A 24/7 stream is an operating workflow—not a guarantee of uninterrupted playback, a complete archive, or monetization.
1. Audit the recordings and permissions
Before uploading or streaming, establish who owns or controls each class recording and what the permissions allow. A recording may involve several separate rights: the teacher’s performance, the institution’s or producer’s recording, lesson slides, images, music, excerpts, and student contributions.
- For each file, record the teacher, institution, recording producer, and known rightsholders.
- List the material included in the recording, including third-party media and student work.
- Keep written permissions or licences with the file. Note their scope, territory, term, platform restrictions, and whether public, continuous streaming is allowed.
- Set aside any recording whose ownership or permission is unclear until you have clarified it.
India’s Copyright Office statute text defines a lecture to include an address, speech, or sermon, and includes communication to the public in a way that can make a work available at individually selected times. Its performer provisions cover a person delivering a lecture and address rights concerning recording and communication of performances. The Act also covers categories such as literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, films, and sound recordings.
Section 52 lists specific exceptions, including certain uses for private or personal use, research, criticism or review, current-event reporting, and reproduction by a teacher or pupil in the course of instruction. Those provisions are not a blanket permission to publish every third-party work in an unrestricted public channel that rebroadcasts classes continuously. Whether an exception applies depends on the facts. Get permission from relevant rightsholders, and seek qualified India-specific advice if the ownership or licence scope is uncertain. This is practical guidance, not a legal determination.

2. Make the channel eligible for live streaming
YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube also states that people must be at least 16 to live stream. Check the current status and instructions in YouTube Studio before launch; eligibility can change.
Give the channel a clear identity as an education service. Explain who produced or authorized the classes, identify the subjects and teachers, and make it easy for viewers to understand whether a lesson is current, archival, or part of a series.
3. Choose how to send the recordings
YouTube supports encoder-based streams using software encoders and professional-grade hardware encoders. Choose a setup that can play your source files and transmit the configured stream for as long as your operating plan requires. No particular brand or model is necessary based on the available platform guidance.

Software encoder on a computer
Use a software encoder if you already have a suitable computer and can keep it, the encoder, and its internet connection running. Confirm that the software can play the recordings in the order you want and send a continuous live feed. The computer and connection become part of your operating dependency: if either stops, the broadcast can stop.
Dedicated hardware encoder
A hardware encoder is another supported route. Check that the device accepts your source files or input workflow and can transmit to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. Compare it with a software setup on source compatibility, continuous operation, monitoring and recovery, operator familiarity, and total cost. The available guidance does not establish a particular model, price, bandwidth requirement, or uptime guarantee.
Output settings: match the source and verify the encoder
Set the output format and quality in the encoder, then check YouTube’s current encoder guidance and the recommendations shown in Live Control Room. Preserve the class recording’s intended picture and sound where your equipment supports it; avoid selecting a higher output quality simply because the setting is available. The cited platform material does not establish a universal bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval for every source and connection, so do not treat one set of numbers as suitable for all channels. Verify the encoder’s actual output in the preview before going public.

4. Create the stream and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Set its title, description, and visibility. Choose latency and DVR options to suit the viewing experience you want.
- Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Follow the labels in the current interfaces; they may change.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Keep it out of public documents and recordings. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Load the class file or playlist in the encoder, arrange the playback order, and confirm that the output is going to the intended stream.
- Start the encoder and wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the picture and sound are correct before making the stream public.
5. Test, launch, and monitor the feed
Run a private or unlisted test before the public launch. Check both the encoder preview and the stream’s watch page: a working local playback window does not by itself confirm that viewers can see the YouTube feed.
- Listen for silence, clipping, uneven volume, and audio that does not match the picture.
- Check that the video is oriented and framed correctly, and that text on slides is legible on a phone as well as a larger screen.
- Open the watch page on mobile and another relevant device. Confirm the intended visibility and that playback begins.
- Monitor audio and video quality continuously. Assign someone to check that the stream remains visible and to restart a failed encoder or investigate a dropped feed.
- Document who checks the channel, how often they check it, and how they will respond to a failure or rights warning.
After the test, schedule or switch to the public stream in Live Control Room. Verify the public watch page again after launch rather than assuming that a successful preview guarantees a successful broadcast.
6. Decide how to handle the 12-hour archive limit
YouTube Help’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A single uninterrupted 24-hour stream does not meet that stated condition, so do not plan on it producing one complete automatically archived video. Treat live delivery and retaining usable lesson recordings as separate requirements: keep your authorized source files, and decide how you will manage any archive you need. Check the current Studio interface and YouTube guidance before relying on archive behavior.

7. Make a continuous channel useful, not just continuous
A loop can keep lessons available, but viewers still need context. Organize the schedule by subject and class, identify teachers and lesson dates, and make the next lesson easy to find. Add original introductions, context, chaptering, or accompanying material where they genuinely help learners. Keep descriptions accurate about what is prerecorded and when a class was recorded.
YouTube’s channel monetization review considers the channel overall. In a policy note dated July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and said content should offer distinct creative, educational, or other value. A loop of near-identical recordings with little distinct value can be a monetization concern. Reused-content review is separate from copyright enforcement: permission to use material does not by itself guarantee monetization acceptance.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, replacement of the live stream with a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Even content you are licensed to use may be interrupted if the relevant rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.

Keep permission records accessible to the people operating the channel. If a warning or interruption occurs, identify the matched material and contact the relevant rightsholder or administrator through the appropriate channel. Do not assume that a licence alone will prevent an automated interruption, or that educational purpose alone clears a claim.
9. Understand what monetization does—and does not—promise
Depending on eligibility and feature availability, live streams may support ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships. YouTube says ads are not guaranteed to serve in every slot. A continuous schedule, viewer traffic, or permission to use the recordings does not guarantee YouTube Partner Program acceptance, ad delivery, or any particular earnings.
