The short answer is that most viewers in Canada use Sportsnet—through a cable package or Sportsnet+—but it is not the complete answer. In 2026, selected Blue Jays games are exclusive to Apple TV, while viewers in the United States generally need MLB.TV unless a local or national blackout applies.
The right service depends mainly on your country, whether you already pay for television, and whether you want every available game or only the regular Toronto broadcast.
How Canadians watch Blue Jays games
Canada is the Blue Jays’ home market, so the team’s games are primarily carried by Rogers Sportsnet. Depending on the game and your television package, the broadcast may appear on Sportsnet, Sportsnet ONE, or another Sportsnet channel. French-language coverage is available through TVA Sports.
MLB’s 2026 team guide identifies Sportsnet+ as the Canadian in-market streaming service. That makes MLB.TV a poor substitute for most Canadian fans: it is designed for out-of-market viewing, not as the normal way to watch Toronto games inside Canada.

Option 1: Use a cable or satellite package
If Sportsnet is included with your television subscription, you can watch on the appropriate Sportsnet channel. You may also be able to stream the channel through the Sportsnet app without purchasing Sportsnet+ separately.
On a connected TV, the usual sign-in process is:
- Open the Sportsnet app and choose Sign In With TV Provider.
- On another device, visit watch.sportsnet.ca/tv.
- Enter the activation code shown on your television.
- Select your television provider.
- Enter the same credentials you use to manage your provider account or online bill.
This method authenticates your existing television subscription. It does not mean that every Sportsnet stream is automatically available with every package, so check which Sportsnet channels your provider includes.
Option 2: Subscribe to Sportsnet+ without cable
For a cord-cutter, the practical Canadian choice is Sportsnet+ Standard. The current listed price is CA$29.99 per month or CA$249.99 per year. Sportsnet says those prices rise to CA$34.99 per month and CA$269.99 per year on September 22, 2026.
The Standard plan includes more than 150 Blue Jays games, more than 150 U.S. MLB games, and every MLB postseason and World Series game. The wording matters: this is not a promise of all 162 Toronto games. Some games have separate exclusive rights.
You can watch Sportsnet+ in a web browser or through the Sportsnet app on supported phones, tablets, smart TVs, streaming devices, and game consoles. To activate it on a television:
- Open the Sportsnet app and select Sign in with Sportsnet+.
- Visit watch.sportsnet.ca/activate.
- Sign in with your Sportsnet account.
- Enter the activation code displayed on the TV.
You do not need the Premium plan simply to watch Blue Jays baseball. The listed Premium additions are mainly extra NHL and international-sports content, not a requirement for Toronto games.
Option 3: Add Apple TV for exclusive games
Sportsnet does not carry every Blue Jays game. MLB and Apple have an agreement that places selected regular-season games exclusively on Apple TV. If a game is Apple-exclusive, it will not appear on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.

Apple’s Canadian service carries Friday Night Baseball, generally two MLB games each Friday during the regular season. The current price is CA$14.99 per month after a seven-day free trial.

Check before buying a subscription. The Apple TV Friday Night Baseball schedule shows the games selected for that package. You can also check the Blue Jays broadcast schedule, which identifies the platform carrying each game.
For many Canadian viewers, the most economical arrangement is therefore Sportsnet+ Standard for the main schedule, with Apple TV added only during weeks when a Toronto game is exclusive to Apple.
How viewers in the United States watch the Blue Jays
U.S. viewers generally start with MLB.TV. For 2026, MLB lists the package at US$149.99 for the season. It provides live and on-demand access to out-of-market games, subject to blackout rules.
The 2026 MLB.TV package is also available through ESPN for new subscribers. MLB lists additional package features including MLB Network 24/7 in the United States, minor-league games, MLB Big Inning, and live audio.

Before paying, use MLB’s Blackout Restrictions checker and enter your ZIP code. This is more reliable than assuming that your location is outside the relevant broadcast area.
A VPN is not an official or dependable workaround. MLB says it can use multiple factors, including IP address, to apply geographic restrictions, and its terms still govern blackout eligibility. A VPN may fail, trigger account or playback problems, or violate service rules.

If you do not need video, the English radio broadcast is available through Sportsnet 590 The FAN in Toronto and the Blue Jays Radio Network. The team’s station list includes outlets in Ontario, Atlantic Canada, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.
There is one catch: the Blue Jays warn that not every listed station carries all 162 games. Check the station’s own schedule if you are following the entire season.
MLB’s 2026 guide also lists MLB+ as an audio option. MLB+ provides live audio for all 30 teams without audio blackouts and is included with MLB.TV subscriptions.
Which service should you choose?
| Viewer | Best starting point | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Canadian cable or satellite subscriber | Sportsnet channels and the Sportsnet app | Your package must include the relevant Sportsnet channel. |
| Canadian cord-cutter | Sportsnet+ Standard | It includes over 150 Blue Jays games, not necessarily all 162. |
| Canadian viewer chasing every available broadcast | Sportsnet+ Standard plus Apple TV when required | Some games are Apple-exclusive. |
| U.S. viewer outside the applicable blackout area | MLB.TV | Confirm your ZIP code with MLB’s blackout checker first. |
| Audio-only listener | Sportsnet 590, the Blue Jays Radio Network, or MLB+ | Local radio affiliates may not carry every game. |
The three common misconceptions
“MLB.TV gets every Blue Jays game in Canada.”
No. MLB identifies Sportsnet+ as the Canadian in-market service and MLB.TV as the out-of-market service. Canadian viewers should begin with Sportsnet, not MLB.TV.
“Sportsnet+ carries all 162 games.”
Not according to the current plan description. Sportsnet advertises over 150 Blue Jays games, and its support information confirms that selected games are exclusive to Apple TV.

“A VPN reliably fixes MLB blackouts.”
It does not. Blackout enforcement can use more than a simple location setting, and bypassing a restriction is not a dependable or officially supported viewing method.
A quick setup checklist
- Identify your country and, if you are in the U.S., check your ZIP code for MLB.TV blackouts.
- If you already have Sportsnet through a television provider, authenticate the Sportsnet app rather than paying for a second subscription.
- If you are in Canada without cable, choose Sportsnet+ Standard.
- Check the Blue Jays broadcast schedule for Apple TV exclusives before each week’s games.
- Use radio or MLB+ when video is unnecessary.
