There is no publicly disclosed current subscriber count for NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube. The most specific public figure is Antenna’s estimate of 1.3 million sign-ups through October 1, 2023, during the service’s first season on YouTube. Alphabet later said NFL Sunday Ticket reached its highest paid-subscriber total in the product’s history, but it did not disclose the number.
So 1.3 million should not be presented as the service’s current active subscriber count.

The figures come from different types of evidence and cannot be combined into one verified subscriber total.

Antenna estimated 1.3 million sign-ups from the April 2023 launch through October 1, 2023. This was a launch-period estimate for the first NFL season in which consumers could buy Sunday Ticket through YouTube.

“Sign-ups” is narrower and less precise than “current subscribers.” The figure does not establish:
- How many customers were still paying at the end of the season.
- How many renewed for later seasons.
- How many represented unique households across multiple seasons.
- Whether every transaction was a completed, standard-price subscription rather than a promotional or trial transaction.
- How many viewers used each account.
Antenna is an independent subscription-analytics firm, so this was not an official subscriber disclosure from YouTube, Google, Alphabet, or the NFL. The measurement date matters: the estimate is through October 1, 2023, not a full-season total and not a 2026 count.
What Alphabet revealed later
During its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings discussion, Alphabet said NFL Sunday Ticket had achieved its highest paid-subscriber number in the history of the product. Alphabet described strong subscriber growth on YouTube but did not provide an absolute total. The statement is reported in Alphabet’s investor materials and its earnings message.
That tells us the later paid-subscriber level exceeded earlier paid-subscriber levels. It does not tell us whether the total was 1.4 million, 2 million, or any other number. Converting “highest ever” into a specific current count would be speculation.

Why there is no reliable current total
Alphabet does not report NFL Sunday Ticket as a separate subscriber line in its public financial reporting. Its 2025 Form 10-K places NFL Sunday Ticket among a broader group of subscription products, including YouTube TV, YouTube Music, YouTube Premium, and Google One.
That consolidated reporting prevents readers from deriving a Sunday Ticket count from Alphabet’s overall subscription revenue. Pricing, billing arrangements, promotions, and product mix vary, and the reported revenue combines several businesses.
Alphabet’s investor FAQ also helps distinguish aggregate subscription reporting from standalone NFL Sunday Ticket subscriptions. YouTube’s total paid subscriptions are not the same thing as Sunday Ticket customers.

The NFL’s distribution agreement moved the U.S. consumer version of Sunday Ticket from DirecTV’s consumer platform to YouTube beginning with the 2023 NFL season. Customers can generally purchase it in two ways:

- YouTube Primetime Channels: Sunday Ticket can be purchased as a standalone subscription without subscribing to YouTube TV.
Antenna estimated that 62% of 2023 sign-ups came through YouTube TV, with the remaining sign-ups coming through other YouTube purchase paths. That channel split was also reported by StreamTV Insider. It remains an estimate, not an official YouTube customer breakdown.
This is why YouTube TV’s subscriber count cannot be used as a Sunday Ticket count. Some YouTube TV customers do not buy Sunday Ticket, while some Sunday Ticket customers subscribe through Primetime Channels and do not have YouTube TV.
What the 22% survey figure means
S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Kagan research reported that 22% of surveyed NFL viewers said they subscribed to Sunday Ticket for the 2024 season, up from 19% the previous year.
This is a survey result from an online consumer survey conducted in the first quarter of 2025. It is not an official count of paying YouTube accounts. “NFL viewers” is also not interchangeable with all NFL fans, all U.S. households, or all YouTube users. Without a defensible denominator and a clear method for handling household sharing and overlapping subscriptions, the percentage cannot produce a precise subscriber total.

Subscriber, account, household, and viewer are different measures
Reports about Sunday Ticket can become misleading when these terms are treated as synonyms:
- Sign-up: A customer transaction or observed subscription acquisition during a period.
- Paid subscriber: A paying customer at a particular point or measurement period.
- Account: The Google or YouTube billing account associated with the purchase.
- Household: The people who may share access under the applicable YouTube terms.
- Viewer: An individual watching through an account; one account can serve multiple viewers.
- Renewing subscriber: A customer who purchases again for a later season.
YouTube’s official information explains that a Google family group may share YouTube TV or Primetime Channels with up to five additional household members, subject to the relevant terms. Therefore, an account count would not necessarily equal the number of people watching.

The figures above concern the U.S. consumer service. NFL Sunday Ticket’s YouTube distribution agreement covers consumers in the United States. The NFL’s support documentation directs viewers outside the U.S. toward DAZN.

Sunday Ticket also does not include every NFL broadcast. It is designed for out-of-market Sunday afternoon games. Local games and nationally televised games follow different broadcast and streaming arrangements. NFL+ is not a substitute for Sunday Ticket: according to NFL support, NFL+ offers a different mix of mobile access, local and primetime games on supported devices, replays, audio, and NFL Network features.

What this means for a potential buyer
The undisclosed subscriber total does not by itself determine whether Sunday Ticket is worthwhile. The relevant choice is the type of access a viewer needs:
- Choose standalone Sunday Ticket through YouTube if the priority is out-of-market Sunday afternoon football without a full live-TV bundle.
- Choose YouTube TV plus Sunday Ticket if the household also wants local broadcast stations and a broader live-TV service.
- Choose NFL+ only if mobile access, local and primetime games on supported devices, replays, audio, or NFL Network matter more than the full out-of-market Sunday slate.
Check the billing route, promotional eligibility, renewal terms, and household-sharing rules before purchasing. Offers and prices change by season and may apply only to qualifying new customers. The official YouTube Sunday Ticket page is the appropriate place to check current terms.
Common mistakes when citing the subscriber number
- Calling 1.3 million the current subscriber total.
- Describing Antenna’s estimate as an official YouTube disclosure.
- Treating Alphabet’s “highest ever” claim as a numerical figure.
- Using YouTube TV’s total customer count as Sunday Ticket’s count.
- Turning the 22% survey result into 22% of all NFL fans or households.
- Mixing residential subscriptions with separate commercial distribution.
- Confusing subscriber accounts with the number of people watching.
Bottom line
As of August 18, 2026, NFL Sunday Ticket’s exact current YouTube subscriber count is not publicly disclosed. The last specific public estimate is Antenna’s 1.3 million sign-ups through October 1, 2023; Alphabet later confirmed record paid-subscriber growth but did not reveal a 2025 or 2026 total.
