A music video is suitable for a 24/7 YouTube stream only when you have permission for every relevant part of that specific video and recording, for the intended territories and uses. Being on YouTube, purchased, credited, or playable in India does not establish that permission. Check live use, continuous or repeated use, monetization if intended, the saved replay, and Content ID handling separately before you broadcast.
What must be cleared before a stream goes live
YouTube places responsibility on the stream operator to have the rights needed for the live content on Google services worldwide. Its livestream terms specifically include music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. A license for one use, platform, territory, or version of a song does not automatically cover a continuous YouTube livestream or its archive.
A music video can contain several separately protected elements. You may need permission covering the sound recording, the musical work and lyrics, and the video’s footage, performances, artwork, or other third-party material. Establish who controls each right and whether that party can authorize the intended use. A license from one owner does not necessarily clear the others.
There are two different checks: legal permission and YouTube’s automated enforcement. A license does not guarantee that Content ID will leave the stream uninterrupted. If a rightsholder has licensed the material, ask it to allowlist your channel where applicable; YouTube says a stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted.

Clear each video, not just each song title
1. Make a track-and-video inventory
For every item planned for the stream, record the video title, song title, performers, label, uploader, URL, and the exact recording or version. Note any included footage, logos, performances, samples, or other third-party material. Two videos with the same song title may use different recordings or have different rights arrangements.
2. Identify the relevant owners and administrators
Find out who controls the sound recording and who controls or administers the underlying musical work and lyrics. Also consider rights in the visual material. In India, IPRS describes licensing musical and associated literary works under its control; PPL India describes licensing member sound recordings. Those roles are a starting point for identifying which rights to ask about, not proof that either organization controls a particular track or can grant worldwide online livestream permission. Confirm the specific repertoire and authority for each video.
3. Get written permission with a precise scope
Ask an authorized rights holder or administrator to identify the specific recording and video, your YouTube channel, and the permitted uses. The permission should explicitly cover YouTube livestreaming, continuous or repeated 24/7 use, the territories in which the stream may be available, the license term, and monetization if you intend to monetize. Ask separately whether it covers saving and replaying the archived stream.

For a multi-rights video, obtain confirmation for each relevant layer rather than assuming one permission covers the entire package. YouTube’s terms make worldwide rights the operator’s responsibility, so a license limited to India or another named territory may not be enough for a stream available worldwide.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems4. Arrange Content ID allowlisting
If the material is licensed and a third-party rightsholder uses Content ID, ask that owner to allowlist your YouTube channel. Keep the owner’s confirmation alongside the license. Allowlisting addresses automated matching; it does not replace the underlying permission, and a license by itself does not assure that a stream will not be flagged.
5. Check live use, replay, and monetization as separate terms
Confirm that permission covers the live transmission and any archived replay. YouTube says claims on an archived livestream may be made after the stream ends when the operator chooses to archive it. Verify monetization rights and any revenue or territory restrictions rather than inferring them from permission to play the music live.

Creator Music is not a substitute for this clearance: YouTube’s usage guidance limits its track licenses and revenue-sharing options to long-form videos, not livestreams.
6. Keep records and plan for a match
Retain the licenses, track list, channel details, territory and term limits, rightsholder contacts, monetization terms, archive permissions, and allowlist confirmations. Monitor YouTube Studio while the stream runs. If YouTube warns of a match, follow the notice and be prepared to stop or replace the affected material; continued third-party content can cause a stream to be interrupted or terminated.

- Do you control or administer the rights needed for this specific recording, composition and lyrics, and included visual material? If not, which other parties must authorize it?
- Does the permission cover a continuous, repeated 24/7 livestream on the named YouTube channel, worldwide or in which named territories, and for what term?
- Does it permit monetization, and does it cover YouTube’s saved livestream archive and later replay?
- Will you allowlist the channel in Content ID for this material, and whom should we contact if a match interrupts the stream?
Do not treat silence, a general catalog page, a distributor listing, or a statement that a track is “free” as confirmation of these terms.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why an Indian music video can involve multiple rights
YouTube’s explanation of music rights distinguishes master-use rights in the sound recording from public-performance rights in the underlying musical work. IPRS and PPL India describe different areas of licensing within their respective repertoires. Their general descriptions do not establish that they control all Indian music, all elements of a music video, or worldwide online livestream rights for a specific title.
The Government of India’s copyright overview distinguishes musical works, sound recordings, and cinematograph films and describes rights that include communication to the public. That distinction is useful when checking a video with both audio and visuals, but the applicable rights and any exceptions depend on the work, ownership, contracts, territory, and use. This is not a track-specific legal determination: only the relevant rights holders and license documents can establish clearance for an individual video.

What does not count as clearance
- The video is already on YouTube: availability on the platform does not grant your channel permission to rebroadcast it continuously.
- You bought or downloaded the song: an off-platform purchase does not by itself grant livestream, archive, or monetization rights.
- You give credit: attribution in the description does not establish permission or prevent a Content ID match.
- The track is called “free” or royalty-free: read the actual license for platform, format, territory, duration, repeated use, archive, and monetization limits.
- You have permission from one party: the permission may not include the sound recording, composition, lyrics, or visual rights controlled by others.
- You have a Creator Music license: YouTube’s stated Creator Music terms do not cover livestream use.
If a video cannot be cleared, choose another source
Do not put an uncertain track into a 24/7 stream and rely on a later dispute to establish permission. Consider original music, YouTube’s Audio Library, or a third-party source only after checking the license that applies to the particular track and use. Confirm the same practical points: the relevant audio and visual rights, channel and platform, territory, live and repeated use, term, archive, monetization, and Content ID handling. YouTube recommends the Audio Library, original music, and third-party sources subject to their applicable licenses; no “free” label or attribution alone answers the rights question.
Or let it run in the cloud
Once the video is cleared, StreamNeo can keep an uploaded video or playlist looping on YouTube from the cloud. The steps are: upload the cleared recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed, and it does not grant music or video rights, so complete the clearance checks above first.
- Nothing has to stay powered on at home; the stream runs in the cloud.
- Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required.
