You can turn podcast MP3 episodes into a continuous YouTube live stream by pairing their audio with a visual track, sending that audio-video output through an encoder, and connecting the encoder to YouTube with a stream URL and key. For a broadcast that keeps running while your computer is off, a cloud service can handle playback and streaming; a local encoder instead depends on your own device, power, and internet connection.
What you need before you start
An MP3 contains audio, not a complete YouTube live video feed. Your encoder must send audio together with a visual asset, such as show artwork, a branded animation, or video you have permission to use.
- Your podcast MP3 files, organized in the order you want them played.
- A still image, animation, or video track to accompany the audio.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled.
- An encoder: software or hardware operating locally, or a cloud service that supports prerecorded streams.
- Broadcast and archive rights for every episode and all included music, clips, and guest contributions.
A public podcast feed or an existing online upload does not by itself prove you have the rights to rebroadcast or archive that material.
Choose where the stream will run
| Option | Where playback and encoding run | What must remain available | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local encoder | Your computer running encoder software, or a hardware encoder | The device, power, internet connection, and encoder process | You want direct control over local media and encoder settings, and can keep the setup running. |
| Cloud-hosted prerecorded stream | A provider’s cloud service | The provider’s service and configured source or playlist | You want the stream to continue without leaving a home computer on. |
YouTube documents software and hardware encoder options and also identifies a cloud-based category for 24/7 prerecorded streaming, naming Gyre as an example. Its encoder help does not establish providers’ current prices, uptime, playlist details, or features. When evaluating a service, check supported media and playlists, recovery behavior, monitoring, price, and whether it lets you use the YouTube ingest settings you need. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

Set up a local 24/7 stream
1. Prepare the episodes and visual
Gather the MP3s and decide whether you want to play them in a fixed sequence or rotate a playlist. Pair them with an appropriate visual track. Check that the audio is intelligible and that the visual is suitable for a public, continuous broadcast. Confirm rights for the recording, composition, samples, clips, artwork, and other contributions before going live.
2. Enable live streaming and create a stream
- In YouTube, enable live streaming for the channel if it is not already enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Review the stream settings there.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the matching fields in your encoder. Treat the key like an account credential: do not publish it, share it, or include it in a screenshot.
- Configure the encoder to play the podcast audio with the visual track and send the feed to YouTube.
- Check YouTube’s incoming preview and stream health before making the stream public or starting your planned broadcast.
YouTube’s live stream settings guide explains the controls available in Live Control Room. The encoder sends the feed; YouTube provides the stream settings and controls. Exact playlist setup depends on your chosen encoder. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not prescribe one universal MP3 playlist configuration.

3. Choose and test stream quality
Prefer RTMPS, YouTube’s recommended secure extension of RTMP. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, and AAC or MP3 audio. Its current encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate encoding, a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds, and— for stereo audio—a 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps audio bitrate. Choose video resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain reliably, then test with representative audio and motion and monitor stream health.
Consult YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance for settings matched to your output. Do not assume the highest available resolution is best if your connection cannot sustain it.

4. Keep playback continuous and protect your archive
A local 24/7 broadcast depends on the computer or encoder, power, network, and playback process staying available. Plan how you will notice and recover from a stopped encoder, lost connection, or device restart; continuity is an operational responsibility, not a guarantee from YouTube.
A continuous broadcast is not a dependable way to create a complete 24/7 YouTube archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” If complete archives matter, divide the schedule into sessions under 12 hours and keep a local recording as backup. See YouTube’s live archive guidance.

Copyright and monetization: check before broadcasting
Clear all material in the stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies such material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; unresolved issues can lead to interruption or termination. For licensed third-party content, YouTube says to ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say creators represent and warrant that they have the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including relevant music licensing rights. A podcast episode may contain multiple separately controlled elements—such as a sound recording, composition, clip, or guest contribution—so verify that your permissions cover this kind of live broadcast and any archive.

Do not assume a rebroadcast qualifies for monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. Monetized content should be original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible. Its July 15, 2025 update renamed the repetitious-content policy to “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible under the existing policy. Reused-content review is separate from copyright: permission to broadcast material does not by itself establish that a channel meets monetization rules. Check YouTube’s channel monetization policies; do not count on rebroadcasting a podcast catalog to qualify for the YouTube Partner Program.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live; it plays uploaded material rather than broadcasting a camera. To use it, upload your podcast recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the media from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams what you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; automatic recovery is available if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, with one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month.
