Four Beatles films are planned for theatrical release in April 2028, with each film told from the perspective of a different band member. Harris Dickinson plays John Lennon, Paul Mescal plays Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn plays George Harrison and Barry Keoghan plays Ringo Starr. No specific April release day has been announced.
Who is playing each Beatle?
| Beatle | Actor |
|---|---|
| John Lennon | Harris Dickinson |
| Paul McCartney | Paul Mescal |
| George Harrison | Joseph Quinn |
| Ringo Starr | Barry Keoghan |
Neal Street Productions lists the four leads for the project on its official announcement.
Why are there four Beatles films?
Rather than telling the group’s story in one conventional biopic, director Sam Mendes conceived four theatrical features, each anchored in one member’s point of view. The separate accounts are designed to intersect and tell one story. The official announcements have not supplied individual film titles, plot summaries or a screening order, so details about how the stories will connect remain undisclosed.
What other cast members have been announced?
The Beatles’ official site announced additional casting on February 12, 2026, as it reported that filming in the UK was underway:

Who is making the films?
Sam Mendes is directing all four films. Sony Pictures is financing and distributing them worldwide; Neal Street Productions is producing in association with Apple Corps. The official announcements say Apple Corps and the Beatles granted full life-story and music rights for the scripted project. Sony’s original announcement quotes Mendes describing his aim as “challeng[ing] the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies”; that is his creative ambition, not a promise about the films’ format beyond their planned theatrical release.
The February 2026 production update also named cinematographer Greig Fraser, editor Lee Smith, production designers Stefania Cella, Mark Tildesley and Neal Callow, costume designer Sinéad Kidao, hair and makeup designer Naomi Donne, executive music producer Giles Martin, sound mixer Stuart Wilson, casting director Nina Gold, and executive producer and first assistant director Toby Hefferman.
