The official FAQ lists $5.99 per month or $59.88 every 12 months as standard prices, while the lifetime offer page reviewed on October 9, 2026 displayed $199 once. Trials, promotions, taxes, payment methods and regional availability can differ, so the checkout screen is the final authority.
The most important distinction is that “lifetime” does not mean perpetual ownership of the service or its programs: the specific offer states a 75-year term. Recurring subscriptions can be canceled before the next renewal, with access normally continuing until the end of the already-paid period.
What you are buying
MagellanTV is a documentary streaming service. A subscription gives you a limited, personal license to stream available programs rather than ownership of films or a permanent download library. The catalog is delivered through supported web, mobile and television platforms, and individual titles can be affected by licensing rights.
There are four practical purchase routes:
- A monthly recurring membership.
- An annual recurring membership.
- A one-time offer marketed as a 75-year membership.
- A gift membership purchased for another person.
Monthly and annual memberships continue until you cancel them. The one-time offer has a stated duration, so treat it as long-term prepaid access, not an undocumented promise of perpetual service. Before paying, confirm the exact price, term, renewal language, taxes and payment method shown for your location.

Plan prices and what each option means

The annual standard price is about $11.88 less than paying $5.99 every month for 12 months ($71.88), assuming both prices remain unchanged and before taxes. That is a mathematical comparison, not a price guarantee. Promotional pages can show a different first-year amount; one page observed on October 9, 2026 showed a reduced annual price for year one followed by $59.88 beginning in year two. The promotional first-year figure was not fixed across all pages, so rely on the offer displayed when you subscribe.
For a simple break-even check, $199 equals roughly 33 months at $5.99 per month or about 3.3 years at the $59.88 annual rate. This calculation assumes the recurring prices do not change and ignores taxes, promotions and the time value of money. It does not establish that the 75-year offer will remain available or that every current program will remain streamable for that entire period.
How recurring billing and renewals work
Both monthly and annual memberships are recurring subscriptions. Monthly billing attempts another charge each month; annual billing attempts another charge every 12 months. The subscription terms say you must cancel before the next renewal date to avoid the next charge. A price shown today is therefore not necessarily the price you will pay indefinitely: the terms allow subscription fees to change with advance notice.
After a successful renewal, your new billing period begins according to the plan’s schedule. If a payment fails, the account may be subject to the billing platform’s retry or access rules; check the account and payment provider rather than assuming a failed charge automatically cancels the membership.
Payment methods can vary by country. The FAQ reviewed for this article says PayPal is not available at checkout, but payment options are changeable. Check the current checkout page for the methods accepted in your location.
Trials: eligibility is offer-specific
MagellanTV does not promise one universal trial for every subscriber. Its FAQ says monthly offers may include a seven-day trial and annual offers may include a 14-day trial. Whether you receive a trial, how long it lasts and which price follows it depend on the particular offer and your eligibility.

When a trial is presented, read the checkout language for four details:
- The exact trial length and the date and time it ends.
- The recurring price that starts afterward.
- The renewal interval—monthly or every 12 months.
- The cancellation deadline required to prevent the first charge.
Unless the displayed terms say otherwise, billing begins when the trial ends if you have not canceled. Save the confirmation email and set a reminder before the deadline; do not rely on merely deleting the app or signing out.
How to cancel a website subscription
Cancellation normally stops the next renewal rather than ending access immediately. The official terms state that cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing period, so you generally keep viewing access until the date you already paid through. Amounts already paid are not refunded under the quoted terms.
- Sign in to the MagellanTV account that holds the subscription.
- Open the profile menu.
- Find the subscription or membership management area and select the cancellation control shown there.
- Follow the confirmation prompts through the final confirmation screen.
- Record the displayed end date and keep the confirmation email or screenshot.
After canceling, revisit the account page to verify that the next renewal is no longer scheduled. If the account still shows an upcoming charge, repeat the process or contact support before the renewal date. Uninstalling the application, removing a payment card or stopping playback does not by itself cancel a recurring plan.
Subscriptions billed by an app store or another platform
If you paid through a third party, cancellation and billing management occur in that third party’s subscription settings, not in the MagellanTV website profile. The terms specifically warn that subscriptions billed through a platform such as Apple must be canceled through that platform’s account.
Use the account that made the purchase, open its active subscriptions list, select MagellanTV and choose the platform’s cancel option. The labels and menu paths can change between operating-system versions. Confirm the resulting expiration date and retain the receipt. If the service does not appear in the expected list, check other account logins and the original receipt before opening a second subscription.

What the 75-year “lifetime” offer includes—and does not establish
The offer page reviewed on October 9, 2026 used the labels “LIFETIME,” “$199.00 One-Time Payment” and “75-year membership.” The precise duration is the 75-year statement. That wording is safer and more accurate than promising access forever.
The terms describe a limited, personal, non-commercial streaming license. They do not give you ownership of the documentaries, downloadable files or permanent rights to every title. Program viewing periods can vary when distribution rights change, and the reviewed materials do not guarantee that every program will remain available in every country for the full 75 years.
The public terms reviewed do not explain what happens after the 75-year period ends. Do not infer an automatic extension, transferability, refund or conversion to another plan. If that distant end date matters to your decision, ask MagellanTV for written clarification before purchasing and keep the answer with your receipt.
A lifetime purchase is also account-based access, not a physical asset. Protect the account credentials, review any stated personal-use restrictions and do not assume the membership can be resold or shared commercially.

Gift memberships
MagellanTV’s gift page displayed six-month, annual and lifetime choices, with email or print delivery options. The purchaser selects the gift and the recipient activates access on an account. Confirm the recipient’s email address, delivery method and any activation deadline before placing the order.
A gift does not remove the normal service limitations: the recipient still needs a supported device and an eligible regional catalog, and the lifetime gift uses the same stated 75-year wording rather than an unlimited perpetual promise. Check whether the gift is a one-time term or a renewing subscription before checkout so the recipient is not surprised by future charges.

Devices, casting and international availability
The FAQ lists browser access, mobile applications and connected-TV or plug-in options including Roku and Fire TV. Casting is supported on listed compatible devices. You do not need a particular television brand if you can use a supported browser, mobile app or streaming device, but compatibility should be checked for the exact model and operating system.
MagellanTV says it is available internationally, yet program rights differ by country. A subscription can therefore work while a specific documentary is unavailable in your territory. Before buying for travel or a recipient abroad, test the intended device and review the local catalog where possible. A virtual private network or location change should not be treated as a guaranteed solution to licensing restrictions.
The service’s homepage currently advertises “4,000+ Documentaries,” while the FAQ separately says over 3,000 programs. These are publisher claims displayed on different pages, not an independently audited, permanent count. The homepage figure was current on October 9, 2026; catalog totals can change as titles are added or removed.

Choose monthly when flexibility matters most
Monthly billing suits someone testing the catalog, watching for a short project or avoiding a large upfront commitment. Set a calendar reminder before the next monthly renewal if you only need one or two billing cycles.
Choose annual when you expect to watch for a year
The standard annual price is lower than 12 standard monthly payments, but the charge is collected for the entire year. Compare the renewal price—not only a discounted first-year promotion—and make sure you are comfortable paying for the full period if your viewing habits change.
Consider the 75-year offer only as long-term prepaid access
The one-time price can reach its arithmetic break-even point after several years, but the decision depends on your confidence in the service, catalog, account continuity and the stated term. The offer does not establish perpetual access, ownership of programs or a guaranteed catalog for every country.

Use a gift when the recipient, not the purchaser, needs the account
Gifts are useful when you want to provide a defined access period without handing over your own login. Confirm the recipient’s region, device and activation details first.
Checklist before you click “pay”
- Confirm whether the page says monthly, annual or one-time 75-year access.
- Record the displayed price, taxes, promotional period and post-promotion renewal price.
- Check whether a seven-day monthly or 14-day annual trial is actually included in your offer.
- Note the renewal date and the cancellation route—website profile or third-party billing account.
- Verify that your intended browser, phone, television or streaming device is supported.
- Check regional availability if you or the recipient lives outside the United States.
- Save the receipt, terms and any cancellation confirmation.
Common problems and practical fixes
A charge appeared after a trial
Check the trial end date and the account that signed up. If you canceled after the deadline, the charge may cover the newly started billing period; the published terms say paid periods are not refunded. Contact support promptly with the receipt and cancellation evidence, but do not assume an exception.
The website does not show a cancellation button
You may be signed into a different account, or the subscription may be billed through an app store. Search the original receipt, identify the billing platform and manage the subscription there. Confirm the renewal status after making the change.
A documentary is missing
Catalog rights vary by country and can change over time. Verify the account’s region and search the service again on a supported device. A missing title does not necessarily indicate a problem with the subscription.

Confirm the exact device model and app version, sign out and back in, and test playback in a supported browser or mobile app. If another device works, the issue is likely platform-specific rather than a billing problem.
Terms and price changes to keep in mind
The Terms of Use page reviewed for this article displays an effective date of June 1, 2018. It says subscriptions continue until canceled, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and previously paid amounts are not refunded. It also allows fee changes with advance notice. Because offers, device support, payment methods and catalog rights can change, check the current terms and checkout page immediately before purchase or renewal.
