Your home internet does not need to carry Gyre’s continuous 24/7 broadcast. Once your videos are uploaded, Gyre sends the stream from its servers. Your connection is used to upload the video files and manage the service, so the upload speed you need depends on their size and how quickly you want them transferred—not on a published India-wide minimum Mbps figure.
Does your internet need to stay on while Gyre is streaming?
No—not to upload the ongoing broadcast from your home. Gyre says its server receives and forwards the stream, so your computer and home connection do not take part in the broadcast itself. You still need internet access for setup and to upload videos to Gyre storage before creating a stream. Gyre’s explanation of cloud delivery and its video preparation guidance describe this workflow.
This differs from streaming directly with an encoder on your computer: in that setup, your connection continuously sends the live feed to YouTube. With Gyre, the continuous stream is sent from Gyre’s servers after the source files are uploaded.
Do you need 10 Mbps upload for Gyre?
Not just to keep a Gyre stream running. YouTube’s live-encoder bitrate recommendations describe the feed going from an encoder to YouTube; they are not minimum home broadband speeds for Gyre. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate when sending a live encoder feed. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists these ingestion rates:

These are YouTube’s recommended encoder-to-YouTube bitrates, not a claim that a Gyre user in India needs the same sustained upload speed at home. Gyre’s cited guidance describes cloud delivery, and the published YouTube figures are organized by encoding format, resolution and frame rate—not by country.
What upload speed matters for uploading videos to Gyre?
Your upstream connection affects how long the initial upload takes. Gyre’s Help Center says all video files must be uploaded to Gyre storage to create a stream, including files previously used on YouTube. A faster sustained upload rate can shorten that transfer, but the cited guidance does not set a minimum Mbps requirement or target upload time. Estimate the time using the total size of the files you plan to upload and your measured sustained upload rate. If a large playlist must be ready by a particular time, allow for upload taking longer than an ideal-speed estimate; the sources do not establish a standard allowance or an India-wide speed tier. Download speed alone does not tell you how quickly files will upload.
How to prepare files and start a Gyre stream
- Check the source files. Gyre’s Help Center lists these preparation values for HD and Full HD: 1280×720 or 1920×1080 resolution, H.264 video, 3072–6144 kbps video bitrate, 128 kbps audio and 30 fps. These are Gyre-published preparation settings, not a residential internet requirement. The article contains a confusing reference to “Frame rates 44.1 kHz”; because kHz is not a frame-rate unit, do not treat that phrase as a frame-rate setting. Gyre Help Center: video preparation.
- Upload every file you want to use. Upload them to Gyre storage before creating the stream, including previously uploaded YouTube videos if you plan to use them through Gyre.
- Connect your channel and choose a playlist. Gyre’s newer explanation describes connecting the channel, uploading files, selecting a playlist and starting the broadcast. It also says a built-in converter can optimize files that do not fit its platform requirements. Gyre’s 2026 workflow explanation.
- Start the broadcast and check YouTube’s stream status. YouTube’s bitrate testing advice applies to a local encoder feed; it does not turn the encoder bitrate into a required home speed for Gyre’s cloud-sent stream.
What this means for Indian creators
There is no India-specific minimum upload speed established in the cited Gyre or YouTube guidance for running a 24/7 stream through Gyre. For the cloud workflow, size your connection around the time you have available to upload your files. If you instead send the broadcast directly from a local encoder, use YouTube’s encoder bitrate recommendations as a guide to the sustained upstream capacity that workflow needs.
