To add a moving background to an Indian music live stream, add a local video to OBS Studio as a Media Source and turn on Loop. For several clips, use a VLC Video source with a playlist and enable Loop Playlist. Keep the visual source behind your performer and lyrics, and use only audio and visuals you have permission to stream.
Choose the kind of background you need
- One continuous motion visual: Use an OBS Media Source with a single local video file.
- A sequence of different clips: Use an OBS VLC Video source and playlist. Keep shuffle off when the order matters.
- Changing still images: OBS includes an Image Slideshow source. It is suited to rotating photographs or artwork rather than continuous motion; check current OBS documentation for the available timing and transition controls.
- A browser-based studio: StreamYard documents uploaded video backgrounds that loop automatically without audio. Custom uploads are described as a paid feature; check its current plan terms before relying on it.
Loop one video in OBS Studio
- Add a Media Source: In the OBS scene where the stream will run, use the Sources panel’s add control and choose Media Source.
- Choose the file: In the source properties, select the local video file you want as the backdrop.
- Enable Loop: Turn on the Loop option in the Media Source properties so playback repeats when it reaches the end. The OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation describes the source and its playback options.
- Place and size the visual: Put the Media Source below the camera, lyrics, or other foreground elements in the Sources list. Resize and crop it in the preview so the important parts of the image remain visible. If you use lyrics or titles, check that they remain readable against the moving background.
- Check the scene before going live: Make a short recording or inspect the platform preview. Confirm the visual repeats cleanly, the crop is right, and only the intended audio sources are audible.
Loop a playlist of video clips in OBS
- Install VLC: OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC as well.
- Add a VLC Video source: In the scene’s Sources panel, add VLC Video and open its properties.
- Build the playlist: Add the local video files in the order you want them to appear.
- Set continuity: Enable Loop Playlist. Leave shuffle off if the sequence has a deliberate order, such as an opening visual followed by performance backdrops.
- Arrange and preview: Place the source behind your foreground elements, then preview the playlist through a full cycle if practical. Look for abrupt visual changes or gaps at clip boundaries.
The OBS Project notes that a VLC source can hold a playlist, unlike a single Media Source. See its Media Sources documentation for the source requirements and options.
Use a looping background in StreamYard
- Add the video to the studio background controls: StreamYard’s help page describes adding an uploaded video background through the studio’s Brand/Media assets background controls.
- Keep music on the stream’s audio path: The uploaded video background loops without audio, so it will not provide the music. Bring your performance audio into the studio separately.
- Confirm access and preview: Custom video uploads are described as available to paid customers. Check the current plan terms and preview the background with your audio before the broadcast.

Keep the picture and performance clear
- Keep the performer, lyrics, and any important titles visually distinct from the moving backdrop.
- Choose visuals whose subject and contrast do not compete with faces or text.
- Check that a background video is not unintentionally contributing audio. In StreamYard, the documented uploaded background loops without audio; with local OBS sources, check the scene’s audio sources in a recording or preview.
- For several clips, review how each clip begins and ends. A playlist loop can be continuous in playback while still having visible cuts between items.
- Do not assume a workflow will perform the same on every computer or connection. Preview your own scene before an event.
Clear rights for both music and visuals
YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can lead to a placeholder image, interruption, or termination. Read YouTube Help’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Confirm that you have permission to stream both the audio and every visual element, including recordings, covers, devotional performances, photographs, animations, and stock media. Giving credit does not by itself establish permission. YouTube also notes that even licensed material may trigger an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID; ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel where applicable. These platform points do not determine whether a particular use is lawful under Indian copyright law or cleared in every territory.
If the background does not behave as expected
- A single video stops at the end: Open the Media Source properties and check that Loop is enabled.
- A playlist stops after one pass: Check Loop Playlist in the VLC Video source properties.
- The VLC Video source is unavailable or does not work: Install VLC, then verify its architecture matches OBS; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- The background covers the performer or lyrics: Reorder the sources so the video is behind foreground elements, then adjust its position or crop in the preview.
- The background video adds unwanted sound: Check the audio sources in the scene and make a short recording. StreamYard’s documented uploaded video background loops without audio; the performance audio needs a separate path.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the live picture: Review YouTube’s copyright notice and resolve any rights or Content ID allowlisting issue with the relevant rights holder.
