Add a now-playing ticker by placing a song-information overlay in the scene that produces your live video. The ticker is part of the picture sent to YouTube; changing the live stream’s title or description alone will not draw changing song text on screen.
What the ticker needs to show
A ticker works only when its song labels match the audio actually playing. First identify whether your Hindi music is coming from a YouTube playlist, a long-form video with chapters, or another playback source. Then choose a metadata method that can supply the right title and artist as tracks change.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API documents broadcast metadata and management, not automatic recognition of the music in a video or a feature that paints that information into the outgoing picture. A broadcast title or description can identify the stream or provide playlist information, but it is not the on-screen ticker. See the YouTube Live Streaming API broadcast documentation and YouTube Live Streaming API overview.
Recommended route: a now-playing overlay in OBS
An OBS Project forum listing describes the Music on stream Chrome extension as supporting YouTube and YouTube Music. The listing says it can take track-title information from YouTube chapters or a playlist in the video description; it also describes hiding the overlay when music is paused and scrolling long titles. The listing records a first release on April 12, 2024, and a last update on September 18, 2025. Those details do not establish that every playback setup or current OBS/browser combination will work, so follow the extension’s current linked setup guide and verify it with your own source before relying on it continuously.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Choose and maintain the metadata source. If playback comes from a YouTube video with chapters, make sure its chapter titles and times match the actual track changes. If it comes from a playlist represented in the video description, keep that list current with the running order. The extension listing identifies these as input options; it does not establish that it can infer tracks from arbitrary audio.
- Install and configure the overlay using its current guide. Follow the instructions linked from the extension listing for the version you install. Add the resulting overlay to the OBS scene that produces the YouTube stream, using the browser or extension-provided layer as its guide specifies. The forum listing confirms an overlay resource, but does not itself document every installation step or control.
- Place and style the ticker for Hindi titles. Check that Devanagari characters render correctly in the chosen font, that the text contrasts with the video behind it, and that it does not cover important documentary or music visuals. Preview long track and artist names at the intended size and decide what viewers should see between tracks.
- Test the real playback path before going live. Confirm that the displayed title and artist are correct; check track changes, pauses or empty states, long Hindi titles, and behavior after restarting the source or browser. These are checks to perform, not verified results for the extension.
- Keep the labels synchronized. If the running order changes, update the chapter markers or description playlist used as input. Do not describe the ticker as automatic audio recognition unless the selected setup explicitly supports that for your source and your own tests confirm it.
Other ways to supply the ticker text
| Approach | What it provides | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Music on stream overlay | A current-song overlay; the OBS forum listing says it supports YouTube and YouTube Music and can use YouTube chapters or a description playlist. | Confirm compatibility and that its metadata input matches your exact playback path. OBS Project forum listing. |
| Custom browser overlay and metadata source | Flexible rendering when you control the playlist and can provide reliable track metadata. | Requires implementation and data maintenance. The cited official APIs do not establish automatic identification of every track playing in a YouTube video. Follow applicable API and platform policies. |
| YouTube live title or description | Broadcast metadata that can identify the stream or tell viewers about its playlist. | Does not itself draw a changing ticker into the video image. YouTube Live Streaming API broadcast documentation. |
When choosing a setup, check whether it supports your audio player, whether metadata is automatic or manually maintained, how it renders long Devanagari titles, how it behaves during a continuous broadcast, and whether its data source and use comply with platform rules. No physical accessory is necessary to add a software ticker.
Why Spotify’s current-track API is not a shortcut
Spotify’s Web API can provide playback metadata, but Spotify’s policy says its platform cannot be used for non-interactive broadcasting and that sound recordings may not be synchronized with visual media. A continuous music broadcast with a visual ticker is not an appropriate use of that endpoint; do not build this workflow around Spotify playback data. See Spotify’s current-track endpoint and its platform policy.

Troubleshoot mismatched or missing titles
- The ticker is blank: Check that the overlay is enabled and visible in the live scene, then verify that its configured metadata source is populated and accessible.
- The wrong song appears: Compare the actual playback order with the chapter markers or description playlist. Correct stale labels and timing rather than assuming the overlay has recognized the audio.
- Titles fail at track changes: Test transitions with the exact playback source and inspect how its metadata is represented. Confirm that the metadata entries change in step with the music.
- Hindi text appears as boxes or is clipped: Try a font with Devanagari support, increase the text area, and preview the longest title. Confirm the result in the outgoing scene, not only in the overlay editor.
- The overlay disappears after a restart: Check that the source and overlay are restored in the scene and repeat the restart test before leaving the stream unattended. The forum listing does not establish recovery behavior for every setup.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube 24/7 stream built from uploaded videos, StreamNeo runs the playback from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; it loops uploaded videos, not a camera feed. Your ticker still needs a correctly configured overlay and song metadata—the cloud service does not remove that requirement.
Every slot streams the uploaded quality as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers. StreamNeo includes 24/7 looping and playlists, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
