Spoilers for the Daredevil Season 3 finale and Daredevil: Born Again Episode 1: Bullseye survives because the series had already shown Dex Poindexter undergoing experimental spinal surgery after Wilson Fisk shattered his spine. A premiere report says his Cogmium steel-reinforced spine helped him survive Matt Murdock’s rooftop throw, though the show has not provided a detailed medical account of how much protection it offers.
What happens to Bullseye in the premiere?
In the Born Again premiere, Bullseye attacks Matt Murdock’s circle and kills Foggy Nelson. Matt pursues him, hears Foggy’s heart stop, beats Bullseye, then throws him from a rooftop in an attempt to kill him. The scene makes the question immediate: how could Bullseye survive a fall like that?

Bullseye is Dex Poindexter, the former FBI agent who became one of Daredevil’s most dangerous opponents. His survival connects to the end of the original Daredevil series, rather than to a new recovery revealed in the rooftop scene.
How did the Season 3 finale set up his survival?
At the end of Daredevil Season 3, Wilson Fisk shatters Dex’s spine. The final scene shows Dex undergoing experimental spinal surgery, signaling that he is alive and that doctors are attempting to repair the damage. The Ringer’s premiere recap connects that ending to Dex’s return in Born Again (The Ringer).

When Matt throws him from the roof, a contemporary report by ComicBook.com identifies Dex’s Cogmium steel-reinforced spine as the reason the fall may not have killed him (ComicBook.com). That is the clearest reported explanation for the television version. It does not establish that the reinforcement makes him invulnerable or specify what injuries it can withstand.
What the rooftop scene means for Matt
The throw is not presented as a routine move in a fight. Matt has just lost Foggy and deliberately tries to kill Bullseye. Charlie Cox described that choice to TheWrap as going against “everything that he is, that he believes” (TheWrap). The survival explanation accounts for Bullseye’s return; it does not undo the moral shock of Matt’s decision.

Is this the same as Bullseye’s comics backstory?
No. Marvel’s comics biography describes a separate incident in which Daredevil lets Bullseye fall, leaving him with a shattered spine; later, Adamantium is laced into his bones (Marvel’s Bullseye history). That comic-book account is a parallel, not the television series’ explanation. The premiere reporting refers to Cogmium steel reinforcement, not Adamantium.

Marvel lists Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 on Disney+ and gives its release date as March 4, 2025; streaming availability can vary by region (Marvel’s series page). For optional comics context, Marvel points to Bullseye’s early clashes with Daredevil in Daredevil #131–132 and the Elektra conflict in #181 (Marvel’s Daredevil reading guide); these stories are not required to understand the show’s spinal-surgery setup.
