One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo run Indian music continuously on YouTube, use FFmpeg to send your media to YouTube Live over RTMPS. Shaka Player is not part of that broadcast path: it is an optional player for a separate website where you want visitors to watch a DASH or HLS stream. Before going live, prepare a repeatable playlist, meet YouTube’s live-stream requirements, configure and test the encoder, and confirm that you have the necessary music rights.
How the pieces fit together
The YouTube broadcast path is music files → FFmpeg → YouTube Live. FFmpeg reads your media, encodes it as needed and sends it to the ingest address and stream key supplied by YouTube. Viewers watch the resulting live stream on YouTube.
Shaka Player belongs to a separate path: your hosted DASH or HLS stream → Shaka Player on your website → website visitors. It is a web playback library, not an encoder or a way to send media to YouTube. Shaka documents live DASH and HLS support; you need it only if you are also building your own website playback experience. See the Shaka Player project documentation.
Before you prepare the stream
Check YouTube Live eligibility and activation
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. A first activation of live streaming can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this step until the planned launch. YouTube also states that streamers must be at least 16. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.

Clear the music rights first
Having a copy of a track, permission to upload it, or a license for one use does not by itself establish that a continuous YouTube live broadcast is cleared. Confirm rights for both the underlying compositions and the sound recordings, for the territories you intend to reach and for the planned live-stream use. The correct rights path for Indian music depends on the specific repertoire and rights holders; there is no single blanket clearance established here. Confirm it with the relevant rights holders or qualified counsel.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. Even licensed material may be interrupted unless the rights owner allowlists your channel through Content ID. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams before broadcasting.
Choose a repeatable programme
Make a list of the tracks and their order, then prepare the media files or a playlist in a format FFmpeg can read. Check that the files play through from beginning to end, that audio levels are reasonably consistent, and that any visual track or slate is intentional. Keep records of which recordings and compositions are included so you can verify the applicable permissions. A long playlist may reduce how often a listener hears a repeat, but it does not change the rights needed for the broadcast.

Create the YouTube stream and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and create a live stream. Use YouTube’s encoder workflow in Live Control Room. The exact interface can change; follow the current Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder instructions.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. FFmpeg needs both to reach the right YouTube ingest. Treat the key as a password: do not put it in a public script, repository, screenshot or article. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Prefer the RTMPS address where YouTube provides it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP. Google’s developer guidance describes a valid RTMPS endpoint and port 443; use the endpoint YouTube actually provides rather than guessing or substituting a URL. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance and Google’s RTMPS ingestion guide.
Set up FFmpeg for a continuous broadcast
Start with YouTube’s encoder recommendations
Use YouTube’s current recommendations for the resolution and frame rate you intend to send. The published guidance calls for constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (and no more than four seconds), AAC or MP3 audio, and enough upload capacity for the selected bitrate. These are YouTube recommendations, not proof that a particular computer, command or connection has been tested. Consult Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the current settings and bitrate guidance for your chosen output.
For a continuous music stream, stability is more useful than selecting the largest resolution available. Choose an output your encoder can sustain, and make sure the internet connection has adequate upload capacity for that bitrate. Test with media that has similar audio and motion to the planned programme, then watch stream health in Live Control Room.
Use a command template without exposing credentials
FFmpeg accepts media inputs and writes its output to a URL. The following is a template, not a tested end-to-end command: replace the uppercase placeholders with the settings and ingest details for your own stream. Do not publish a filled-in version containing your key.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.

ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "YOUR_VIDEO_FILE"
-c:v libx264 -b:v YOUR_VIDEO_BITRATE -maxrate YOUR_VIDEO_BITRATE
-bufsize YOUR_VIDEO_BUFFER -r YOUR_FRAME_RATE -g YOUR_KEYFRAME_INTERVAL
-c:a aac -b:a YOUR_AUDIO_BITRATE
-f flv "YOUR_YOUTUBE_RTMPS_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
This example repeats one input file. Choose the bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and other encoder parameters to match YouTube’s current recommendations for your selected resolution. The output URL format and accepted settings depend on the ingest details and encoder workflow supplied for your stream; if YouTube provides a complete URL, use that as directed rather than assuming the key should always be appended in a particular way. FFmpeg’s command-line documentation explains its input, encoding and output options.
Loop a playlist rather than one file
For a programme made from multiple files, one common FFmpeg approach is to create a concat-demuxer list with one file path per entry, in playback order, then use that list as the input and loop it. A list file is plain text, for example:
file 'track-01.mp4'
file 'track-02.mp4'
file 'track-03.mp4'
Use a concat input such as -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt in place of the single-file input in the template. Verify that the media files are compatible for concatenation and that playback crosses the end-to-start boundary cleanly; mismatched codecs, dimensions, frame rates or audio layouts can cause problems. If the playlist changes, review it before restarting the encoder.

Start, preview and then go live
- Start FFmpeg only after checking that the input file or playlist is readable and that the output parameters match YouTube’s published guidance.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, confirm that the incoming preview appears and check the stream-health messages.
- Use the control-room workflow to make the stream public or go live as appropriate for the stream you created. Do not assume that starting FFmpeg alone makes the broadcast public.
- Keep an eye on both FFmpeg’s output and YouTube’s stream health, especially after the first playlist loop. Resolve warnings before relying on the setup for a long schedule.
Where Shaka Player fits if you also have a website
If your goal is only a YouTube channel, stop at the YouTube Live workflow: viewers watch on YouTube and do not need Shaka Player. If you also want playback on your own site, you need a separate hosted DASH or HLS delivery path and a web page that uses Shaka to play its manifest. That adds another service to configure and operate; YouTube’s ingest stream is not automatically a Shaka-compatible website stream.
Shaka’s documentation covers live DASH and HLS playback. Its FAQ notes that live playback can depend on clock synchronization, and encoder drift may need correction at the encoder. That timing concern is separate from sending the RTMPS broadcast to YouTube. See the Shaka Player FAQ.
| Architecture | What viewers use | What you operate |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube-only broadcast | The YouTube live stream | FFmpeg, its media source and connection to YouTube Live |
| Broadcast plus a website player | YouTube, plus a separate player on your site | The YouTube encoder path and an independently hosted DASH or HLS stream, website playback and timing |
Plan for continuity, not an assumed guarantee
A “24/7” stream is an intended schedule, not a guarantee that one encoder process or one live event will run forever without interruption. A self-hosted FFmpeg setup depends on suitable compute, stable internet, monitoring and a way to restart or recover from failures. Decide who will notice a stopped process, how it will be restarted, and how you will check that the YouTube broadcast is receiving media again.

YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume one live event will archive indefinitely or that a single event can serve as an uninterrupted permanent archive. For a long-running channel, review YouTube’s current event and archive behavior as part of your operating plan.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| No incoming preview in Live Control Room | FFmpeg has not started correctly, the input cannot be read, or the endpoint/key is wrong | Review FFmpeg’s error output, confirm the media path, and copy the current server URL and key from YouTube Studio. Keep the key private. |
| Unstable stream health or dropped frames | Upload capacity may not sustain the selected bitrate, or the encoder may not keep up | Compare the selected bitrate with the actual upload capacity and reduce output demands if needed. Test and monitor using YouTube’s stream-health view. |
| Audio or video will not encode as expected | The selected settings may not suit the input or YouTube recommendations | Check the current YouTube encoder guidance for codec, bitrate, resolution, frame rate and keyframe interval; confirm that FFmpeg can decode the source files. |
| The stream stops or is replaced during playback | A third-party-content match or another live-stream restriction may apply | Check YouTube’s notification and copyright guidance, then resolve rights and any applicable Content ID allowlisting with the relevant rights holders. |
| A multi-file playlist breaks at a track change | Files may have incompatible media characteristics or a malformed concat list | Check paths and list syntax, compare file properties, and test the transition before restarting the long-running stream. |
| Website playback is out of sync or stalls | The separate live DASH/HLS path may have a timing or clock-synchronization issue | Check the manifest and playback service as well as Shaka’s FAQ; encoder drift may require correction at the encoder. |
