The ESPN Unlimited MLB.TV subscription is two separate services: MLB.TV provides US out-of-market baseball, while ESPN Unlimited provides ESPN programming. An eligible new MLB.TV purchase through ESPN includes one month of ESPN Unlimited, but ESPN Unlimited is not required to keep MLB.TV afterward. Canceling ESPN Unlimited does not automatically cancel MLB.TV.
For the 2026 US season, MLB.TV is available through the ESPN App, with access also available in the MLB App after account linking. The important decisions are whether your team’s games are blacked out, whether monthly or seasonal billing fits your viewing, and whether you want ESPN programming after the trial.
Key takeaways
- ESPN Unlimited is not required to keep MLB.TV after an eligible new subscriber’s one-month ESPN Unlimited trial ends.
- In the United States during the 2026 season, MLB.TV costs $29.99 monthly or is displayed at a promotional $94.99 seasonal price for some new ESPN customers, with a listed regular renewal price of $149.99 per season.
- MLB.TV is an out-of-market service, so local blackouts and nationally exclusive games can prevent access to particular games.
- US subscribers can use the ESPN App and MLB App after linking their ESPN/MyDisney and MLB accounts, although feature availability can differ between the apps.
- Canceling ESPN Unlimited does not automatically cancel MLB.TV; each entitlement has its own billing and cancellation controls.
How does the ESPN Unlimited MLB.TV subscription work?
The ESPN Unlimited MLB.TV subscription combines two separate entitlements: MLB.TV, which provides out-of-market baseball coverage, and ESPN Unlimited, which provides ESPN programming. A new, eligible MLB.TV customer who buys through ESPN receives one month of ESPN Unlimited, but ESPN Unlimited is not required to continue MLB.TV after the trial. ESPN Unlimited renews separately unless canceled.
In the United States during the 2026 season, MLB.TV can be purchased through the ESPN App. Subscribers can also link their accounts and use MLB.TV in the MLB App. The official ESPN explanation of MLB.TV on ESPN describes the account-linking and access arrangement.

What does MLB.TV include?
MLB.TV includes live out-of-market regular-season games, home and away broadcasts, on-demand and archived games, MLB Big Inning, and US access to MLB Network. A linked MLB account also provides access to Minor League Baseball games and live radio broadcasts for all teams.
According to MLB’s 2026 MLB.TV and ESPN FAQ, the ESPN/MLB.TV arrangement covers more than 2,000 MLB.TV games. The exact game count and distribution can vary by rights arrangement, so MLB.TV should not be understood as a guarantee that every game appears in the service.
ESPN Unlimited adds broader ESPN programming, including ESPN networks, national games, and ESPN originals. MLB.TV alone is the baseball-focused entitlement; buying MLB.TV does not automatically provide the complete ESPN Unlimited catalog.
Which MLB games are not included with MLB.TV?
MLB.TV does not guarantee access to every MLB game in every location. Local blackouts can block games involving a team in the viewer’s home market, while nationally exclusive regular-season or postseason games may be available only through the relevant national media partner.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBlackout rules depend on geography and can change. Check MLB’s official MLB.TV partner and blackout information for the location where you will watch before subscribing. A subscription is most useful for viewers who primarily follow teams outside their local market.

ESPN also has its own national programming rights. For example, ESPN vice president of programming and acquisitions Ashley O’Connor said, “We have 30 exclusive [national] games that will air across ESPN and ABC, including Jackie Robinson Day, Memorial Day, the second-half opener and, everybody’s favorite, the Little League Classic.” The statement appears in MLB’s 2026 guide to watching MLB games. Those nationally exclusive games should be checked against the platform carrying each specific broadcast.
How much does MLB.TV cost on ESPN?
The official ESPN pages currently show the following 2026 price snapshot. Prices and promotions are subject to change, and the amount displayed at checkout should control before payment.
| Subscription or route | Displayed price | Important billing detail | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| MLB.TV Monthly | $29.99 per month | Billed monthly through October and automatically resumes around March 1 for the following season unless canceled. | Viewers who want a shorter commitment or watch selectively. |
| MLB.TV Seasonal for some new ESPN customers | $94.99 promotional price for 2026 | The ESPN page currently shows renewal at the then-current regular price, listed as $149.99 per season, unless canceled. | Viewers who expect to follow baseball through the season. |
| ESPN Unlimited Monthly | $29.99 per month | New eligible MLB.TV customers receive one month, after which ESPN Unlimited auto-renews monthly unless canceled. | Viewers who also want ESPN programming and national sports coverage. |
| ESPN Unlimited Annual | $299.99 per year | Separate from the MLB.TV entitlement and billed under its own ESPN plan. | Viewers who want year-round ESPN Unlimited access. |
These prices are based on the official ESPN product and support pages available for the 2026 season. The ESPN MLB.TV product page displays the current MLB.TV offer and renewal terms, while ESPN’s plan-and-price support page lists ESPN Unlimited pricing. Confirm the price, taxes if applicable, promotional eligibility, and next billing date before completing the purchase.

Is the MLB.TV seasonal plan cheaper than monthly MLB.TV?
At the displayed 2026 promotional price, $94.99 for the seasonal plan is lower than paying $29.99 for four months of monthly MLB.TV, which totals $119.96 before any applicable taxes. The comparison changes if the promotion is unavailable or if a subscriber watches for only one or two months.
The listed $149.99 regular seasonal renewal price is higher than the promotional amount, so the renewal price—not the introductory price—should determine whether automatic renewal is worthwhile. Monthly MLB.TV also has a seasonal billing pattern: monthly billing continues through October and resumes around March 1 unless canceled.

Existing ESPN Unlimited customers may see a different discounted seasonal MLB.TV price. MLB’s official FAQ for the ESPN arrangement describes a discount for existing ESPN Unlimited subscribers, but the price displayed for the subscriber’s account at checkout is the controlling offer.
What happens after the one-month ESPN Unlimited trial?
After the one-month ESPN Unlimited trial, ESPN Unlimited automatically renews at its listed monthly price unless the subscriber cancels it. The trial is attached to the eligible new MLB.TV purchase; it is not a permanently free ESPN benefit.
ESPN Unlimited and MLB.TV are separate subscriptions. A subscriber who wants only baseball can cancel ESPN Unlimited before its trial billing date while keeping MLB.TV active. Review the cancellation confirmation and the next billing date in account management rather than assuming that removing ESPN Unlimited will remove—or preserve—every other entitlement automatically.
Can you cancel ESPN Unlimited and keep MLB.TV?
Yes. Canceling ESPN Unlimited does not automatically cancel MLB.TV, because the two subscriptions are separate. MLB.TV remains active according to its own monthly or seasonal term unless MLB.TV is separately canceled.
The safest process is to open the ESPN account’s subscription or account-management area, select ESPN Unlimited, and follow the cancellation flow. Then verify that the confirmation refers to ESPN Unlimited and that MLB.TV still appears as an active subscription. If MLB.TV was purchased through a different billing relationship, use the corresponding MLB or ESPN account-management screen for that entitlement.

How do existing subscribers use MLB.TV through ESPN?
Existing ESPN Unlimited subscribers can add MLB.TV through ESPN, and existing MLB.TV subscribers can link their MLB account to an ESPN/MyDisney account to use the subscription in the ESPN App. ESPN Unlimited is not required merely because an existing MLB.TV subscriber wants to use the ESPN App.

Can you watch MLB.TV in the ESPN App and MLB App?
US subscribers can use both the ESPN App and MLB App after completing the required account-linking process. A subscriber who bought MLB.TV through ESPN can activate the MLB account from ESPN account management, while a subscriber who bought MLB.TV from MLB can activate ESPN access from MLB account management.
The two apps may not present exactly the same features. MLB’s official partner page currently identifies MLB Network as available in the MLB App only, so subscribers who specifically want MLB Network should use the MLB App rather than assume that every MLB.TV feature appears in ESPN.
If the subscription does not appear after linking, check that the login addresses and account identities are correct, sign out and back in, and confirm that the purchase completed under the account being used. Account linking cannot remove a local blackout or grant rights to a nationally exclusive game.

- Choose MLB.TV Monthly if you need flexibility, are testing out-of-market access, or will watch for only part of the season.
- Choose MLB.TV Seasonal if your preferred team is out of market and you expect to watch regularly through the season, after comparing the promotional and renewal prices.
- Keep ESPN Unlimited if you want ESPN networks, ESPN originals, national games, and other ESPN programming beyond MLB.TV.
- Cancel ESPN Unlimited after the trial if MLB.TV is the only benefit you want; canceling ESPN Unlimited does not cancel MLB.TV.
- Check blackouts first if you mainly follow a local team, because MLB.TV may not provide the live games you actually want.
As Ashley O’Connor of ESPN described the arrangement, “So being able to include over 2,000 baseball games in there is really a match made in heaven.” The broader ESPN value is meaningful for viewers who want ESPN programming alongside baseball, but MLB.TV remains an out-of-market product rather than an all-games pass.
How should you avoid unwanted charges?
- Before subscribing, check the blackout rules for your home location and identify whether your desired games are local or nationally exclusive.
- At checkout, record whether the plan is monthly or seasonal, the promotional price, the regular renewal price, and the next billing date.
- If the one-month ESPN Unlimited trial is unwanted, cancel ESPN Unlimited before its first paid renewal.
- After cancellation, save the confirmation and verify that MLB.TV remains active if MLB.TV is the entitlement you intend to keep.
- For a seasonal plan, set a reminder before the approximate March 1 renewal date if you do not want the next season.
What if playback fails on a Windows computer?
Subscription, blackout, authentication, and billing problems are not the same as Windows performance problems. First confirm the account link, app status, blackout rules, internet connection, and subscription entitlement before changing the computer.
For a Windows computer that is genuinely struggling with video playback, a general Windows streaming performance tool may be a separate troubleshooting consideration, but such software cannot remove MLB blackouts, fix ESPN billing, authenticate an account, or grant missing streaming rights. Mobile-device and TV-app problems should be handled through ESPN or MLB support rather than a PC optimizer.
