In interviews published in 2016 and 2019, she described building a career that included swimwear, lingerie, fashion, and advertising work, while resisting the idea that she had to be a size zero.
From North Fremantle to Australia’s Next Top Model
On 8 July 2009, the ABC reported that 17-year-old Tahnee Atkinson, from North Fremantle, had won the live finale of Australia’s Next Top Model. The prize package included a 12-month modeling contract, a make-up company contract, a Harper’s Bazaar spread, and $20,000 in cash. ABC’s 2009 report records the competition milestone; it does not establish her later career conditions.
How Atkinson said her body type affected bookings
In a PerthNow interview published 25 August 2019, Atkinson gave a nuanced account of how her bust affected her work. She said: “There’s obviously that side of the industry where you have to be a size zero and have a tiny cup size, so I’ve probably lost a bit of work due to the size of my boobs but I’ve also gained a lot of work because of the size of my boobs.” That is her description of her own experience, not a statistical measure of how models are booked.
In 2016, speaking to The West Australian, she put the distinction plainly: “I am known for my curves.” The profile linked that image to her lingerie and swimwear assignments, including a Bras N Things campaign, and quoted her describing most of her work as swimwear and lingerie. The West Australian’s 2016 profile is a dated account of those bookings, not a current client roster.

What she said about size and industry change in 2019
In a separate PerthNow interview published 10 February 2019, Atkinson said, “I was never the stick-thin model.” She also said she had not felt that being outside a size-zero ideal had affected her work: “I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never felt that my weight and not being a size zero has affected my work. But now I’m working with even bigger brands and its terrific to see them embracing diversity.”
That same interview quoted her saying, “The industry is changing and I’m working with even better brands and better photographers.” Her optimism was her own assessment at that time; the available profiles do not provide industry-wide booking data that could confirm a general shift. PerthNow named work with Vogue, Tommy Hilfiger, Harper’s Bazaar, Sunglass Hut, Tiger Lily, and Linneys. The brand names describe reported assignments, not endorsements by those companies of any particular body-size policy. PerthNow’s 10 February 2019 profile also reported that she had worked consistently after leaving Perth in 2009 and described the previous year as her busiest.

Swimwear work and Kenni & Kai
Swimwear appeared in Atkinson’s modeling work and in a business project. In 2017, The West Australian reported that she was working on Kenni & Kai, a swimwear label, with her sister Kaila and saw potential in the business. PerthNow also described the sisters developing the label in its 2019 profile. Those are dated reports; they do not establish whether Kenni & Kai is still operating. The West Australian’s 2017 report covered the project, while PerthNow’s 2019 profile mentioned the sisters’ work on it.

Atkinson’s reported experience is specific: she described losing some jobs over her bust while gaining other work, particularly in areas such as swimwear and lingerie, and said she had not felt that not being a size zero had limited her overall career. Her interviews offer a model’s perspective rather than evidence that the fashion industry as a whole had become inclusive. The cited profiles also do not verify her current representation, bookings, location, or the present status of Kenni & Kai.
