You can keep a Tamil indie music program live on YouTube around the clock with either a computer running OBS or a hosted playout service. In both cases, you need a continuous audio program, a visual output, a stable connection to YouTube, and permission to use every track and visual in the broadcast. The computer-based route gives you direct control but depends on your computer, power and internet staying available; hosted playout moves that work off your premises.
Choose how the stream will stay online
For a continuous program, YouTube’s encoder workflow lets you send a composed audio-and-video stream from OBS or another encoder. The choice is who runs the playout and maintains the connection:

Confirm YouTube live access before preparing the program
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation of live streaming can take up to 24 hours, so check access in YouTube Studio before announcing a launch. YouTube’s encoder option is intended for broadcasts assembled from external audio and video or other production elements.

Clear the music and visual rights
Do not treat “indie,” artist permission, a standard radio licence or a “copyright-free” label as proof that a complete YouTube livestream and its archive are cleared. Rights depend on the actual tracks, recordings, compositions, territories and intended uses. For each item, confirm the permissions cover continuous YouTube broadcast and, if wanted, replay or archiving; keep written records of scope, territory, duration and monetization terms. Check the visual material too.
YouTube for Artists advises coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music in a live stream. That does not establish that a label or distributor controls every right for every track. The exact territorial requirements for a particular Tamil indie catalogue are not established here; check your agreements and seek qualified local advice where needed.
YouTube Help states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A licence alone may not prevent an interruption: ask the relevant rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist when required. If YouTube detects third-party material, it may replace the program with a placeholder, issue a warning, temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream, or impose consequences associated with a strike. An archived broadcast can also receive a Content ID claim after it ends.

Prepare a continuous program with audio and visuals
Organize the playlist
Build a playlist of tracks you have cleared for the intended use. Keep an inventory that connects each recording and composition to its permission and any allowlist confirmation. Decide the order, transitions and what should play if an item is missing or stops. A continuous music radio format needs video as well as audio: prepare suitable visual material for the encoder rather than assuming an audio-only program is enough.

Choose a visual that you have the right to broadcast, such as a permitted station graphic or a prepared visual sequence. Test that the image appears as intended for the length of the program, and that any motion or transitions work alongside the audio. Avoid adding third-party clips or artwork unless those uses are cleared too.
Set up an OBS encoder broadcast
- Verify the channel. In YouTube Studio, confirm that live streaming is available and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder broadcast. Review the broadcast details and visibility before sending viewers to it.
- Copy the connection details. Get the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it in screenshots or reuse a key you suspect has been exposed. If it leaks, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before the next broadcast.
- Connect OBS. In OBS’s streaming settings, select the option to use a custom server, then enter the server URL and stream key from the Live Control Room. OBS labels can vary by version; use the current labels in your installed release.
- Build the scene and playback. Add the prepared visual output and configure a continuous playlist or other reliable playback method for the cleared program. Check that the selected audio source is reaching OBS and that the intended image is visible in its preview.
- Choose sustainable output settings. Follow YouTube’s current encoder recommendations in Studio for the resolution, frame rate, bitrate and keyframe interval you select. Use settings your actual upload connection can sustain consistently; a higher setting is not an improvement if the connection cannot hold it.
- Start privately or unlisted for testing. Start the encoder, then check the Live Control Room for the incoming picture, sound and stream health. Listen and watch the actual YouTube output, not just the OBS preview, before promoting the public broadcast.
- Launch and monitor. Once the test is satisfactory, make the intended broadcast public and monitor both playback and connection health. For a local setup, plan who will respond if playback stops, the internet drops or the computer restarts.
Test reliability before inviting listeners
Run a test long enough to expose problems with playlist continuity, audio levels, image behavior and the connection. Check the stream from a separate device or browser, and confirm that the program remains intelligible and in sync. Test using the same network and output settings you intend to use for the live program. YouTube recommends choosing settings the connection can reliably sustain and checking stream health.

- Confirm each track and visual is in the cleared program inventory.
- Confirm OBS is sending the intended scene and audio source to the correct broadcast.
- Watch Studio’s stream-health indicators while the test is running.
- Decide who checks the stream and what they will do if it stops.
- Keep the stream key private and have a recovery plan if it is exposed.
Decide what happens to archives
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a continuous 24/7 broadcast will be retained as one complete, uninterrupted recording. Decide whether you need replays, and investigate the current Studio workflow for segmentation and archive handling before launch. Remember that an archived stream may receive a post-stream Content ID claim.

Troubleshoot common failures
YouTube live access is unavailable
Check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction is in effect. If this is your first activation, allow up to 24 hours before trying to launch.

The broadcast does not appear in the Live Control Room
Check that OBS is connected to the server URL and stream key for the correct broadcast. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in Studio and update the encoder configuration.
The stream health is poor or the connection drops
Choose a lower output quality or bitrate that your upload connection can sustain, using YouTube’s current encoder guidance in Studio. Test again under the network conditions you expect during the broadcast.
Viewers hear no music or see no image
Check the OBS audio source and level, confirm that the intended visual is in the active scene, and inspect the actual YouTube output. A healthy OBS preview alone does not confirm that viewers are receiving both.

YouTube interrupts the program over music
Review the detected material against your track permissions, then contact the relevant rights owner, label or distributor about the required Content ID allowlist. Do not assume permission to use a track automatically prevents automated matching or an interruption.
The 24/7 stream stops while nobody is watching it
For OBS, check the computer, power, network, playback process and Studio stream health; arrange regular checks and a person responsible for recovery. A local encoder cannot keep sending if its computer or connection is unavailable.
