Jayne Mansfield had five children: Jayne Marie, Mickey Jr., Zoltan, Mariska Hargitay and Anthony Richard “Tony” Cimber. Three—Mickey Jr., Zoltan and Mariska—were in the car when Mansfield died in a 1967 crash near New Orleans. All three survived. Who were Jayne Mansfield’s children?

Biography.com also gives the total as five, using the familiar name “Antonio” for the youngest child. Name forms vary between sources; the Handbook records his formal name as Anthony Richard.
What happened to the children in the 1967 crash?
Mansfield died in a motor-vehicle crash near New Orleans on June 29, 1967, while traveling to a television engagement, according to the Handbook of Texas. The three children she had with Mickey Hargitay—Mickey Jr., Zoltan and Mariska—were in the car and survived. Biography.com describes them as injured; the three adults in the front seat died.

TIME’s 2025 coverage of My Mom Jayne recounts a specific moment in the rescue: after Mickey Jr. and Zoltan had been carried away, Zoltan noticed Mariska was missing and called attention to it. TIME says Mariska was pinned beneath the passenger seat with a head injury. This detail comes from the documentary’s account as reported by TIME, rather than an official accident record.
Who raised Mariska Hargitay after her mother’s death?
TIME reports that Mickey Hargitay and Ellen Siano, whom he married after divorcing Mansfield, raised Mariska and two of her brothers after Mansfield’s death. Mariska has described Mickey as her father even after learning that he was not her biological father.
In a 2025 Los Angeles Times interview, Hargitay said she learned at 25 that Mickey was not her biological father, while affirming their relationship: “nothing can change the fact that Mickey Hargitay is my father.” Biography.com and TIME reported in 2025 that entertainer Nelson Sardelli was identified as her biological father. Those facts distinguish biological parentage from the father-daughter bond Hargitay says she shares with Mickey.
