Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is no documented Studio screen that guarantees a YouTube livestream is copyright-cleared before it starts. During a broadcast, monitor YouTube’s Live Control Room for warnings; if the stream stops, check the Studio dashboard for strikes. For a notice on an uploaded or archived video, use the separate Content page and its Restrictions column.
What YouTube checks during a livestream
YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it identifies a match, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder image and warn you to stop streaming the content. If the content remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
This is a real-time matching process, not a universal pre-broadcast clearance result in Studio. A clean preview does not guarantee that a stream will avoid a later warning or interruption.
How to monitor and respond while live
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and preview the stream before starting. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend previewing there before selecting Start Streaming. The Live Control Room also shows stream metrics during and after a stream; neither the preview nor the metrics are a copyright clearance check. See YouTube live streaming tips and Get started with live streaming.
- Keep the Live Control Room open while broadcasting. Watch for a copyright warning or other notice from YouTube.
- If YouTube reports matched third-party content, stop or remove it promptly. YouTube says the stream may continue if you address the warning. If the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Don’t assume you can wait until the stream ends to deal with a live match.
If the stream stops, check the Studio dashboard for strikes
Open YouTube Studio and check the dashboard for copyright strikes and any listed next steps. YouTube specifically directs creators whose livestream stops to check the dashboard. An active livestream copyright strike, as well as a match to another copyrighted live broadcast, can be among the reasons live-streaming access is restricted. YouTube’s India-locale Strikes FAQ explains strike status; its live-streaming restrictions guidance covers live access restrictions.

For a video notice, use the Restrictions column
This route applies to a video’s status in Studio; it is not a livestream precheck.
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Choose Content.
- Find the video and inspect its Restrictions column.
- Hover over the notice to see more information and any available review option.
YouTube documents these steps in Manage restrictions on your content. A Content ID claim on an archived livestream is a separate, later process: YouTube says it is made after the live stream is complete if you choose to archive it.

Licensed content may still need channel allowlisting
Having permission or a licence to use third-party material does not guarantee that YouTube’s live matching system will let the stream continue without interruption. YouTube advises creators with licensed content to ask the rights owner to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that a stream may still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted, even when the stream is limited to territories where the creator has the necessary rights. Confirm the licence covers your planned livestream and ask the rights owner about allowlisting before you go live.
YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say creators represent that they have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights, and must satisfy requirements in the territory of the stream.
