How to Create a YouTube Live Loop of Conference Sponsor Presentations After an Event

A practical guide to replaying conference sponsor presentations as a YouTube Live loop with OBS, including permissions, setup, testing, and alternatives.

To replay conference sponsor presentations as a YouTube Live broadcast, create or schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, then use OBS Studio to play the recordings in a loop and send that feed to YouTube. YouTube’s player loop setting does not broadcast prerecorded video as a live stream. Before going live, confirm rebroadcast rights for the talks, slides, music, and any other material in the recordings.

Before you set up the loop

Confirm permissions and prepare the recordings

Get permission to rebroadcast each presentation and its slides, music, logos, and embedded third-party material. A recording made for the original conference is not automatically cleared for a later public livestream. Keep written permissions available, and ask rights holders whether they need to allowlist your channel in YouTube Content ID.

Put the videos in the intended order and review them through to the end. Preserve speaker names, sponsor titles, and enough event context for viewers arriving after the conference. A short slate between talks can make the handoff clearer, but YouTube does not require one.

Check that the channel can livestream

YouTube’s live-stream tips say a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check eligibility before announcing the broadcast; platform requirements may change.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
  2. Create or schedule an encoder stream. Set its title, description, visibility, and other stream details. YouTube supports public, private, and unlisted streams.
  3. In Live Control Room, locate the stream URL and stream key for the encoder. Treat the key as a credential: YouTube Help describes stream keys as like a stream’s “password and address.” Share it only with staff who need access, and do not expose it in screenshots, documents, or public chat.

Build the repeating playback in OBS

OBS sends the video and audio output from its sources to YouTube. Choose the source type based on whether you have one recording or a fixed playlist.

OBS source Best fit Loop control and consideration
Media Source One presentation video Enable Loop in the source settings. OBS documentation lists supported file types including MP4, MOV, MKV, and AVI.
VLC Video Several presentations in a fixed order Add the videos as a playlist and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for this source.

These options provide different workflows, not a documented performance advantage for one over the other. The Media Source repeats its file; VLC Video repeats its playlist. OBS documentation does not promise seamless transitions, so watch the end of one item and the start of the next during your test.

  2. Select the reviewed recording or add playlist items in the order you want them played.
  3. Turn on Loop for Media Source or Loop Playlist for VLC Video.
  4. Check that the source fits the scene and that its audio is audible. Test playback through a full transition, not just the opening seconds.

Connect OBS to YouTube and test

  1. In OBS’s stream settings, choose the YouTube service or configure the provided stream destination, then enter the stream URL and key from Live Control Room. Use RTMPS when supported; YouTube describes it as encrypted RTMP.
  2. Set the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to suit the source material and available upload capacity. Follow YouTube’s current encoder settings recommendations for codec, bitrate, and keyframes; the appropriate values depend on the chosen resolution and frame rate.
  3. Allow time for setup: YouTube recommends configuring the encoder at least two hours before the stream and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event.
  4. Start sending the OBS feed and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Test the watch page on desktop and mobile, including picture, sound, and the repeat behavior.
  5. When the preview is correct, select Go Live in Live Control Room if the setup requires it. Monitor the broadcast and OBS playback while it runs.
  6. When the loop is finished, stop the encoder and end the stream in Live Control Room. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that guidance does not establish that a longer stream will receive a complete archive.

Rights, interruptions, and handoff

Copyright checks can interrupt a licensed broadcast

YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator; unresolved use can interrupt or terminate the stream. A license by itself may not prevent interruption: YouTube says the rights owner may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Clear the recordings in advance and arrange allowlisting where relevant.

Redirect viewers when the loop ends

If you want to send viewers to another live event or a Premiere, YouTube’s Live Redirect feature may fit. The sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. A destination on another channel may need to grant permission.

Troubleshoot common problems

  • YouTube shows no incoming video: Confirm OBS is sending, and check that the stream URL and key match the active encoder stream in Live Control Room. Reset or replace an exposed key rather than continuing to use it.
  • The broadcast is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: Check for a YouTube copyright warning. Confirm permissions for the flagged material and ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting.
  • The playlist does not play or repeat: Confirm the VLC Video source has a valid playlist, VLC is installed, and Loop Playlist is enabled. For a single file, check that the Media Source points to the intended file and Loop is enabled.
  • Transitions are abrupt or a talk is missing: Review the playlist order and test through every item boundary. Add a transition slate or revise the playback sequence if needed.
  • Playback stutters or stream health is poor: Compare the configured bitrate and output settings with YouTube’s current recommendations and the available upload capacity. Test again before the public start time.
  • The archive is incomplete or absent: YouTube’s automatic-archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours. Do not rely on it as a guarantee for a longer broadcast; retain the source recordings.
