In PRISM Live Studio for desktop, add music through Sources > + > Music Playlist, build the playlist, and confirm it before going live. Use music whose license covers your YouTube live stream and any recording, and check audio monitoring to prevent an echo loop. A playlist does not make a stream unattended or guarantee that YouTube will save a complete 24-hour archive.
Add a music playlist in PRISM Live Studio desktop
These steps apply to PRISM Live Studio on Windows and Mac. PRISM’s desktop guide calls the source “Music Playlist”; the mobile app uses a different workflow. PRISM’s Music Playlist guide
- Open Sources and click the + button.
- Choose Music Playlist and confirm to add the source.
- Open Add and Edit, or select the Music icon in the sidebar, to manage tracks.
- Choose the source of your music. For PRISM catalog tracks, select a genre, preview a track with the headphone icon, choose a duration option if one is offered, and click + to add it. To use files on your computer, select the local music option and add the files you intend to play.
- Drag tracks into the order you want, then click OK.
- In the source properties, choose whether to show track title and artist information on screen. Hiding this display does not stop playback.
Before starting the broadcast, confirm that the playlist source is active and that its audio is included in your stream mix. PRISM describes this source as a way to add background music to a live stream.
Choose music that is permitted for your stream
Adding a track in PRISM does not itself establish that you have the rights to use it on YouTube. The relevant question is whether the rights cover your intended use: a live broadcast, and, if applicable, an archived recording.

YouTube identifies public-domain music and music used with the copyright owner’s permission as copyright-safe options. It recommends the YouTube Audio Library and also mentions Creator Music in certain regions, along with third-party royalty-free or paid libraries; check each track’s permitted uses. YouTube cautions that a track labeled “free” can still receive a Content ID claim. “Royalty-free” or an attribution request by itself does not prove that a track is cleared for a continuous live stream and its archive. Prevent music echo and monitoring loops
PRISM warns that setting the audio monitoring device to Default Device can make music loop infinitely on the broadcast viewing screen. Choose the remedy that fits whether you need to hear the music while streaming:

Use the audio mixer to adjust or mute individual sources. PRISM’s FAQ gives visual level guidance: keep music or game audio in the green zone, the microphone in the yellow zone, and transmitted sound out of the red. What “24/7” means for a YouTube live stream
A continuous live feed is not the same as a complete, reliably saved 24-hour video. YouTube Help says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Plan your archive and rewind needs around those limits; do not assume one uninterrupted 24-hour stream will become one complete, rewindable video. YouTube archive guidance; YouTube DVR guidance

Keep the stream running: playlist setup is only one part
The Music Playlist source plays music; it does not by itself keep a broadcast unattended or protect it from power, computer, network, or platform interruptions. PRISM’s playlist documentation does not establish a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 operation. For a desktop setup, the computer and connection still need to remain available for the broadcast, and you should plan how you will respond if the stream stops.
