How Can I Find My Videos on YouTube? App, Desktop, and Missing Uploads

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

One-click scans. No signup required.

To find videos you uploaded, open YouTube Studio and select Content. On a phone, open the YouTube app, tap your profile picture, then choose Your videos. If an upload is absent from your public channel, check the active Google account and channel, its visibility, processing status, schedule, and whether it was deleted.

Find your uploads on a computer

  1. Sign in to YouTube with the Google account used for the upload.
  2. Open your account menu and select YouTube Studio.
  3. Choose Content in the left-hand menu. This inventory includes videos, Shorts, livestreams, posts, and playlists.
  4. Browse the list, or use Studio’s search bar and filters to locate a title or keyword. YouTube documents this workflow at YouTube Studio’s Content help page.
  5. Select a thumbnail to edit the title, description, audience, subtitles, comments, analytics, copyright settings, or privacy.

To watch the upload, choose View on YouTube or open the video link shown beneath its thumbnail. Studio is the creator’s complete inventory; your public channel is only the viewer-facing selection.

Find your videos in the YouTube mobile app

  1. Open the YouTube app.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Your videos.
  4. Select an upload, or open its adjacent More menu to manage it.

This is the documented mobile route in YouTube Help. Labels and placement can vary slightly between Android, iPhone or iPad, account types, and app rollouts. If Your videos is not shown, use the YouTube Studio app.

Find and manage uploads in the YouTube Studio app

  1. Open YouTube Studio.
  2. Tap Content at the bottom.
  3. Browse or filter videos, Shorts, and livestreams.
  4. Tap a video. For editing, use More and then Edit.

Studio is the better phone app for private or unlisted uploads, visibility changes, restrictions, checks, and channel management. The same mobile path is described in YouTube’s privacy-settings guidance.

Why a video is missing from your public channel

The public channel’s Videos tab is not a complete list of everything you uploaded. Check the video’s status in Studio.

Visibility or state Public channel and search Who can watch
Public Shown on the channel and eligible for search and recommendations Anyone
Unlisted Not shown on the public Videos tab and normally not searchable Anyone with the link; the link can be reshared
Private Not shown publicly or in ordinary search The owner and viewers specifically selected by the owner
Scheduled Not public until its release time Generally private before publication
Draft or processing Not publicly available Available to the account in Studio, depending on its upload state

YouTube explains these visibility rules at support.google.com. A public video can still take time to become discoverable in search; eligibility is not a guarantee of immediate ranking.

Change a video’s visibility

On desktop

  1. Open YouTube Studio and select Content.
  2. Click the video.
  3. Open Visibility.
  4. Choose Public, Unlisted, or Private, then save.

On a phone

  1. Open YouTube and go to Your videos, or open YouTube Studio and select Content.
  2. Select the video and choose Edit.
  3. Tap Visibility, choose the setting, and save.

Making a video public changes what viewers can see; it does not merely locate the file. Unlisted is link-based sharing, while private is restricted sharing.

Troubleshoot a missing upload in the right order

  1. Check the Google account. Open the account menu and confirm the email address that received the upload.
  2. Check the active channel. One Google account can manage several channels or Brand Accounts. Switch channels, then reopen Your videos or Studio Content. YouTube’s creator help center covers switching and channel permissions: YouTube Creator support.
  3. Use Studio, not ordinary YouTube search. Search excludes private, unlisted, scheduled, and draft material.
  4. Check visibility and schedule. A scheduled upload remains private until its scheduled publication time, as described in YouTube’s upload instructions.
  5. Check processing. Uploading the file and publishing it are separate steps. Wait for processing to finish, refresh Studio, and confirm the item is not an abandoned draft. YouTube does not promise a fixed processing time.
  6. Search categories. Look under Videos, Shorts, or Live; a livestream or Short may not be where you expect in a filtered list.
  7. Check deletion or enforcement. A deleted upload will not remain in Studio. YouTube says deletion is permanent, and the original URL and title are no longer visible or searchable in Analytics: deleted-video guidance.

Upload date is not always publication date

If you uploaded a video as private or unlisted and made it public later, its upload date and public (publish) date differ. A scheduled video likewise stays private until release. Therefore, searching your channel by the date you uploaded the file can give a misleading result; check Studio’s complete list instead. See YouTube’s upload documentation.

Special cases that can hide an older or changed video

Older unlisted uploads

YouTube began making certain unlisted videos uploaded before January 1, 2017 private on July 23, 2021, unless the creator opted out or took another supported action. An old embed or shared link may therefore lead to a private video. Details are in YouTube’s unlisted-video security update.

YouTube changed the video to private after suspicious activity

YouTube may set videos to private when it suspects account hacking or other security problems. Review uploads, remove anything you did not make, secure the Google account, and check channel access using YouTube’s account-security instructions.

Locked as private

A separate “locked as private” state can prevent normal visibility changes, including in some policy or unverified-API-upload situations. Follow the review or appeal instructions associated with the notice; ordinary privacy editing may not unlock it. See YouTube’s locked-as-private help.

Content Manager accounts

If you work in YouTube Content Manager, open Videos, choose Uploads or Live, and filter by channel, video date, copyright strikes, monetization, or Video ID. The enterprise workflow is documented at YouTube Content Manager video search.

If you only want to watch or save a copy

For a quick watch, use Studio’s View on YouTube option on desktop, or Your videos in the mobile app. A private video requires the correct owner account (and, for invited viewers, the authorized Google account). An unlisted video normally requires its saved link.

To keep a copy, first locate the upload in Studio and inspect its More/options menu for any download or export control available to your account. Controls vary by account and video. Keep an independent original backup: YouTube describes deletion as permanent, and third-party downloader sites are not a dependable or recommended default.

What “my videos” does—and does not—mean

  • Uploaded videos: Find them in Your videos or Studio Content.
  • Watched videos: Find them in the You area or watch history.
  • Downloaded videos: Find them in YouTube’s offline-downloads area, subject to account and region rules.
  • Liked or saved videos: Find them in liked videos or playlists.
  • Videos made by other people: A mention of you does not make the video part of your uploads.

If a direct watch URL still works, open it while signed into the appropriate account; a missing public listing does not by itself mean the upload was deleted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I find my private video on my channel?

Private videos are intentionally excluded from the public channel and ordinary search. Open the correct account and channel in YouTube Studio, then select Content.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why is my unlisted video not searchable?

Unlisted videos are designed to be watched through their link, not discovered in search or the public Videos tab.

Why is my latest upload not public yet?

It may still be processing, scheduled, private, or saved as a draft. Check its status and Visibility setting in Studio.

Can I find an upload from another YouTube channel?

Yes, if you can access that channel: switch to it from the account menu, then open Your videos or Studio Content.

Can YouTube recover a deleted video?

YouTube describes deletion as permanent. Look for the original file in your own backup rather than relying on ordinary YouTube navigation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why did YouTube make my video private?

Possible causes include suspicious account activity or a locked-as-private policy state. Follow the security, review, or appeal instructions attached to the notice.
