My5 is now generally branded as 5. The current official activation page is activate.channel5.com, according to Channel 5’s help centre. Use it to link the 5 app on a smart TV or streaming device by entering the six-digit code shown on your television.
Do not use unofficial “My5 activation” pages that request payment or personal details. The activation service is free; the only charge you may need to consider is for internet access or compatible hardware.
Quick answer: the official My5 activation link
Open https://activate.channel5.com/ on a computer, tablet or phone. Sign in to your existing 5 account, or choose Register. Then open the 5 app on your TV or streaming device, select the sign-in option and enter the new six-digit code displayed on the television.

Why the app says “5” instead of “My5”
Many viewers still search for My5, My5 TV or Channel 5 activation. Current Channel 5 support materials generally use the name 5. These names can therefore appear to describe different services even when they refer to the same Channel 5 streaming ecosystem.
If your television shows the 5 logo or calls the app “5,” you are normally in the correct app. The important check is the activation website’s domain, not whether an older guide uses the My5 name.

- A supported smart TV, set-top box or streaming device with an internet connection.
- The 5 app installed and open on that device.
- A free 5 account, or an email address with which to register.
- A separate phone, tablet or computer for entering the TV code.
The television generates the activation code. The phone or computer is the second device used to enter it. A PC does not normally need a TV-style activation code when you are watching directly through a browser.
How to activate 5 on a smart TV or streaming device
- Install or open the 5 app on your television, media player or streaming device.
- Select Sign in, Log in or the equivalent option.
- Leave the activation screen open. The app should display a new six-digit code.
- On a separate phone, tablet or computer, open https://activate.channel5.com/.
- Sign in to your existing 5 account, or select Register to create one.
- Enter the six-digit code shown on the TV into the six boxes on the activation page.
- Submit the code promptly and wait for the TV app to refresh.
Channel 5 advises entering the code as soon as possible. If it expires or is rejected, generate a fresh code rather than repeatedly retrying an old one.

How to enter the code from a PC
A computer can activate the TV app, but the computer itself is usually accessed differently:
- Open a current browser and go to activate.channel5.com.
- Sign in or register for a 5 account.
- Enter the code currently displayed by the TV app.
- Wait for the television to confirm the sign-in.
If you simply want to watch 5 on the computer, visit www.channel5.com, sign in or register, and watch through the website. There is normally no reason to pair a PC with a six-digit TV code.
How to activate 5 from an iPhone or Android phone
Open https://activate.channel5.com/ in your phone’s browser, sign in and enter the code shown on the TV. The phone does not need a separate activation code when you are watching through the mobile app or mobile website; the code links the television or streaming device.
Some TVs display a QR code. You can scan it with the built-in camera or QR reader on iOS and Android, with Google Lens enabled where required. Before signing in, check that scanning opens the official activate.channel5.com domain. Do not download an unfamiliar QR-reader app merely to activate 5.

Is a 5 account or payment required?
The official activation flow offers two choices: sign in to an existing 5 account or select Register. Channel 5 states that 5 is free and has no subscription fee. A website demanding an activation fee, registration payment or paid QR-scanning app is not part of the normal official process.
This does not mean that internet service, a compatible television or optional streaming hardware costs nothing. It means that Channel 5 does not require a payment simply to create or activate a standard 5 account.

Channel 5’s support list, updated April 23, 2026, includes the following categories. Exact availability can depend on the model, operating-system version, region and app-store listing.

This is why generic instructions claiming that My5 works on every smart TV, Xbox or PlayStation can be misleading. If the app is unavailable, use the website on a computer or a supported streaming platform rather than trying to force an activation code.
Troubleshooting My5/5 activation
The activation page will not open
- Type https://activate.channel5.com/ manually.
- Check that the domain is exactly activate.channel5.com.
- Try another current browser.
- Temporarily disable extensions that block scripts or pop-ups.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Avoid third-party “activation help” pages, especially those requesting payment.
The code is rejected or has expired
- Compare every character with the code on the TV.
- Do not reuse an earlier code.
- Keep the activation webpage open and signed in.
- Return to the TV app and generate a new six-digit code.
- Enter the new code promptly.
Channel 5 specifically recommends signing in on the activation website first, then reopening the TV app and entering a new code if the original attempt fails.
The account sign-in does not work
Use Forgot password and check the junk or spam folder for the reset email. Confirm that you are using the email address associated with the account. If no reset email arrives, Channel 5 recommends trying the Register option from the activation page.
The TV still shows the sign-in screen
- Close and reopen the 5 app.
- Turn off the TV or streaming device.
- Unplug it for several minutes, then reconnect it.
- Sign in at activate.channel5.com before reopening the app.
- Generate and enter a fresh code.
The 5 app is missing
Check the exact model, operating system and region settings. The TV may be unsupported, too old, awaiting an app-store update or using a platform that Channel 5 has discontinued. If the built-in TV software is no longer compatible, watching at channel5.com on a computer is the simplest alternative. A supported streaming device may also work, but check compatibility for your country and exact model before buying hardware.

- Use only activate.channel5.com for code entry.
- Check the HTTPS padlock and the complete domain before entering account details.
- Do not pay an activation or registration fee.
- Do not install an unknown QR-scanning application.
- Do not provide passwords to third-party “support” services.
- When using a QR code, verify the destination before signing in.
What to use when TV activation is not practical
Use the TV app when your device is supported and you want remote-controlled viewing. Use the website when your television is unsupported, the app is missing, or you prefer browser viewing. A supported streaming device can be an alternative to replacing an otherwise usable older television, but it is not required if the website already meets your needs.
