Before going live, confirm channel eligibility, clear rights for every recording and piece of music, test the actual feed, and plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive limitation. This guide covers the production workflow for churches in India, including a cloud option that does not require a computer at the church to stay on.
Choose how the stream will run
There are two practical approaches: run an encoder under the church’s control, or use a cloud service designed to keep uploaded recordings streaming. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes Gyre as “a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of pre-recorded videos on YouTube”; that listing is not a performance endorsement or a comparison of vendors. YouTube’s encoder guidance
| Approach | What the church operates | What to check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Church-operated encoder | A software or hardware encoder, its power and network connection, and the video source or playlist. | Looping and scheduling, restart procedure, monitoring, recovery after a dropped connection, local recording, and the church’s ability to keep the equipment and connection running. |
| Cloud streaming service | The service account, uploaded recordings and YouTube connection; the service handles the cloud-side stream. | Looping and scheduling controls, recovery behavior, alerts and monitoring, local archive options, terms, and total cost. YouTube’s listing does not establish these details for every provider. |
For an encoder workflow, use YouTube Studio to create or schedule the live stream, then connect the encoder using YouTube’s stream URL and key. The key is a credential: it tells the encoder where to send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it, so do not share it publicly.
Clear the recordings and music before streaming
Make a rights inventory before uploading or scheduling anything. A church’s ownership of a video file does not necessarily include rights to the music, performance, composition, prayer text, or other material in it. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for necessary rights on the person providing the content, including music licensing rights. YouTube Terms of Service

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- List each recording and identify who controls the relevant rights.
- Check separately for the musical composition, sound recording, performers, spoken material, and any third-party footage or images.
- Obtain permission for the intended online live broadcast and, if applicable, an archived replay. Keep records of permissions and any limits on use.
In India, section 52(1)(za) addresses performance or communication of literary, dramatic or musical works or sound recordings in the course of a bona fide religious ceremony. The Copyright Office’s public notice discusses the provision in relation to marriage-related functions and sound recordings. That material does not settle whether a separate recording of a novena, its continuous public rebroadcast on YouTube, or a YouTube archive is covered. Do not treat the religious-ceremony wording as blanket clearance for this setup; get permission for the specific content or seek advice from qualified Indian counsel. Copyright Office public notice
Prepare the YouTube channel
- Verify the channel. YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube live-streaming eligibility
- Allow for activation. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until the planned launch.
- Choose the event format. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the live stream and review its visibility and other event settings before publishing. A continuous devotional program still needs an operating plan for interruptions and archive boundaries.
- Protect the stream key. Copy the stream URL and key from the live setup into the encoder or cloud service. Treat the key like a password; if it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder connection.
Set up and test a 24/7 live stream of prerecorded videos on YouTube
For a church-operated encoder
- Prepare the playlist. Confirm that the files play correctly, have the intended order and duration, and contain only material cleared for the stream. Check the beginning and end of each recording for silence, abrupt cuts, or accidental personal information.
- Connect the encoder. In the encoder’s YouTube or custom RTMP destination settings, enter the stream URL and key from the YouTube event. Select the video source or playlist and enable looping if the encoder supports it. The exact labels differ by encoder.
- Choose settings your connection can sustain. YouTube’s recommended bitrate varies by resolution, frame rate, and codec. Use its current bitrate guidance for the settings you choose rather than copying a universal number. The sustained upload capacity at the church should exceed the stream’s needs, with headroom for normal network variation; using all available upload capacity leaves little room for instability. YouTube recommended encoder settings
- Start privately or unlisted for a real test. Use representative audio and movement from the novena recordings. Check the YouTube preview and stream-health indicators, then listen and watch on a separate device and network if possible. Confirm that the picture, sound, playlist transition, and encoder output are all correct.
- Go live and monitor it. Start the encoder and confirm the feed is live in YouTube Studio. Assign a person to check stream health, picture, sound, network, and encoder status during operation, with a contact and recovery procedure for interruptions. YouTube advises monitoring the stream and testing with representative content. YouTube live-stream troubleshooting
For a cloud service
- Choose a service that explicitly supports continuous streaming of prerecorded video to YouTube, and verify its playlist, looping, restart, monitoring, archive, and pricing terms directly with the provider.
- Upload the cleared recordings and arrange the playlist or loop using that service’s controls.
- Connect the YouTube event with its stream key, preview the feed, and test the full path—including audio and playlist transitions—before making the event public.
- Document how someone at the church can check status, respond to a stopped stream, and confirm that a planned archive was captured.
Plan the archive separately from the continuous broadcast
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, and warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single uninterrupted all-day stream is therefore not a dependable archive strategy. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. YouTube live-stream archives

- Keep local copies of the source recordings and, where practical, a local recording of the program as broadcast.
- Verify that recordings are complete and playable rather than assuming the stream archive exists.
- Decide how to divide or restart long-running broadcasts while preserving a useful viewer experience. The best restart arrangement depends on the church’s schedule and channel needs; confirm current YouTube Studio behavior before launch.
An external SSD is one possible place to keep local video archives; YouTube does not prescribe a storage medium or capacity. Maintain enough separate storage for the material the church intends to retain.
Operate the stream with a human recovery plan
A 24/7 feed still needs oversight. Assign named responsibility rather than relying on an unattended encoder or a scheduled cloud playlist alone.
