To create a 24/7 YouTube Goan ambient music radio channel, clear the rights for every track, confirm your channel is eligible to livestream, then send a tested, looping program to YouTube through an encoder. The hard part is not starting the stream: it is keeping the music rights valid for continuous live use, preparing for Content ID interruptions, and arranging monitoring and recovery.
1. Clear the music before building the stream
Do not assume that a track is safe to broadcast because it is available online, credited to its artist, or licensed for personal listening. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the creator to hold the rights needed to use live content worldwide, including relevant rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants.
For each track, document who controls the relevant rights and obtain written permission that explicitly covers continuous YouTube live broadcasting in your intended territories. If you plan to make replays or archives available, confirm that the permission covers that use too. You may also need to check legal requirements that apply where you operate or where the music is used.
Check Content ID separately
A license alone may not prevent an interruption. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate it. YouTube says licensed third-party music can still be interrupted if the channel has not been added to the relevant rightsholder’s Content ID allowlist. Ask the rights holder whether it can allowlist your channel, and confirm the exact channel identity and permitted uses in writing. See YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions guidance.

- Keep a track-by-track rights record, including the owner, permission, territory, live use, archive use and any allowlisting status.
- Do not treat attribution, a purchase receipt, or a platform subscription as proof that continuous live use and archives are covered.
- If a rights holder or licensing service cannot confirm the intended use and Content ID handling in writing, leave that track out until the issue is resolved.
2. Make sure the channel can livestream
Verify the YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction within the past 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable livestreaming well before the planned launch. YouTube’s setup instructions are in Get started with live streaming and its encoder guidance at Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
3. Prepare a continuous radio-style program
Arrange the Goan ambient tracks into a sequence that can run repeatedly without an abrupt gap or unintended silence at the loop point. Check the full sequence, including the last-to-first transition, and decide what visual will accompany the music. This can be a suitable static or moving visual, provided you have the rights to use it; a radio-style stream does not require a camera feed.

Set up a playback and encoder workflow that can continue unattended only if you have actually tested it under the conditions you expect. YouTube’s guidance supports both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; it does not require dedicated hardware. A software encoder is a lower-commitment starting point if you already have a suitable computer, while hardware is an optional dedicated device rather than a prerequisite. No performance advantage should be assumed without testing a specific setup.
4. Create the YouTube stream and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream, set its title and audience-facing details, and select the visibility you want for testing or launch.
- Copy the server URL and stream key into your encoder. Follow the encoder’s YouTube setup flow. Treat the stream key like a password: it routes your encoder’s feed to your channel, so do not publish it or share it unnecessarily.
- Configure the video and audio output. Use settings supported by both your source program and encoder, and follow YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for the selected resolution and frame rate. Avoid choosing a bitrate your internet connection cannot sustain.
- Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that YouTube receives the intended audio and picture before making the stream public.
Bandwidth and reliability
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom over the total streaming bitrate. That margin is for the stream’s network needs, not a guarantee against outages. Test from the actual connection you plan to use, and avoid competing uploads or other traffic that could consume the available capacity.

For a long-running channel, plan who or what will notice if audio stops, the encoder disconnects or the network fails. YouTube recommends preparing the encoder in advance, previewing the stream, testing backup encoder failover, checking local archive integrity and public accessibility, and monitoring audio and video. If you rely on local recordings as a fallback, check that files are actually being written and remain usable.
5. Test privately before launch
Run the complete program as a private or unlisted test before announcing the channel. Check it on the encoder side and on the viewer-facing YouTube watch page; a healthy local preview does not prove the public page works as intended.

- Listen for level changes, clipped audio, silence, unwanted fades and clicks at transitions.
- Watch the visual for freezes, black frames or unintended content.
- Let the playlist reach its end and confirm that it loops as planned.
- Check the watch page, stream title, visibility and audio on a separate device or network where practical.
- Test your response to an encoder or connection failure, including any backup encoder or local archive process you intend to rely on.
6. Choose the standard encoder route or HLS deliberately
The standard encoder workflow described above is sufficient for the basic setup. HLS is an advanced ingest alternative, not a requirement for a continuous YouTube stream. YouTube’s HLS ingestion guidance specifies higher latency than continuous RTMP delivery and HLS-specific segment and playlist requirements.
For HLS, YouTube specifies TS segments between 1 and 4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and recommends 44.1 kHz stereo audio at 128 Kbps. These values apply to HLS ingest, not as universal settings for every YouTube encoder workflow. YouTube lists OBS among encoders that support HLS.

7. Plan for interruptions and replay limits
Even a correctly configured encoder cannot prevent every network, equipment or platform interruption. Establish a monitoring and recovery routine, and make sure the person responsible knows how to restart or switch the encoder without exposing the stream key. Keep your rights documentation accessible in case a claim needs to be investigated.
YouTube’s encoder setup help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will remain available as a single replay. If preserving the program matters, arrange and test a separate recording and storage plan; do not promise viewers a complete replay based on the automatic archive guidance alone.
