Hulu includes two simultaneous streams on its regular plans. Hulu + Live TV also includes two screens by default; subscribers can add Unlimited Screens for more than two supported devices at home and three mobile screens while away from home.

Hulu’s content page states that its regular streaming library can be watched on two different screens at the same time. The Hulu + Live TV plan page gives the base Live TV service the same default allowance.
What “two streams” means
A stream is a piece of content playing at a particular moment. The two-stream limit is about concurrent playback, not the number of devices on which your account can be signed in.
For example, two people could watch different programs on two televisions, or one person could watch on a television while another uses a phone or tablet. Signing in on additional supported devices does not create additional simultaneous streams.

Profiles personalize recommendations and watch histories, but they should not be treated as separate subscriptions or extra stream allowances. Creating more profiles is therefore not a way to increase Hulu’s concurrent-viewing limit.
Does Hulu with ads include fewer streams than Hulu Premium?
Hulu’s current public information presents the regular Hulu library as supporting two simultaneous screens on both its standard ad-supported and premium plans. The available plan information does not establish a different stream allowance between those two tiers.
The main distinction between those plans is the advertising experience and other plan features—not a larger number of ordinary Hulu streams. Plan features can change, so check the details shown at checkout for the subscription you are considering.

How many streams does Hulu + Live TV include?
The base Hulu + Live TV subscription allows up to two screens at the same time. That applies when people are watching live television as well as when they are using Hulu’s on-demand library. Switching one viewer from live programming to an on-demand show does not create a separate allowance.

Hulu + Live TV is a household-oriented service with location and supported-device requirements. Hulu currently lists Live TV availability in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Its terms and plan details may change, and some programming may be affected by regional availability, blackouts, device compatibility, or content rights.
What does the Unlimited Screens add-on do?
Unlimited Screens is presented as an option for Hulu + Live TV, rather than a general add-on for ordinary Hulu plans. It allows more than two supported devices to stream simultaneously at home. It also permits three mobile screens while away from home.
“Unlimited” does not mean unlimited viewing everywhere or on every type of content. The add-on remains subject to supported-device, location, household, mobile, and programming restrictions. Hulu’s public plan display does not clearly show a current price for Unlimited Screens, so confirm the price in the live signup or account flow before purchasing.
Regular Hulu subscribers should not assume that they can buy Unlimited Screens independently. If the household only needs the on-demand Hulu library, the standard two-screen allowance is the relevant limit.

Premium add-ons can have separate limits
Premium-network content does not necessarily follow the general Hulu or Live TV allowance. Hulu’s HBO Max on Hulu FAQ says that HBO Max content watched through Hulu is limited to two simultaneous screens—even when a Hulu + Live TV subscriber has Unlimited Screens.
The same FAQ describes certain other premium add-ons as supporting up to five simultaneous screens, with no more than three of those screens out of the home on mobile devices. These are limits for the applicable premium content, not a blanket rule for every Hulu title.
What if you watch Hulu through Disney+?
Selected Hulu content can be accessed inside Disney+. Hulu states that Hulu content viewed through Disney+ is limited to two devices simultaneously. That should not be confused with Disney+’s own allowance for Disney+ content.

- Watching Hulu directly in the Hulu app or at Hulu.com.
- Watching selected Hulu content inside the Disney+ app.
- Watching Disney+ programming in Disney+.
- Watching ESPN programming in the separate ESPN app.
A bundle can put services under one billing arrangement, but it does not automatically create unlimited combined streaming across Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN. The availability of Hulu titles within Disney+ may also differ from the full Hulu library. See Hulu’s network information for the stated Disney+ access and device limit.

What happens when a third person tries to watch?
If two permitted streams are already playing, a third viewer may see a message saying that too many devices are watching. The exact wording and account-menu labels can change.
- Stop playback on an unused television, phone, tablet, browser tab, or streaming device.
- Close the Hulu app or browser tab on that device; stopping playback alone may leave a session active briefly.
- Wait a short time, then reopen Hulu on the device that needs to play.
- Review the subscription’s current feature list to confirm that Unlimited Screens is actually attached to the account, if you pay for it.
- Sign out of unfamiliar devices or change the password if you suspect unauthorized access.
- Contact Hulu Support if the account continues to show a limit that does not match the plan.
If Unlimited Screens appears not to work, possible causes include a missing or incorrectly applied add-on, a premium service with its own restriction, an out-of-home device that is not eligible, an unsupported device, or a stale playback session. Accounts billed through a third party may also require the subscription features to be checked with that provider.

The most generous Unlimited Screens behavior applies to supported in-home devices. Away from home, Hulu specifies three mobile screens—not unlimited screens on televisions or across multiple residences.
That distinction matters for people who travel, use a second home, or want to share Hulu + Live TV with people in another household. Hulu + Live TV has household and location-related requirements, including location data for some content. Review the current Live TV plan details and Subscriber Agreement before relying on the service across different residences.

Is Unlimited Screens worth adding?
Two streams are usually enough for a small household, a single viewer moving between devices, or a home where one television and one phone or tablet are used at the same time.
Unlimited Screens may be worth considering if three or more people regularly watch Hulu + Live TV simultaneously at home, several household televisions are commonly in use, or one person needs a mobile stream while others are watching at home. The relevant question is how many people play content at once—not how many devices have Hulu installed.
It may not be worthwhile if the household rarely exceeds two concurrent streams, does not need live channels, or mainly wants HBO Max content through Hulu, which retains its own two-screen limit. Compare the add-on’s current checkout price with the household’s actual viewing pattern rather than buying it solely because the account is used on many devices.

Unlimited DVR is not Unlimited Screens
Hulu + Live TV may include Unlimited DVR, but DVR storage and simultaneous playback are separate features. Unlimited recording capacity does not increase the number of programs that can be watched at once.
Device type does not create a separate allowance
Hulu does not present a special general allowance for televisions, phones, tablets, browsers, or streaming boxes. The two-screen rule is the useful baseline, subject to compatible-device, broadband, location, and content restrictions.
Downloads should not be assumed to bypass every rule
Downloaded titles are not the same as online simultaneous playback, but download availability depends on the plan, title, device, and Hulu’s current rules. Do not treat downloads as a guaranteed way to bypass account or content restrictions.
Bottom line
Regular Hulu includes two simultaneous streams, and Hulu + Live TV also starts with two. Hulu + Live TV subscribers who need more in-home viewing can add Unlimited Screens for more than two supported home devices and three mobile screens away from home. Premium add-ons and Hulu content viewed through Disney+ can have separate limits, so check the specific service and plan before subscribing.
