Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Short answer: Amazon First Reads reportedly offered eligible U.S. Prime members up to two selected Kindle e-books during a March 2026 promotion. That March selection window has ended, so it cannot be claimed now. For any current month, sign in to the Prime account that will receive the books, open Amazon First Reads, and continue only when the Kindle edition shows a final price of $0.00.
Is the March 2026 offer still available?
No. March 2026 is over as of August 18, 2026. The phrase “this March” is therefore misleading unless it refers to a future, explicitly dated promotion. The reported offer should be treated as a March 2026 promotion archive, not a live deal.
A published report described a special allowance of up to two books from that month’s First Reads list, but it was published after March and does not provide authoritative Amazon confirmation. Its title list, publication dates and displayed prices contain inconsistencies. Read the report only as background: the March offer article. For a live selection, use Amazon’s own First Reads page.
What Amazon First Reads is—and is not
First Reads is a rotating, curated selection of Kindle books offered to eligible Prime accounts. You choose from the titles displayed for your account; you do not receive two arbitrary books from the entire Kindle Store.

| Program | How access works | What happens to a title |
|---|---|---|
| First Reads | Choose from a monthly, account-specific selection; a special promotion may allow two selections. | Claim through a Kindle purchase flow at the promotional price shown. |
| Prime Reading | Read titles from a separate catalog while eligible Prime benefits remain active. | Access is tied to the benefit and catalog, not necessarily a permanent purchase. |
| Kindle Unlimited | Borrow from a subscription catalog. | Borrowed books are not the same as purchased or claimed First Reads books. |
| Free Kindle Store promotion | An individual book may temporarily be priced at $0.00, sometimes without Prime. | Availability and price depend on that separate promotion. |
Who can claim a First Reads selection?
- An active Prime membership recognized by the Amazon marketplace you are using.
- The Amazon account that visibly displays the First Reads selection and eligibility.
- An eligible Kindle edition, rather than a paperback, hardcover, audiobook, bundle or other format.
- A selection still within its monthly claim period and available in your country.
Prime Student, trial memberships and Household arrangements may not receive identical treatment. Do not rely on a general eligibility claim: the account-level page and checkout price are decisive. The instructions here are U.S.-specific; catalogs, currencies, licensing and eligibility can differ on other Amazon marketplaces.
How to redeem a current First Reads book
- Sign in to the Amazon account with the Prime membership you intend to use.
- Open https://www.amazon.com/firstreads.
- Choose the current monthly First Reads list.
- Open a title’s product page from that list.
- Select Kindle Edition manually.
- Verify that the promotional price is $0.00 before placing the order.
- Complete the free purchase or claim flow. Opening a sample is not enough.
- Return to First Reads and repeat the process for a second title only if the page grants two selections.
- Check your Kindle library or digital orders to confirm each claim.
Amazon’s button labels can vary by marketplace, app and account. Never complete checkout if the final screen shows a charge. A normal Kindle Store listing may show a price even when an account-specific First Reads offer is available.

How to choose between the eligible books
The list is limited to the titles shown on your First Reads page. Before claiming, compare:
- Genre, tone and sample pages.
- Whether the book is standalone or part of a series.
- Estimated reading time or page count.
- Publication timing and whether it is an early-release title.
- Author familiarity and the amount of available reader feedback.
- Whether later books are available through your library, normal Kindle purchase or another service.
New or early-access titles may have fewer reviews. “Free” has little value if the premise does not suit you, and a Prime subscription should not be purchased solely for two inexpensive e-books unless its other benefits justify the cost.

- Our fastest Kindle Paperwhite ever – The next-generation 7“ Paperwhite display has a higher contrast ratio and 25% faster page turns.
- Upgrade your reading experience – The Signature Edition features an auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging, and 32 GB storage.
- Ready for travel – The ultra-thin design has a larger glare-free screen so pages stay sharp no matter where you are.
- Escape into your books – Your Kindle doesn’t have social media, notifications, or other distracting apps.
- Adapts to your surroundings – The auto-adjusting front light lets you read in the brightest sunlight or late into the night.
Where you can read a claimed book
A dedicated Kindle reader is not required. Once attached to the Amazon account, a title can generally be read using a Kindle e-reader, the Kindle app on a compatible phone or tablet, a Fire tablet, or Kindle for Web. Amazon’s supported devices and app behavior can change; see its current Kindle information at Amazon Kindle reading products and apps.
The books are associated with the Amazon account, not with one physical Kindle. If an early-release title has a later publication date, it may not be downloadable immediately; check the specific listing for its delivery timing.
Rank #4
- Light and compact - With adjustable brightness, high contrast ratio, and fast page turns.
- Effortless reading in any light - Read comfortably with a 6“ glare-free display, adjustable front light—now 25% brighter at max setting—and dark mode.
- Escape into your books - Tune out messages, emails, and social media with a distraction-free reading experience.
- Read for a while - Get up to 6 weeks of battery life on a single charge.
- Take your library with you - 16 GB storage holds thousands of books.
What happens after the monthly deadline?
You must complete the claim before that month’s deadline. Finishing the book later is normally a separate matter. Do not assume an unused selection rolls over, and do not confuse a completed First Reads claim with a temporary Kindle Unlimited borrow.
Access after Prime cancellation depends on the offer’s terms and Amazon’s digital-content policies. Treat a successful claim as an account-linked promotional purchase, but review the specific terms rather than relying on an unconditional “keep it forever” promise.

If the book does not show as free
- Wrong account: Sign out and back in to the account whose Prime status should qualify.
- Wrong page: Reopen the title from the official First Reads page instead of a general search result.
- Wrong format: Select Kindle Edition, not print, audio or a bundle.
- Expired selection: The monthly window may have closed or the title may have been removed.
- Marketplace or country mismatch: Check the Amazon domain, delivery country and currency.
- Allowance already used: The account may have claimed its permitted title or titles for that month.
- Changed promotion: Amazon may have altered eligibility or pricing.
Check the final checkout price and stop if it is not $0.00. If the First Reads page says you qualify but Amazon attempts to charge you, do not place the order; contact Amazon customer service.
If the book is missing from your library
- Confirm that the free order completed rather than creating only a sample.
- Open the Kindle library while signed into the same Amazon account.
- Check digital orders and content-management settings.
- Refresh or sync the Kindle app or device.
- Review the listing for a later release date if it was an early-access title.
What non-Prime readers should expect
Non-Prime readers should not be promised two First Reads books. They may encounter an ordinary Kindle discount or a separate $0.00 Kindle promotion, but those are different offers with different eligibility rules. Public-library e-book borrowing can be a better fit for broad access without Prime, subject to local library licensing.
Before claiming any future March promotion
- Use an exact year—March 2026 is historical; March 2027 would be a future promotion.
- Verify the live list and account eligibility at Amazon First Reads.
- Confirm the Kindle edition and a final price of $0.00.
- Check the monthly deadline and whether the page permits one or two selections.
- Save the order confirmation and verify both books in your library.
The Bottom Line
The reported two-book March 2026 First Reads promotion is no longer claimable. For any replacement offer, trust only the live Amazon First Reads page, your account’s eligibility and a $0.00 Kindle checkout price.
