Nate Bargatze pledged $250,000 of his own money to Boys & Girls Clubs of America at the end of the 2025 Emmy Awards. CBS added $100,000, making the announced combined donation $350,000. The $350,000 figure was not Bargatze’s personal contribution alone.
How the Emmy donation worked
At the 77th Emmy Awards on September 14, 2025, host Nate Bargatze opened with a $100,000 pledge to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He tied the running amount to acceptance-speech length: it would go down by $1,000 for every second a speech ran over the 45-second limit, and up by $1,000 for every second it came in under.
By the end of the telecast, the counter had fallen to negative $60,000. Bargatze then pledged $250,000 personally, and CBS added $100,000. The resulting $350,000 was the total announced for the organization from Bargatze and the broadcaster.
Why Bargatze’s personal amount was different from the total
Bargatze later said on his podcast that he had not expected to contribute $250,000 personally. Once the final amount was clear, he said, he could not refuse to pay it. He also joked that the Boys and Girls Club had received $350,000—a reference to the combined Bargatze-and-CBS total.

What Boys & Girls Clubs of America said
Lisa Anastasi, the organization’s chief development and external relations officer, called the $350,000 a “generous surprise.” She said it would support programs and affect the lives of children and teens who attend its Clubs. Anastasi also said the telecast put the organization’s mission and Club Kids before a national audience.
The Associated Press reported that, according to Anastasi, donations to the organization had more than doubled compared with the same time the previous week, and search interest had reached a record high after the broadcast. That broader public response was separate from the $350,000 announced by Bargatze and CBS; the AP report gave no dollar total for the subsequent increase.
