That is her interview estimate—not an audited total or a typical household budget. The figure sits alongside a reported $10,000 annual storage bill and a creative path that began with a few hundred dollars’ worth of seasonal projects.
How much does Macy Blackwell spend on Halloween?
“We’re probably around six figures for a Halloween for sure,” Blackwell told Realtor.com in an interview published October 31, 2024. She also described her approach plainly: “Halloween, there is no budget. It is what it is. It’s going to cost what it’s going to cost.”
The six-figure amount is Blackwell’s own estimate for her Halloween season, as reported in 2024. The article does not present an audited accounting, itemized budget, or figure that should be applied to other households. Blackwell was based in Southlake, Texas, and had built a large seasonal-decor presence online; Realtor.com reported about four million followers across Instagram and TikTok at the time. That audience count is historical, not a verified current total.
What does the reported spending include?
Realtor.com reported that Blackwell paid about $10,000 per year for professional off-season storage for seasonal decorations, including oversized pieces such as large skeletons. This is a reported expense specific to her collection, not a benchmark for ordinary storage.

One of her best-known projects was a pumpkin arch over her porch, installed in 2021. Blackwell recalled that the supplies cost $800 at the time. The report also showed a giant Halloween snake she made from garbage bags and tape, a reminder that her decorating content ranges from large installations to DIY ideas made with everyday materials.
How did her Halloween content begin?
Blackwell said she began with a few hundred dollars per season and started at Dollar Tree. “I started at the Dollar Tree. I started just being able to maybe spend a couple hundred bucks each season, so that’s definitely the root of this,” she told Realtor.com.

Her early appeal was practical: ideas that families could make without committing a lot of money or time. Blackwell said, “People wanted easy stuff that anyone could do,” and described the audience she had in mind as busy people and parents who wanted to make holidays memorable without blowing the budget or spending too much time.

2024 coverage described Blackwell’s creator business as earning through affiliate links and brand deals. In Yahoo’s reproduction of a People interview published in October 2024, Blackwell said at least 90% of her income came from brand deals at that time. That is a dated statement; current income sources and proportions have not been established.
