible for YouTube Supers. In YouTube Studio, go to Earn > Supers > Get started, complete the prompts and accept the Commerce Product Module if asked, then switch on Super Chat. YouTube documents no separate setting for looping streams: the same eligibility and live-chat requirements apply.
Check eligibility before looking for the setting
The Supers tab appears only for eligible channels. You need to be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program, be at least 18, live in a location where Super Chat is available, and accept and comply with the applicable Commerce Product Module (or an earlier Commerce Product Addendum). See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility guidance.
Super Chat also depends on live chat being available. A loop itself does not bypass these requirements or add a separate activation switch.
Turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio for the channel that will host the loop.
- In the left menu, select Earn, then open Supers.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen prompts. Accept the Commerce Product Module if prompted.
- Switch on Super Chat. Super Stickers have a separate switch; enabling them is optional.
If you use an encoder to send a prerecorded loop, YouTube’s standard workflow is to enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key in the encoder and start sending the stream. The encoder workflow does not replace the Studio Supers setup, and YouTube does not require a particular encoder for Super Chat.

Make sure viewers can actually use Super Chat
Super Chat is a paid, highlighted message in live chat. It is not available for a video or stream that is private, unlisted, age-restricted, Made for Kids, or associated with a YouTube Giving fundraiser. It is also unavailable when chat or comments are off. Check the stream’s visibility and audience settings as well as its chat controls; see YouTube’s feature restrictions.
Viewers watching an embedded player cannot use live chat there. Ask them to open the stream’s YouTube watch page if chat is missing from the embed. YouTube’s explanation of chat availability is at YouTube Help: Use live chat.

Keep a looping stream suitable for monetization
Turning on Super Chat does not guarantee that the stream or channel will qualify for monetization in every respect. YouTube expects monetized content to be original and authentic, and says repetitive or mass-produced material with little variation or viewer value may be ineligible. Its monetization policies apply to live streams, but they do not say that every loop is automatically disqualified. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies, and make sure you have the necessary rights to all audio and visual material. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for required rights, including music licensing rights, on the content provider: YouTube Terms of Service.
What happens to the replay on an all-day stream?
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive and replay limitation; YouTube’s guidance does not say that reaching 12 hours turns off Super Chat during the live broadcast. If preserving the full recording matters, make a local recording rather than relying on YouTube’s archive. See YouTube Help: archive live streams.

Troubleshoot a missing Supers tab or unavailable Super Chat
- Supers is missing in Studio: YouTube surfaces the tab only when the channel is eligible. Confirm YPP status, age, country availability, and acceptance of the applicable commerce terms before troubleshooting the stream itself.
- Super Chat is switched on but unavailable on this stream: Check that the stream is public, not age-restricted, not Made for Kids, not a YouTube Giving fundraiser, and that live chat is enabled.
- Viewers cannot see chat: Have them open the YouTube watch page instead of an embedded player, and confirm chat is not disabled for the stream.
- The stream is live but the replay is missing or incomplete: For broadcasts longer than 12 hours, automatic archiving is not assured. Keep a local recording when a complete replay is important.
