In OBS Studio, add two separate Text sources—one for your church name and one for the Bible verse—then place them above the sermon video in the Sources list and position them in the preview. For Hindi, choose a font with Devanagari coverage and check the actual stream output for correct letter shaping and legibility. You can type a verse directly or load it from a text file when it needs to change between services.
Add the church name and verse as OBS text sources
- Open the sermon scene in OBS Studio, or create a dedicated scene for the service.
- In the Sources dock, click + and choose Text. Name the source “Church name,” choose a font and color, and enter the church’s exact name.
- Click + again and add a second Text source named “Bible verse.” Enter the verse reference and the text of the passage. For content you will update between services, enable Read from file and select a text file containing the current verse.
- In the Sources list, move each text source above the camera or video source it should cover. Sources higher in the list are composited on top of sources below them.
- Select each text source and position or resize it in the preview. Check the scene at the output size you use for the stream, not only while the OBS window is enlarged.
OBS describes its text sources as a way to “add simple text renders to your stream or recording layout.” See the OBS Text Sources guide and Sources guide for the source controls and ordering behavior.
Make sure Hindi text renders correctly
Choose and verify a Devanagari font
Use a font that includes Devanagari glyphs. Google Fonts metadata lists Noto Sans Devanagari UI with a Devanagari subset and Hindi as a supported language, making it a reasonable option to test. That metadata does not confirm that the font is installed on your computer or guarantee how it will render in your particular OBS build. If it is missing from the font picker, make it available to your operating system and reopen OBS.
Preview the exact Hindi passage in the sermon scene and, if possible, inspect a short recording or stream output. Check conjuncts, matras, punctuation, line breaks, size, and contrast. A font can appear in the picker yet still need an output check for the passage and layout you plan to use. See Google Fonts’ Noto Sans Devanagari UI information.

Keep the overlays readable
Place the church name in a stable corner or narrow lower-third area, and give the verse its own clear space. Check the text against changing camera imagery; a contrasting text color or restrained backing panel can help. These are layout choices, not required OBS settings. Keep both text sources above the video in the Sources list so they remain visible.
Choose a workflow for changing verses

A local text file avoids reliance on an online page, while a URL-based overlay depends on the page being available; that is an operational distinction, not a measured reliability comparison.

Optional Bible plugin
The OBS forum resource for the Firstfruits Studio Bible Plugin describes a browser-source link and calls it a Bible solution designed for OBS. Treat it as an optional route, not a requirement. Confirm that it supports the Hindi translation you intend to display, is maintained for your setup, and permits the planned public use of that text.
Check permission to display the Hindi translation
Permission depends on the specific translation. Ask the church or rights holder which Hindi version to use, then check its full terms for public livestream display, attribution requirements, and any restrictions.

Troubleshoot common overlay problems
- The text is hidden behind the camera: Move its source higher in the Sources list, above the camera or video source.
- The font is missing: Make a Devanagari-capable font available to the operating system, then reopen OBS and check the font picker again.
- Hindi characters look wrong or separate: Test the exact passage in the scene and in a recording or stream output. Check conjuncts, matras, punctuation, and line breaks; font metadata alone cannot confirm rendering in your environment.
- A file-based verse does not update as expected: Confirm the Text source is set to Read from file and points to the file you are editing. Check that the file remains available to the OBS computer.
- A Browser Source overlay is blank: Check whether its local file or URL loads and whether its viewport dimensions suit the overlay. A URL-based page also depends on that page being reachable.
- The verse is difficult to read over the picture: Reposition it over a less busy area, adjust its size or color, or use a restrained backing panel; then preview the result at stream output size.
- You are unsure whether a passage may be shown publicly: Check the exact translation’s license or contact its rights holder before streaming it.
