At that constant draw, a year of 24/7 operation uses about 140–193 kWh. At an illustrative electricity rate of $0.15/kWh, that works out to about $21–$29 a year, or $1.75–$2.41 a month. Your actual cost depends on the complete system’s measured power and the rate on your electricity bill.
“YouTube stream” can also mean broadcasting a continuous live stream to YouTube. The figures below are for video playback, not for encoding and broadcasting; the cited reviews do not establish the power use of a 24/7 broadcast workload.
What the 5600U mini PC measurements show
The best match for continuous YouTube playback in the available measurements is Techtest’s review of an ACEMAGICIAN AMR5 with a Ryzen 5 5600U. It reports approximately 16–22 W during ordinary use, including YouTube videos, in Performance mode. That is a measurement of one reviewed configuration, not a guaranteed draw for every 5600U mini PC, video resolution, browser, or power mode. Techtest’s AMR5 review
Other reviews report different measurements for the AMR5 under their own conditions:

- Notebookcheck reports 8.4–9.3 W at idle and 46.4–52 W under load. Its review identifies a Metrahit Energy meter for wall-side system-power measurement. It also reports no problems playing its 4K YouTube test video, with the integrated GPU at about 20% load. That demonstrates playback in that test, not a universal 4K playback wattage.
- VideoCardz reports device idle readings of 10.9–11.7 W and device load readings of 23.6–37 W across Silent, Auto, and Performance modes. Its lower CPU-package readings are not whole-system wall-power readings.
- Techtest reports 10–11 W at idle and about 48 W at full load, alongside the 16–22 W ordinary-use/YouTube range.
The results differ by review, power mode, and measurement procedure. Do not average them into a supposed universal 5600U figure. In particular, idle power and CPU-package power are not substitutes for measuring the whole system during playback.
Estimate the annual electricity cost
For a 365-day year, continuous operation totals 8,760 hours. Use this calculation with the average whole-system watts and your all-in electricity price per kWh:

The $0.15/kWh rate is an example input for the arithmetic, not a claim about your local tariff. Replace it with the full per-kWh rate on your current bill. The table counts only the equipment included in the measured watts. Add a display, powered speakers, or other devices only if they also run continuously and are included in the measurement.

For context, Techtest’s reported 10–11 W idle range would equal 87.6–96.36 kWh over 8,760 hours if the PC actually remained idle throughout. That is not a suitable playback estimate: video playback can draw more power.
Measure your own playback setup for a better estimate
- Plug a watt meter or electricity-usage monitor between the wall outlet and the mini PC’s power adapter. Measure the complete PC and adapter, not just CPU-package power.
- Run YouTube using the browser, resolution, display arrangement, and power mode you expect to keep in use. Include any peripherals you want counted in the bill estimate.
- Let playback run long enough to represent normal operation, then use the average watts rather than a brief peak. Reviews of the same AMR5 report varying figures, so another system’s idle or playback number may not match yours.
- Multiply the measured average watts by 8.76 to estimate kWh for a 365-day year, then multiply that result by your bill’s electricity price per kWh. If the meter reports kWh directly, scale its measured interval to a year and account for whether playback is continuous.
If you mean broadcasting a live stream, playback figures do not answer the power question
A mini PC playing a YouTube video and a PC encoding and broadcasting a live stream have different workloads. The published 16–22 W figure is for ordinary use including YouTube playback; the cited reviews do not provide a measured 24/7 broadcast-and-encode figure for the AMR5. Treat the broadcast power cost as unresolved until you measure that workload at the wall under the settings you intend to use.

For a 5600U hardware reference, GIGABYTE publishes specifications for its GB-BER5-5600 barebone mini PC, but those specifications do not establish its whole-system power draw during a continuous YouTube broadcast: GB-BER5-5600 specifications.
