For a horizontal YouTube livestream, put affiliate URLs in the live chat and your channel description; YouTube lists these placements as clickable. For a vertical live feed viewed in the YouTube mobile app, URLs are not clickable. Before sharing links, enable access to advanced features, check that each destination complies with YouTube’s external-links policy, and disclose the affiliate relationship clearly to viewers in India.
Where to put affiliate links on a livestream
Live chat
Post relevant product links in the live chat during a horizontal stream. YouTube lists URLs in horizontal live chat as clickable, subject to the channel having access to advanced features. Do not assume a chat message will stay visible throughout a 24/7 broadcast: visibility depends on the channel’s interface and stream setup, and a link may move out of view as chat continues.
Channel description
Add useful links and an affiliate disclosure to the channel description as a place viewers can consult beyond a particular chat moment. YouTube lists links in channel descriptions as clickable for horizontal live streams, but not when a vertical live feed is viewed in the mobile app. Keep the description accurate and make the disclosure easy to notice near the links.
Check link access and destinations

Use the channel description and, for a horizontal stream, relevant live-chat messages for external URLs. Do not promise that a link is clickable in a vertical mobile live feed.

Check every destination against YouTube’s external-links policy. YouTube says affiliate content does not itself violate its Terms of Use, but prohibited or harmful destinations remain disallowed, and excessive affiliate posting in dedicated accounts may violate spam policy. Disclose affiliate relationships to Indian viewers
Make it clear when the channel may earn a commission if viewers purchase through a link. Put an understandable notice close to the links, using English or the language of the advertisement in a way the audience understands. For Amazon.in Associates, Amazon requires clear and conspicuous disclosure near affiliate links or product reviews, as well as its required Associate identification statement on the applicable site or associated social-media account. Check the current terms and required wording in Amazon.in Associates Central.
Say it during the livestream and retain it in the replay
ASCI’s advertising code says livestream disclosures should be announced at the beginning and end of the broadcast. A practical announcement is that some links are affiliate links and the channel may earn a commission if viewers buy through them. If the stream remains available as a replay, include an appropriate disclosure in its description or caption as well. The exact implementation should fit the channel and audience; the point is to make the relationship understandable before, during, and after viewing.

For an always-on stream, plan how the disclosure will be presented to viewers arriving at different times; an announcement made only once may not reach someone who joins later. Keep the link-adjacent notice visible in the channel description or other relevant text too. ASCI lists “Affiliate” as a permitted disclosure label and says the label should be in a language the average consumer understands. Use YouTube’s paid-promotion setting when applicable
YouTube separately requires creators to use the paid-promotion setting when a video features branded content, sponsorships, endorsements, or other commercial relationships. The platform says the label appears at the beginning of the video, and creators remain responsible for applicable legal obligations. ASCI also names YouTube’s “Includes Paid Promotion” label among permitted disclosure labels. A platform declaration, spoken affiliate disclosure, and notice near links are complementary measures; do not assume that one automatically replaces the others. Check YouTube’s branded-content restrictions and disclosure labels and assess how the particular relationship fits its rules.

YouTube’s Shopping affiliate program overview lists India among supported geographies, subject to eligibility. It says creators must be in the YouTube Partner Program, meet the subscriber threshold, and satisfy other restrictions. Do not assume a particular channel qualifies or that a desired product can be tagged; verify both in Studio and consult the YouTube Shopping affiliate program overview.
Amazon.in Associates is one possible external-link route, but participation, account standing, product availability, and commission terms depend on the creator’s account. Check those details directly in Associates Central rather than assuming a product or rate is available.
